@GrumbleBumble I think, in the case of a situation where it's a professional dance partnership, it makes it easier to work if the foreign born half has right to remain

I agree with Pawnee, what they’d gain in that hypothetical situation is the guarantee that their talented dance partner would stick around.

I did not really love this week. Hated Kate and Alijaz ... the whole Africa thing was cringe and if he could just stop looking for the TV camera for one second ...

@Kilpitlees I really like Kate most weeks but I agree she was bad this week, I hope she doesn't go.

That's true, I hadn't realised how annoying the camera-hogging was until you mentioned it but yes, Alijaz and Pasha both do that a lot!

Another one here not overly enthused about this series.

I caught the second half tonight but found myself reading the thread rather than concentrating on the dancing. So either
a) the SCD standard is lower than usual, or
b) the MN SCD threads have raised their game this year.

The judges clearly had been told to over mark Seann and Katya! Was a bit over the top they'll way they praised them

i have found it odd that compared to last year the judges scores are so low. do you think they are low? or that last year they were too high?

Those asking about Sean's name - it will have been to avoid a clash with another entertainer called Sean Walsh. Like when you see actors with their middle initial in the credits it usually means there was already a "joe bloggs" so they had to change it slightly. Bit like Hugh Dennis whose real name is Peter Hugh Dennis, but there was already a Peter Dennis

Samcro, I mentioned earlier on that the judges seem to be giving them week 1 scores tonight.

I was surprised by Kate tonight I thought she was going to be in the final

I think Charles might be in trouble along with Katie and Lauren (Sean might be too but not for dancing)

But Kate is an unknown as she hasn't been in bottom part before so may not have the votes. Her dress was like zazu in lion king, but very unflattering IMHO, there was just something strange about the whole thing but no idea what was wrong

@Wolfcub I know, i don't like any of the Gleam set they make their money exploiting teens and tweens, far more so than a boyband because at least they are selling a talent - the Gleamers are literally just advertising to kids. Still I think he's in it for the haul

KarlDilkington that surprised me too. It wasn't very good, about the same as his jive. I genuinely thought the powers that be would put them in the lower middle of the leaderboard and hope to get rid of them. I can only think the BBC is enjoying the publicity!

I managed to miss nearly all the scoring tonight due to muting the judges and multitasking around the house. Were the scores artificially high or low? I enjoy a bit of low marking tbh if the dance warrants it, not a fan of 6/7/8 as standard for mediocre dancing.

Charles was criminally undermarked. He was the second best male celeb after Danny.

I rated them Stacey, Ashley, Faye, Vick, Danny, Charles. He was better than Ranj, Joe, Lauren, Seann, who scored higher.

My favourite moment was Gorka going "WOW.. " when Oti slated Graeme. No love lost there.

I was spitting bullets at Sean throughout. That stupid elevator thing he does in the background. Attention seeking twat. He does it every week, but the brass neck of him trying to upstage other contestants interviews this week? FFS.

I was very impressed with how Strictly handled it all though. One briefest and vaguest of mentions, then make the entire VT show us they had a CHAPERONE, lol.

I was less impressed with the judges. I don't know if they collectively decided to be positive or if they were asked to be, but their gushing was ridiculous considering his mediocre performance. He would have got slated in another week.

I didn't want him to go home, but his attitude this week, the elevator thing and the handsiness between him and Katya (you couldn't keep your hands by your sides for one week??), has put me right off.

Oh and Katyas "it's been an amazing week" nonsense.

I'd like them to go now, please.
