Thanks She came from, I was aware of that. Just being nostalgic for ‘Come Dancing’. Yes the Valeta, maybe the odd Minuet could be thrown in. I think the Lingering Blues was a forerunner of American smooth.

I see Katya has been back to Tesco for a Guaranteed Not Sexy Frock. This week counteracting the fact that red is a slightly sexy colour (oh no!!) by wearing it four sizes too large.

Last year I was supporting Aj and Mollie.. but even though Lauren seems lovely, I just don’t think she’s a performer and I’m not massively keen on their partnership. I’m really enjoying this season tho, well maybe last week was a bit poor 😁

Oh I had stroke of genius this morning; how about they compete for 2 glitter balls? One gold for the inexperienced contestants and one silver for the previously 'trained' dancers.

Has anyone watched Lucy Worsley's Dancing Cheek to Cheek? The three episodes are on YouTube/iplayer. I caught the second one last night and found it fascinating! It features Len Goodman

ppeatfruit the trouble with dividing contestants into two groups is that dance experience is a continuum not a binary thing. Plus there are other types of experience that give an advantage, like being musical and therefore effortlessly able to keep time, or acting experience making it easier to portray emotion or a story. I think that the biggest advantage, above even dance experience, is being young and charming.

Simple. Same reason they don't do any ballet. It's because it's difficult and takes years to learn. The celebs would be terrible, and the ringers would probably be better at it than the professional ballroom/latin dancers on the show.

Just caught up with this thread and as a morris dancer would like to say to Nikita and Schadenfreude that the morris side they were writing about would have been a Border side, these tend to have a Gothic vibe in their kit and paint their faces - they look quite spectacular!
