I suppose the BBC might still engineer a win for Joe if he makes it to the finals without mucking up spectacularly. If only to raise the Strictly profile with da yoof and secure it's future

It was pretty nauseating watching Susannah paw all over Anton on ITT.

Agree that Joe may well win Strictly just because of the number of people voting for him. I don't think he will be in the dance off.

I think if Gorka or Giovanni did the ankle biting to one of their partners people would be a bit more than at them..

It's perfectly possible for someone to win if they have enough votes behind them regardless of the judges scores. If Joe has enough public votes he will never go into a dance off and will make it all the way to the final. The final is public vote only, the judges scores are just for information.

I don't think the BBC would even care that the best dancer didn't win (and who know, Joe might end up being the best dancer, often the winner has been a bit rubbish for the first few weeks) if they manage to pull in a whole new demographic to the viewing audience. Even my DD (aged 10) has said that she might be starting to like Strictly this series.

Anton choreographed some arse-grabbing by SC in their travesty of a samba so maybe that was something they were both comfortable with.

I'm surprised so many people hate Halloween week.. but I will admit I would happily ditch movie week.
I'd really like a new week instead for a change!

I am in a minority of one in now finding that samba a very guilty pleasure (I know!). Any arse-grabbing in farewell will have been a play on that and will probably be the memorable moment used in the contestants' lookback group dance at Xmas! Tony Beak's tweet was to dispel daily mail report of him being arsey about who he gets paired up with...don't blame him in the slightest for refuting it.
I do think the order - samba then foxtrot - hobbled them more and a waltz then charleston would have been safer but someone has to go out first. Even Pashpot had that honour so no-one is properly immune if their slebs don't have a fanbase.

In the quiz ERB I pitched a zombie Princess Di argentine tango to dirty Diana but then blatantly sucked up to Chris by backing it up with his longed for Morticia/Gomez tango.
When in truth currently it would be a paso to Emperor's new clothes PATD or Lord above, a street dance to Scream and Shout (you are now now rocking with KFG and Stacey witch) [hsmile]

Joe has the face of an 80 year old - it's very distracting.

Im not sure his/Zoellas YouTube fans are going to make that much difference. Zoellas popularity has dropped off a cliff and all that pack of Brit YouTubers has the whiff of yesterday's craze. They've all lost subscribers as the yoooof have moved on to newer faces.

In fact, this is definitely Joe going "YouTube ain't gonna last much longer, must get that Cbeebies gig".

@ElspethFlashman I think you may be underestimating his fandom a bit there. His videos of his dances on YouTube have 1.6M & 967k views in comparison to the seemingly measly 20-90k views all the other dancers have.
It's the same on Instagram too, his first dance has 809k views compared to 80-100k views for the rest of them.

Which if they are all voting for him.. says he could go to the final (to me at least)

Plus the other slight dancer that is new this year due to Joe.. with these hoards of fans, I bet many of them won't will be watching the entire shows, just his dances & then voting regardless. It would be very interesting to see the voting figures as I bet his are sky high.

I suppose Joe needs to make his money/mark asap as at 27, he must know his clock is ticking. What is the shelf life of a 30 something "child"?

I like the theme weeks! It makes the dances more individual and memorable when there's a bit of story/theming to them. They can all blur together a bit when it's lots of traditional pretty ballroom and party Latin.

However there does still need to be a decent amount of actual dancing amongst all the story-telling which isn't always the case...

I'm so confused, why do people think Joe is not a good dancer?! I think he has a huge number of fans but sure as hell hes a good dancer too.

@MissCuriousCat just to clarify, I don't think he's a bad dancer & actually enjoy watching him dance. But if it gets to the point where he isn't one of the best among the celebs, it's obviously in his advantage to have such a huge fan base in comparison to keep him out of the bottom two.

Dang, Byron Langley is hot. If Joe was hypothetically hitting that, he is punching above his weight. he needs to put on weight
