Anyone watching?

It’s already annoying me. Maggie is no more pregnant.... so it’s been a couple of weeks max then? Unless she’s had the baby?

Beth’s was quite good too...unexpected. Didn’t particularly like her, but didn’t see it coming.

....I’m just sat here reminiscing about the best deaths in The Walking Dead 😁

Sophia in the barn! (One of my favourite episodes ever)
Shane!
Coral!

Micah and Lizzie! (Another one of my favourite episodes. God that was a shocker.)

Ahh. Have I mentioned I love this programme?

glowfrog · 31/10/2018 21:41

@Blondeshavemorefun there's a shot in the trailer for this season that shows someone's feet as they struggled to walk, while blood drips from above - and those feet look like they are Rick's as it is clearly his boots.

I think he will get himself off that metal thing somehow, and if he's lying unconscious and not moving it's possible the hordes will go for the horse first.

@DrMidgeryMargery Noah = "everybody ate Chris"

I don't want Rick to die. He's the one that started the story. Bad enough Carl is gone in that sense. I don't want poor Judith to lose him, either.

I miss Tyrese a lot.

Daryl needs a haircut and to drop the hair dye.

cherrytree63 · 01/11/2018 07:06

I'm clinging onto the hope that Rick won't die, it's just a marketing ploy to boost viewing numbers!
I'm not enjoying the show like I used to, I don't concentrate so much or rewatch the episodes now, so can't keep track of all the different characters and groups.
Have the writers and producers ever said why they killed off good strong characters such as Glenn and Abraham?

glowfrog · 01/11/2018 08:26

@cherrytree63 Both Glenn and Abraham die in the comics - Glenn dies as per the show but Abraham is killed by Dwight.

They obviously killed Abraham at the same time as Glenn for the shock factor - you think Glenn won't be killed, and then he is.

Tbf to the producers, TWD is the kind of show where you do need to kill off big characters from time to time or there's not much tension left if you know all these people will be fine.

Carl doesn't die in the comics, mind you, and that's definitely the producers wanting to shake things up (plus there are rumours of Chandler Riggs' dad mucking it up for his son).

If Rick dies, it'll make the show ever bleaker...

Judith dies as a baby back at the prison in the comics so I suppose there's that....

cushioncovers · 01/11/2018 08:50

Sophia in the barn is one of my favourite episodes as well.

Willow2017 · 01/11/2018 09:42

Sophia in the barn was one of the first real gut wrenching 'deaths'. 😭😭

I hate it when someone dies. They are family!😔

Clinging to the hope Rick doesnt die. Also pretty mad they revealed it so early but glad they are making a big deal of Andrew leaving.

Gimple kiled off Carl just for edge. He wanted shock tactics in the name of 'story' he is such a smug git all "look at me i am so badass killing off Carl and changing the whole storyline."
Chandlers dad made a noise after they sprung the storyline on him (Chandler) after he had just signed a 3 yr contract and bought a house where they filmed TWD.

Really anoyed he is on Talking Dead next week when its all about Andrew/Rick as he will make it all about him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2018 14:25

Wonder why they stray from the mags

I hoping rick doesn’t die. He goes off in a helicopter and comes
And saves them all in a few series times

This can’t run for ever

And why still so many zomblies as they kill so many and don’t get back up - they obv don’t reproduce so where are the dead coming dolmas have 3 basic camps

glowfrog · 01/11/2018 14:46

Well, a story doesn't quite work the same way onscreen as it does on paper. And once you introduce a change here or there, it snowballs. Plus it means you can still surprise the comics readers.

Fun facts: in the comics Carol kills herself at the prison and Sophia lives on. Andrea also lives until they get rid of Negan and is basically Michonne: a top sniper and Rick's girlfriend (she was younger in the comics as well, as was Dale, who became her boyfriend until he suffered Bob's fate).

As to why the zombies are still around: the virus slows down decomposition and tbf the zombies still around are looking pretty decrepit and are easier to kill overall. Remember in s1 when they RUN after Rick when he arrives in Atlanta on his horse?

DrMidgeryMargery · 01/11/2018 17:24

Glowfrog Yes! The running-and-rock-wielding zombies! I like their gradual decomposition. I started again from the beginning a few weeks ago and I’ve just got to the one on the farm where there’s the zombie down the well and he’s all bloated and tears in half. Top zombie action, that one.

raisinsraisins · 02/11/2018 18:48

I feel like this season has gone back to the old style character led storytelling that we’ve not had the last few seasons.

One thing I love about the women characters in the series is that there is no threat of rape (apart from Negan and his “wives”, and earlier on when Carl was about to be). I hate that in most other types of drama on TV now there is brutal rape to make it more realistic. It puts me off watching a lot of things, although I’m obviously not put off by graphic, grotesque zombie deaths!

Torvi · 02/11/2018 19:23

Yes, I had forgotten about the story telling from a character's POV. I enjoy that.

I thought it was a good episode. I liked the feeling that the dead were a threat again.

I'm not sure about losing Rick though as this is really his story.

glowfrog · 02/11/2018 19:32

@raisinsraisins Maggie was sexually assaulted by the Governor and Rick had to rip out that biker's throat with his teeth to save Carl from being raped that time...

I do love that the women are written as people and not "women" IYWIM.

And yes, now there's tension within the main group again, it's properly suspenseful once more.

Also agreed on Rick leaving. It is his story... He should survive it all.

I'll never get over Carl!

Ontheboardwalk · 05/11/2018 21:49

Anyone watching?

Torvi · 05/11/2018 22:00

Me!

Rafflesway · 05/11/2018 22:02

Just finished watching!

Really pleased Rick isn't dead. According to news on the internet, Rick's story from now on will be covered via 3 movie length episodes over the next couple of years.

Interesting ending tonight. They have jumped 6 years apparently.

Torvi · 05/11/2018 22:04

I also enjoyed it. I feel sad but looking forward to next week.

What makes a type a and type b person? 🤔

Ontheboardwalk · 05/11/2018 22:07

I want to start a horse army in TWD. If I was a horse I’d have fecked them off a long time ago and got out of there.

StormyLovesOdd · 05/11/2018 22:08

OMG that was an amazing episode, I'm proper excited about TWD again. I hope they show the movies on UK TV.

Loved the time jump, Carols hair, Judith, etc, etc.

That was superb. Loved seeing Shane, Hershel etc

I'm not sure about the time jump. So much happens on a day to day basis and we'll have missed so much. We'll be plunged right back in to their daily gripes and betrayals and near misses and be expected to the care about that when we'll have missed 5 years of just the same?

But I do trust the new showrunners so I can't wait to see what they come up with.

StripySocksAndDocs · 05/11/2018 22:41

Judith. Full on kick ass. ❤.

sj257 · 05/11/2018 23:02

Not sure what to think! 😱

DrMidgeryMargery · 05/11/2018 23:02

Gah I didn’t like it. I wanted to. I’ve been looking forward to it all day. I loved seeing Shane though, and I cried when the bridge blew up and thought that was the end of Rick. Should have ended it there. He could have died then and it would have been a good death. The Judith clip was just a slice of pure cheese too far. Extremely cheesy.

Scott M. Gimple’s just been on Talking Dead and confirmed what Rafflesaway said about the Rick story being picked up in a film series.

What about Jadis though? Does that mean she’s left TWD too?

FangTasticFeast · 05/11/2018 23:06

I didn’t like the idea of Rick flying off into the sunset but actually watching it all and it was better than I expected

FangTasticFeast · 05/11/2018 23:07

Still not sure about the movies though
