Anyone going to be watching the new Doctor Who now it is a woman?
Love Jodie as an actress. Never been fussed on the doctor before!!

Graham is as wooden as the tardis. He only has one expression and it's a cross between bemused and constipated.

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/10/2018 20:59

Or wanting the giant one to suffocate. Neither were very humane

Mr Big's motives were not kind but in real life an animal in that condition would have been euthanised, not left to suffocate.

Graham and Ryan are developing nicely. There is no point to Yazz.

Tahani · 28/10/2018 21:02

I thought it was awful

I so wanted to enjoy Dr who with a woman, I like JW, but nope I hate it

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 28/10/2018 21:03

Mmm, rather more realistic then in The Planet of the Spiders, certainly, TheNumberFaker! Grin 🕷

TheNumberfaker · 28/10/2018 21:13

I’m going to woman up and have a peek...

StripySocksAndDocs · 28/10/2018 21:16

Yaz provides the family back home. Graham and Ryan having no one. She’ll need to go back at some point (without the bread).

Defenbaker · 28/10/2018 21:18

I hated this episode and the ending made no sense. Dr W made a fuss about the bloke shooting one giant spider, but was happy to seal the rest into the panic room to slowly starve/suffocate to death. Not exactly humane. It seems that Dr W lost the power of reasoned thought when she regenerated into a woman, because the way the role is being played she comes across as clueless. I don't like her accent or her outfit (I realise that some may love those aspects, this is just my opinion) and am just not enjoying this series at all. They've even messed with the music. Ah well, it's really aimed at kids now, so I will leave them to this dumbed down version of Dr W.

herecomesthsun · 28/10/2018 21:28

#None of it made any sense.

Stupid to stay in a building infested with homicidal spiders.

Stupid not to shot them FGS.

Stupid to go wandering off down tunnels where the spiders might be lurking.

Letting them into the panic room FGS

Hip hop FGS

Talking to them as if they are intelligent beings, they are spiders FGS you are not Dr Doolittle.

Christ on a bus.

herecomesthsun · 28/10/2018 21:30

However, last week was really good and up till now I have really enjoyed watching JW, accent and all.

TerfedOff · 28/10/2018 21:32

Well we are all big Doctor Who fans here and have given this new doctor four chances and we think she is very disappointing.

Before we watched tonight's episode we rewatched the first ever Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston so the first of the revamped series. It was still brilliant well acted exciting and Christopher Eccleston was a fantastic Dr.

This series seems to have really dumbed down Doctor Who and it almost feels like a CBBC programme instead.

TheNavigator · 28/10/2018 21:33

It is a kids show! I hated all the pseudo clever timey wimey meta story line stuff. It isn't 'dumbing down', it has gone back to its Sunday family viewing roots - no need to overthink the plot, just enjoy.

TerfedOff · 28/10/2018 21:36

These four episodes have been terrible. The first one I don't think we even watched the ending we all got bored and wandered off.

Yes it's a family show but it should also appeal to people over the age of 6.

TheNumberfaker · 28/10/2018 22:01

Currently too big to be realistic.

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/10/2018 22:09

I hope she goes home and stays there. I've always found the companions' families irritating and pointless. Martha's family were tedious. And as for Clara's dreadful boyfriend. I was pleased when he was killed. I don't remember Amy and Rory having much of a family and they worked really well as companions.

I agree with Defenbaker- the plot was terrible.

It is not overthinking the plot. It hardly needs a degree in English to think "what happened to the other spiders? So she just locked them in to die?"

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 28/10/2018 22:23

I wasn't so keen on this episode - but I still think it had good moments. I’m actually quite liking JW as Doctor Who - she has a vulnerability, but it doesn't stop her getting things done.

TheNumberfaker · 28/10/2018 22:33

Well, I didn’t like it when there were hundreds of them moving around, but I found them tolerable individually. I think it would have been scarier if they were closer to normal size it thousands of them.

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/10/2018 22:36

Were the spiders in the flat next door but one to Yazz's family supposed to hot foot it to the panic room ? If not are they still there?

StripySocksAndDocs · 28/10/2018 22:42

He, he, yes not being realistic and making sense, definitely an issue with a Doctor Who episode.

Furball · 28/10/2018 22:43

Odd way to solve it but we all watched from behind cushions, I would of got behind the sofa if there wasn't a chance of any spiders behind it Grin

StripySocksAndDocs · 28/10/2018 22:44

@TheNumberfaker have to agree, but I was pleased some where ridiculously sized, made it easier to view.

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/10/2018 22:48

Well written science- fiction and fantasy should make sense within the structure and constraints of the fantasy world.

Of course the plot will not be realistic in the real world but it should be realistic within the structure of the fantasy world. The Rosa Parks episode met that criteria- this one didn't.

CountFosco · 28/10/2018 22:49

Well DD2 was cuddled up to GM and hiding the screen with a throw so it was definitely scary for a 9 year old!

I enjoyed Chris Noth being evil but my sister was very upset, she loves Mr Big/Florrick but hates spiders so couldn't eatch!

LassWiADelicateAir · 28/10/2018 22:53

I don't have small children in the house but this episode and the first one had what I would have assumed were pretty scary monsters.

SESthebrave · 28/10/2018 23:02

I agree that the storyline to this week's episode was a bit week to put it politely. However, I'm still loving JW as Dr Who and am going to stick with it and hope this week was just a blip.

Vegisgrowingwell · 29/10/2018 13:03

My 10 year old had to leave the room!!!!
