Should say 8:55pm

billysboy · 14/10/2018 12:02

about time they told bruno to sit the fuck down, and stop trying to steal the show , stopped all the faffing before the dance and props etc but above all stop this charade that the results show is filmed on sunday night
They probably kept sean in for the publicity ,I see they had a minder up the top

ElspethFlashman · 14/10/2018 12:05

I love Alfonso Ribeira. If he comes out doing the Carlton my day will be made.

Katie has to be in the bottom two. That wasn't dancing, that was jogging on the spot. Stomp stomp stomp stomp.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/10/2018 12:05

ah, I get it. I only got sucked into this as DD likes watching it. I will be prepared for next week! Thanks PurpleOctober.

Wolfcub · 14/10/2018 12:17

Watching the second half this morning. I think I’m a bit in love with Swanny. I thought Seann and Katya’s very careful behaviour in the clauditorium was ridiculously fake and stiff

CassandraCross · 14/10/2018 12:22

billysboy was the minder not there for Katie Piper? BBC have increased security around her and provided a minder as the person who threw acid over her was released from Prison this week.

Rest of your post I totally agree with, all those props and faffing drag the show out to interminable lengths if they cut it all we could get back to having the results on the Saturday night.

gendercritter · 14/10/2018 12:36

The Sunday night show should be moved. You have all this momentum on the Sat night and it all falls flat on the Sunday. I'd cut the show in half and just get on with the results. I barely watch on a Sunday but I rarely missed a show when it was on on the Saturday, wonderful social life that I have!

ShirleyPhallus · 14/10/2018 12:39

I’ve only just caught up on this

Thought the whole programme was a bit flat really. No absolute standout performances or any that gave me a tingly “must watch” again feeling

The only ones that came close were Faye, and I want to watch Seatya again just for the lifts and tricks

Katie was awful tonight. She’s a fantastic woman but cannot dance

Felt awful for Kate who obviously forgot what she was doing and was basically stomping around

Otherwise, any of the middle of the pack lot could go - joe / Charles / Graeme

PurpleOctober · 14/10/2018 12:52

Agreed @gendercritter. I assume they moved it to Sunday for higher ratings, and because the Saturday night results would probably be too late for kids to watch. Also, when they aired the results on Saturday it was only about 20 minutes, whereas now they drag it on for nearly an hour.

Petalflowers · 14/10/2018 13:11

On Sunday the pro dance is always worth watching.

Faye was definabtly undermarked .

placemats · 14/10/2018 14:00

Faye should have got more points.

Stacey is a dark horse and I loved Kevin's cake face.

I don't like Ranj; sorry, but he over does it.

Katy was poor last night.

I think Charles is still recovering from the fact that no one seems to like him.

I really enjoyed Lauren and AJ.

dontcallmelen · 14/10/2018 14:00

Fuzzy I have decorated my crab shell for Fish week it’s got fairy lights & a bar.

ChoccyJules · 14/10/2018 14:29

Forgot to sat that while I am no fan of Charles or Karen, they seemed under-marked. Is this now going to be the same as knowing which countries will support us in Eurovision, what with Shirl being in Team Kevin?

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2018 14:53

I actually was thinking that the dances and the music was better than the week before movie week except for the ridiculous faffy bits. I recognised some of the tunes!

Darcey told Faye that she was being picky with her because she is a ringah "so good". Grin They couldn't give her 10s now could they? I want Stacey to win. She's lovely.

ElspethFlashman · 14/10/2018 15:31

Can we talk about how some poor Mum had a really shit day having to bring her poorly daughter to A+E and found her day getting considerably shittier after being pounced upon by a Strictly producer? DH and I howled. Its fucking A+E! Perhaps trot up to the ward and interview a kid about to be discharged?

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2018 15:40

I did wonder Elspeth But the producers would have definitely asked the girl's parents and the child. BEFORE filming of course But A&E is where he works, I thought he was lovely with her.

applecatchers36 · 14/10/2018 15:57

He was a natural with her and if my kids were in A&E and got to be treated by Dr Raj it would make their day.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/10/2018 15:58

Haha @Elspeth that girl looked seriously underwhelmed by her Strictly experience. I think she spoke for the nation.

ElspethFlashman · 14/10/2018 16:13

Hey I'm not saying I wouldn't have agreed to it to distract my kid if they were a fan (if I hear DS roar "Be Happy Be Healthy and Get Well Soon!" once more at the top of his lungs I will murder him), I just think it was a bad idea in the first place.

LARLARLAND · 14/10/2018 16:29

I think it was a lovely thing to see Dr. Ranj treat the little girl.

SoupDragon · 14/10/2018 16:48

I’m sure they chose their patient carefully and asked her parents! It would have been staged anyway I imagine, with the real treatment having already happened.

GloriousMystery · 14/10/2018 17:04

I've literally never seen an episode of Strictly before, but I read a thread about the two who snogged outside a pub and found myself watching some of it last night while baking something that needed doing but only took half my attention.

Do the dance pros choreograph the dances themselves each week?

How does the public vote relate to the judges' vote? I mean, if the public votes overwhelmingly for a mid-to-low-ranking couple, can that boost them up the board?

Is the judging always so inconsistent? The snogging couple doing the stripy pizza thing were really bad, I thought, but seemed to be graded far less poorly than I'd expected, compared to some other performances....?

DarlingNikita · 14/10/2018 17:21

Do the dance pros choreograph the dances themselves each week?
Yes, with help from specialists in dances that they won't have learned as part of the standard ballroom and Latin curriculum (off the top of my head, Charleston, Argentine tango, salsa).

How does the public vote relate to the judges' vote? I mean, if the public votes overwhelmingly for a mid-to-low-ranking couple, can that boost them up the board?
Yes. There's a tension between the judges, who score from their professional points of view (although see below!) and the public, some of whom may vote from a position of knowledge but many of whom will vote on likeability, how much they enjoyed the routine etc.

Is the judging always so inconsistent? It can be really weird, yes. And even when judging one couple, sometimes one judge will disagree and give a very different score from another. They all look out for different elements of the dance (technique, mood, showmanship etc) and all tend to have their favourites, even though I don't think they're supposed to.

PawneeParksDept · 14/10/2018 17:22

@GloriousMystery

Votes is point based Top of the table gets 10 and bottom one point same in the public vote, the two scores combined then have the two with the least in the bottom

The pros do most of the choreography for their dances and the big professionals only numbers. They get help on two specialist dances Argentine Tango and Charleston

iklboo · 14/10/2018 17:56

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'patient' was a crew member's daughter pretending to be a patient, to be honest. In the 'Casualty' set Grin
