Watching. Lots of 1970s brown everywhere!

UntamedShrew · 28/10/2018 21:14

Argh missed first ten minutes! Anything you can tell me so I know what’s going on or is it too late?!

thenightsky · 28/10/2018 21:14

Its on record, so will watch when DH has finished his catch up of Dr Who.

The80sweregreat · 28/10/2018 21:16

My sil has flicky hair like hers in 79!

The80sweregreat · 28/10/2018 21:17

Had rather

IAmBeyonceAlways · 28/10/2018 21:22

UntamedShrew - the guy being interviewed and crying put a bomb in the au pairs flat and the flat blew up. Was the pretty girl and the arabian (I think they said) guy with the car.
Am only half concentrating so had better watch more carefully as it seems quite deep Grin

Dull so far. Can't quite follow the politics.

The bomb was planted by the man unwittingly and I think it blew up his son who wasn't supposed to be there

Hepzibar · 28/10/2018 21:29

Dull dull and boring.fell asleep and am now in bed.

MrsReacher1 · 28/10/2018 21:33

Don't like any of the characters and can't seem to connect with any of them or care. Might also go to bed.

LightastheBreeze · 28/10/2018 21:37

A bit boring but I will keep it on my planner in case everyone starts raving about in a few weeks time because it turns out really good

Cerseirys · 28/10/2018 21:57

The attention to 70s detail is excellent, right down to the lead actress' nipples!

PrincessScarlett · 28/10/2018 22:02

Love Alexander Skarsgard.

Abra1de · 28/10/2018 22:03

I liked it.

Flaskfan · 28/10/2018 22:04

I think the dialogue is off. The woman said a few things that seemed too modern. Can't quite remember, but it jarred. Moving verrry slow.

IcedPurple · 28/10/2018 22:09

Incredibly stilted dialogue and not all that much happening. Is this something which will be dragged out to too many episodes because the BBC reckon they're onto a winner?

There's Alex Skarsgard to ogle though, which is always a plus. Whether even he can keep me watching is another question.

Biologifemini · 28/10/2018 22:11

Loved it. Loved the era and the set up.
Love the interiors.

IAmBeyonceAlways · 28/10/2018 22:20

umm.... not an immediate hit with me, but will see if it's a grower!

Notso · 28/10/2018 22:32

It was dull and confusing to me. DH claimed to have enjoyed it but I heard him snoring!

UntamedShrew · 28/10/2018 22:34

Oh thank you! I’m not sure the first ten minutes was even connected to the rest which seemed to be more Charlie’s story but no doubt it’ll turn out to be crucial in a later episode. Going to persevere and see how it (hopefully) all comes together.

SleightOfMind · 28/10/2018 22:38

15 mins in (now we’ve got rid of blinking family!)
Very good so far.
Re period detail. I grew up in Germany (was 5yrs old in’79) and the coffee cups are giving me flashbacks Grin

BeardedMum · 28/10/2018 22:40

Loved it. Finally something good on TV. I think you need a bit of knowledge of the politics of the era? I am quite old....

BitOfFun · 28/10/2018 22:44

I loved it. And wasn't Florence Pugh wonderful? What a career she has ahead.

VenusInSpurs · 28/10/2018 22:45

“The woman said a few things that seemed too modern. “ the word ‘dodgy’? I don’t think ‘taste in men’ would have been described as dodgy til the 90s.

I am into it, but my confusions are;

Is there a time lag / flash back? The timescale between lead Israeli investigator getting the terrorist grabbed and kidnapping Charlie seems confusing.

The Palestinian terrorist and Peter / Jose / Action Man wear the same watch and green jacket.

There was someone in a green jacket at the Red Dragon Theatre...

Charlie is an anti-Zionist. Why would she be grabbed by a group seeming to be Israeli undercover supporters?

Is lead Israeli investigator actually a Palestinian operative?

How come ‘action man’ drives the same car as the Palestinian who was lured by the pretend hitchhiker? And what is the timeline there?

TOTALLY confused.

EmilyDickinson · 28/10/2018 22:48

It's set in the 70s after the Munich attack. Israeli intelligence are on the track of a Palestinian terror cell of four (I think) brothers. Eldest brother is the (extraordinarily good) bomb maker. Youngest brother recruits people to plant the bombs. He favours a particular type, young, blonde, Western girls. We see one planting a bomb by giving a man a suitcase to put in his au pairs room. His young child, home sick from school, is killed as a result.

Israeli intelligence track down the bomb planter and youngest brother either but rather than "taking them out" they want to get the whole cell. The plan seems to be to recruit a young English actress, Charlie, who is very much youngest brother's type.

Charlie seems to be incredibly smart, but for some reason not quite smart enough to avoid being alone with a man she barely knows who is clearly lying to her.

I agree, the period detail is brilliant. It's also interesting to watch knowing that it's set so, relatively, soon after the Holocaust.

Holidayshopping · 28/10/2018 22:49

I am very confused too!
