Is the sort of thing Alma? It's a lot more aggressive exciting than the usual stuff, and they have women too.

EvilRingahBitch · 18/10/2018 19:45

Having sat through far too many children’s dance recitals, the thing about tap is that there’s absolutely nowhere to hide - you just can’t disguise it when someone’s crap, and even a talented beginner won’t look good. Even more so than ballet.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/10/2018 19:48

Alma, BlackAmerican

Thank you - this is Morris Dancing with Attitude, indeed.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/10/2018 19:55

I'd been thinking of this, though.

wiki.lspace.org/mediawiki/Dark_Morris

This comment was on the Terry Pratchett books forum
"Somewhere on video, I have the Lancre Morris Men performing our own choreography of the Dark Morris. Black outfits, black bells with the little tinkly bits removed for "silent running" and black handkerchiefs. If I can find someone who still has a video grabber card in their PC I will convert it to Mpeg and post it on my site. It's quite an eerie sight as it is performed, as Terry describes it, in complete silence and very late at night."

I'd love to see that, too.

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2018 20:01

BlackAmerican I don't agree about the young and charming thing; Danny and isn't young neither was Debbie Macgee, both good dancers,

Of course ALL the variables couldn't and needn't be controlled, it would be fairer though.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/10/2018 20:30

Debbie didn't win (although she deservedly got to the final), Danny won't win either. Joe will win, and he is young and charming. Although this year isn't a typical year IMO as Joe's myriad followers would vote for him if he just came out and did a dump on the floor.

xsquared · 18/10/2018 20:51

Joe's legions of followers will keep him out of the dance off and he will eventually win on votes alone.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 19/10/2018 00:11

Gooseysgirl · 19/10/2018 08:06

Lots to look forward to there! Charles won't want to be in the DO again this week so they need to be going all out for their choice dance and it'll need to be a crowd pleaser. Is there no Halloween special this year?

xsquared · 19/10/2018 08:16

Halloween weekend would be the week after surely?

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2018 08:38

Thanks Gareth

I'm not sure that Roxanne is suitable for a tango.

HumbleCrumble · 19/10/2018 09:10

I wonder which week they'll do Halloween, the 31st is a Wednesday this year so bang between the weekends. Or is it always Week 6?

I'm interested to see how Joe does with the waltz. Either it will be Not His Dance, in which case we'll find out if his legions can save him from the bottom of the leader board, or it'll be surprisingly good and confirm his status as a Dark Horse Novice.

I will actually be at home tomorrow night to watch live for the first time all series - I'm quite pathetically excited!

DarlingNikita · 19/10/2018 10:03

Alma, yes, that looks like them. Thanks!

ppeat, I seem to remember someone doing a tango to Roxanne in a previous series. Can't think who it was.

Re: Joe, do his followers even watch Strictly?

iklboo · 19/10/2018 10:06

It was Simon Webbe who did the Roxanne tango.

iklboo · 19/10/2018 10:07
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/10/2018 10:30

I got the impression on ITT that this Graeme and Oti's tango will be to the Police version of Roxanne rather than the Moulin Rouge version. I think the version that Simon Webbe used works better for a tango, but we'll see.

Re: Joe followers, I have a DS and DD. To start with they both came in to watch Joe and then left again. DS has been less interested in watching Joe, although he will if he happens to be nearby, DD is getting more interested in watching the whole thing, but she often gets bored in the VTs and wanders off.

I've noticed on the Strictly YouTube that Joe hasn't gone over a million views yet for last weekend's dance, so perhaps his fans are getting bored and drifting off a bit.

xsquared · 19/10/2018 12:08

Blackamericano, Joe’s dances has by far the highest number of views, outnumbering the next dance by at least a factor of 10. If the vieqa amd cotes correlate, then in theory he will always have the highest number of votes.

HumbleCrumble · 19/10/2018 12:22

With my cynical hat -permanently on - even if Joe ended up in the bottom 2, the judges might save him regardless of who he's up against just because they think he's good for the ratings?

DarlingNikita · 19/10/2018 12:24

the judges might save him regardless of who he's up against just because they think he's good for the ratings?

I'm cynical too, but even I can't go for that. I think they're generally fair when it comes to the dance-off, even though they're not always with the original scoring. Plus, the viewing audience are not idiots and would see through it, and the producers would have their guts for garters.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/10/2018 12:34

Yes, he's still by far the most popular view, but just not as viewed as his dances were in the first couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure he'll win without ever being in a dance off, even if half of his followers get bored he'll still be the highest public vote by a very large margin (I'm guessing, since that is secret). I don't even mind all that much, he's trying very hard and embracing the whole Strictly thing, and he's very watchable. Plus, I enjoy watching with my DC, up until now they have been quite scathing about my enjoyment of it, so I'm grateful to him for that.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/10/2018 12:36

DarlingNikita I would offer up Peter Andre as a dancer who was saved at least twice by the judges because he was a 'name' that they didn't want to leave too early.

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2018 12:41

iklboo I really liked Simon Webbe (thanks for the link but my laptop is not good with them Grin ). At least this year's Joe is better than last year's Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/10/2018 12:41

Actually, I went back to check that, and he was only saved once, against Jamellia. But it's stuck in my memory because he clearly wasn't the better dancer, I think they were just fed up of Jamellia always being in the dance off.

DarlingNikita · 19/10/2018 12:45

Black, I don't remember those dance-offs but I'd personally be reluctant, as a non-expert, to say that they save people for that reason rather than on ability.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/10/2018 12:50

Well, nobody can ever say that I let a lack of knowledge hold me back from expressing an opinion. Grin
