Well despite all the various remarks to see you next Tuesday, I switched on and settled down this evening in great anticipation, only to find that BBC 2 Scotland was airing Haringey v AFC Wimbledon.

The menopause is a dreadful thing.

Gaaaah.

Footle · 09/11/2018 21:23

EmbraRocks, you're right of course about the date.

Footle · 09/11/2018 21:24

And my menopause is too long ago to be blamed.

MrsTommyBanks · 09/11/2018 21:35

Have you seen this?

Sadly I'm in recovery so can't partake. I am willing to replace alcohol with Orange Smarties. Fuck the diet it's nearly Christmas.

MrsTommyBanks · 09/11/2018 21:37

Matt Campbell's death was utterly tragic. His poor family.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/11/2018 12:50

It was tragic MrsTommy. For all that we made fun of his veganism (obviously it never occurred to anyone that his life would be so painfully short), I think we all appreciated his culinary skills, and that he was a thoroughly kind and nice young man.

To make vegan food so delicious and interesting to non-vegan critics was an incredibly difficult task - and he succeeded week after week. And he did it with style and generous good humour.

whatashower · 10/11/2018 19:32

Lets perhaps all agree that, moving forward, the reference AoF is a generic title and in no way an inappropriate reflection. While I wasnt involved in the original thread, I do feel it is perhaps implicit that all posters were shocked and saddened by the sad news about Matt.

Having had a false start already, I am much looking forward to the next MCTP.

WeAreSailing · 10/11/2018 20:09

Still riding high on the memories of stupendous "Chef Frank" Grin

Halsall · 10/11/2018 20:46

Chef Frank is a legend

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/11/2018 15:50

CHEF FRANK!

WeAreSailing · 12/11/2018 21:58

He should make an honorary reappearance

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 07:18

Perhaps he could open the final - cut a ribbon (or Greggggg's tongue out) or something.

Footle · 13/11/2018 08:01

Schaden, are you George Gideon Osborne?

Halsall · 13/11/2018 09:28

This is very worrying. I dreamt about Chef Frank last night. But luckily, it wasn't, ahem, that sort of dream

He was just bossing it in the kitchen. As he always does. Huzzah!

What did AoF stand for? Matt’s death was tragic - he was my fave last year. Such a talented guy

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 12:56

No Footle - otherwise I would use the "Gideon" which is a much more exciting name than "George" (which is actually a name I don't like at all, though I couldn't say why). Though I'm curious to know why you ask. Have I revealed my Inner Chancellor or something?

AoF = Assassin of Fun Hipho - referencing the fact that he made vegan food, and (we thought) took all the joy out of eating (except that he obviously didn't because even the most enthusiastic carnivores heaped great praise on his dishes. And they certainly looked very good.

Taffeta · 13/11/2018 13:15

I was flabbergasted when Matt left, I’d thought he was by far and away the judges favourite.

I fear I’ll miss tonight again due to Arseing Football.

Footle · 13/11/2018 14:35

Schaden, it turned out he was the MP who said he wanted the PM chopped up and in his freezer. Sort of a tiny bit bloodthirsty, which tied in with Gurnard's tongue.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 14:43

Aaaah! Thank you Footle

I would baulk at having any portion of the Gurner's anatomy within 10 miles of my kitchen, so that is maybe the difference.

I would just like him rendered silent (and possibly stuffed into a box and tossed into the Thames).

Wanting to keep the PM all to himself (albeit cut into little teeny-tiny pieces and secreted in a freezer) sounds a little perverted to me. Even for a Tory politician.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 13/11/2018 18:10

We all on last years thread were very shocked by Matt's death. AoF was a character in our Tudor court of MCPs (due to the preponderance of mighty beards). He didn't follow the bluff Tudor model, but took the role as a potentially, foreign assassin. And yes, being vegan, and keen on very healthy food the AoF. But he was a talented young man. Who knows where he may have ended up.
I'm off for my mince and dumplings. See you all later.

Shirleyphallus · 13/11/2018 19:28

Matt’s death was a huge shock and so so sad Flowers

Placemarking for later

MrsTommyBanks · 13/11/2018 19:37

I had mince and dumplings yesterday.
Signing in for tonight's show.

Wolfcub · 13/11/2018 19:53

Taffeta · 13/11/2018 19:53

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 19:56
