I am saving this for Christmas holidays. I am amazed at my own self discipline Smile

BagelGoesWalking · 20/11/2018 13:41

Goddess I'm amazed at your self discipline- it was bad enough waiting 24 hrs! Cor, its taken a dark turn hasn't it?

Watched 2 eps now. Definitely some surprises, Uhtred looks hot (DS27 warned me beforehand that he didn't want any "thirsty" comments about Uhtred's hotness from me 😂😂😂)

Still miss Erik and Sigefrid RIP.

RedRoseReb · 20/11/2018 13:43

Poor old Erik.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/11/2018 15:33

Bagel I want to discuss the surprises but we can't yet because not everyone has watched Sad

Of course not, Bore, certainly don't want to spoil it for anyone - it would piss me off if I saw spoilers. I've avoided the FB group even though people there are pretty good about not posting. We all know some people can't see until the weekend (or later).

froufroufoxes · 20/11/2018 19:54

I think they've set their stall out pretty well with the new character. Shock
This is going to be great.

TheLastNigel · 20/11/2018 22:37

Is he??!! How did I not know! Thanks for alerting op!

twattymctwatterson · 20/11/2018 22:50

I have binge watched the entire series in 2 days Blush. It was great

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/11/2018 23:39

Just finished episode 6.

Best. Series. Ever.

The cast have really grown into their roles as the characters have grown up. The King Alfred actor is superb.

And still four more episodes to go!

We watched Ep1 yesterday - it seems much more violent than series 2. Were the BBC holding them back from all the gore?

BagelGoesWalking · 21/11/2018 10:51

Definitely more bloody this time around. I'm sure S1 & 2 weren't rated 18 on Netflix, were they?

Me and DS27 ending up watching 8 episodes yesterday 😂 We couldn't quite believe we'd watched so many in one go! It's really intense. Ep 5 & 6 were so sad (directed by Jon East who also directed some of Killing Eve) and made me cry a bit.

It's much darker and more intense. The character who provided a lot of the light relief before ... well!

AmmoniteMum · 22/11/2018 20:51

I’m really enjoying this series. It’s gone beyond where I’d got to in the books so some surprises and plot twists I didn’t know about.

BagelGoesWalking · 23/11/2018 00:28

Oh heavens, Ep 9 😩😧😢😭

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 01:00

Did anyone else spot Bernard Cornwell's cameo appearance in Ep 8?

BagelGoesWalking · 23/11/2018 10:30

Yes! I knew he was in it at some point (from posts on Fb group). Fun thing to do. Nice pic of him and Brida.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 10:54

Oh, that is a nice pic!

I get the feeling the cast and crew have an absolute ball when filming.

I'll be watching the last two episodes today or tomorrow and then I've got the latest book to look forward to, plus watching the full 3 series again, right from the beginning!

By the way, Sihtric has matured v nicely, hasn't he?

BagelGoesWalking · 23/11/2018 11:38

Because I watched Eps 1-8 with my son on Tues (he came down to me), I waited to see 9 yesterday when he had time to watch, so we could catch up on WhatsApp after. He can only watch Ep10 on Sat 😩 so I'm patiently waiting although it was really hard to turn off after - Ep 9 is intense.

Sitric and Finan are lovely, more of them needed!

I have started watching from the beginning again!! It's really interesting to see it, so many little things pop out and link up in S3. I'd already watched them for a 2nd time a while ago. Not many tv shows are that addictive. Lovely to see it trending (in lots of countries according to the Fb group) which bodes well for S4 I hope.

The previous "baddies" Ubba, Sigefrid and Erik (although he wasn't a baddie for long) made more of an impact than those in S3. We had more time to get to know them, I feel, than we do with Bloodhair and Cnut. What do you think about Skade?

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 11:49

My all-time favourite baddie was the one with the bloodied teeth (forget his name). I quite fancied him!

Skade is evil personified (and could do with a good wash)

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 11:54

It was Skorpa!

BagelGoesWalking · 23/11/2018 12:16

Oh yes, I always forget Skorpa!

AmmoniteMum · 23/11/2018 14:54

Ubba was the most terrifying baddie for me. ‘Never, ever fight Ubba!’

charlyn · 23/11/2018 18:27

Ive finally watched it all... loved it! Maybe we should start a new thread so we can discuss it without accidentally revealing spoilers

froufroufoxes · 23/11/2018 18:38

Would I be right in thinking we haven't sent the last of Skade?

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/11/2018 18:43

Excellent idea charlyn!

We can discuss your question there froufrou
