Danny fan here too.Believe what you see is what you get with him.Polite, professional and hardworking-and his family seem lovely.I'm not sure if he will make it to the final but he gets my vote .I'm the same age and a lean build with a physical job and get told I look very fit but believe you mean the old hips creak in the mornings and I feel aches and pains,I'm sure he probably does too but is a born performer. And only noticed last week how beautiful Amy is in a natural way.

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2018 09:08

I like Danny too, he's quite old for such a young family I'm not so sure about his background, I don't care he's great. he said in an interview in the dear old Radio Times that he was at Dance School with Bruno , he doesn't hide the fact which is lovely. Faye is sooo good she shouldn't win. Stacey SHOULD win .

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 09:47

oh catfleas GROAN! (But hurrah for Cheese Week. I bagsy Wensleydale)

dameofdilemma · 16/10/2018 09:49

Am so fed up of professional dancers turning up as 'contestants'. The beauty of Strictly has always been in discovering hidden talents in unlikely people.

Can everyone agree not to vote for Ashley/Faye/Danny please? I've nothing against them but if the public refuse to vote for pro contestants (ProCons....you heard it here first) maybe the BBC will get the message?

dontcallmelen · 16/10/2018 10:36

catfleas mind blown at the thought of cheese week, does dairylea count?

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 10:41

Of course it does melen. Also a tube of squeezy Philadelphia, but NOT Cheestrings.

I have no issue with 'ringers' on the show whatsoever. I love seeing a dance done well, just as I love seeing someone who started from nothing getting better each week There has to be a range of abilities so they can have a range of storylines. This is reality TV, after all, and it needs to be manipulated in order to create the narratives that draw the audience in ~ how do you do that with 16 Susannah Constatines trundling around the dancefloor, or 16 Ashley's knocking out of the park every week? The ringeriest ringer of each series rarely wins anyway, and if you started excluding people with dance training you're excluding a huge pool of actors and singers.

Love a good ringer, I do Smile

^ rogue apostrophe in there Angry

Nope. Not a chance.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/10/2018 12:00

SheCameFromGreece quite agree, I don’t want all the contestants to be ‘tryers’, you need some quality too for balance. As long as the programme is honest about the celebrity’s dancing experience I think we can cope with that. They came unstuck with Alesha Dixon who was promoted as a novice dancer then suddenly became a know-it-all judge.

It’s all smoke and mirrors though. The pretence of it being filmed on different nights makes me tear my hair out.

Absolutely not. People usually vote who they like most anyway, and the ringers don’t always win. They are not the first ringers and having them in the show makes it more entertaining.

If I was going to predict who will win based on not being in the dance off and having the most votes, it will be Joe.

PawneeParksDept · 16/10/2018 12:33

@dameofdilemma

I never vote for ProCons, I resent them, but they rarely if EVER win

The only one I can think of who did was Smugface Chambers

And he managed that by massively downplaying how good of a dancer he actually was all series and footage of him doing an amazing Fred Astaire tribute only emerged after he'd won.

Smugface and then HOLLINS marked the end of my consistent picking the winner streak

Still bitter.

Denise Van Outen was a ringer and didn't get so much of a sniff of the glitter ball

dameofdilemma · 16/10/2018 12:40

I've got nothing against the ProCons personally (and have always loved the Cat) but my inner voice is screaming It's Not Fair!!!!

And I'm a sucker for a journey and there's no journey when they go from good ProCon to even better ProCon.

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2018 12:42

Yes Myimaginary Especially as the Beeb is pretending that they're all up front now, that's a load of old cobblers for a start Grin I do like the beeb though.

DarlingNikita · 16/10/2018 13:27

I'm not looking forward to all the contempowafting (copyright Monkseal) but I really hope someone does some Bollywood/bhangra. I've thought for ages they should add one of those to the schedule and maybe get rid of the rumba or something. The music is wonderful.

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 13:47

I still think they should have to do Morris dancing, as our English National Dance.

DarlingNikita · 16/10/2018 13:54

Fuzzy, that opens a can of worms unless you bring in Scottish, Irish and Welsh national dances too... Riverdance anyone? Christ no please no

I saw a very good Morris dance company once (I know, weird sentence but it's true). They wore black feathery costumes and were very much about the dark Wicker Man side of traditional country dancing.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/10/2018 13:56

@Fuzzy - Love a bit of Morris Dancing but it can get quite fighty. Would you trust Neil with a stick atm?

dontcallmelen · 16/10/2018 14:11

Love a bit of stick waving dancing, yy though don’t fancy watching Neil bludgeon Seann live on Tv, bit too hunger games for me.
Bollywood/Bhangra love the music & always seems so joyous.
I don’t think so can stop some of the ringas being in the show, so many actors/entertainers have some sort of dance training & think it would be a bit boring if they were all clodhoppers, it’s a difficult balance.
Fuzzy would cheesestrings hair extensions be exempt?

BeaTrewts · 16/10/2018 14:21

I like having the ringers in the competition and wouldn't watch it if the celebs were all complete novices.

DarlingNikita · 16/10/2018 14:23

I don't like the judges fawning over the ringers without being able to acknowledge that they have an advantage, but overall I don't mind them being in the show because the Great British Public usually does a pretty good job of filtering them out by the end.

iklboo · 16/10/2018 14:43

I have it on good authority they're introducing the 'Round Your Handbag Shuffle' for the final.

I’m saving myself for Cheese Week. I hope it doesn’t clash with Blackpool, I wouldn’t want to miss the hallouminations.

[grin[

Bags-I Havarti!!!

Quite right, Fuzzy - and might I say, for our American friends, that Velveeta is not allowed either, or ANY type of spray cheese!

St Wallace of Grommit would turn in his crypt!
