Presumably the 4 babies are free - though I dont know whose laps they will all sit on on the flight.

JustDanceAddict · 30/08/2018 09:03

The 10 year old and his aftershaves. DD said ‘he doesn’t even shave’ misses point

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2018 10:24

10tr a spoilt brat imo

He gets what he is given till he can afford to buy his self

The 4 red shirts were interesting with touch

And yes silly trying out single Buggies and not doubles

And a quad costs less then their super duper twin I candy donkey

I seen it! Jesus Wept, was it really necessary to spend that much on a pram? Ridiculous.

What an extraordinarily stupid thing to say.

Borntobeamum · 30/08/2018 11:52

Really SlimmingMumof1?!?

mydogisthebest · 30/08/2018 11:55

I thought the couple seemed really nice but their son was a spoilt brat. I didn't like the grandmother at all. Spoilt son has taken after her with her attitude

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2018 12:26

Many people with twins but that buggy thinking it’s costly so the best
AMazing the quad was half the price and she could take all 4 out

Second hand toys and clothes would help savings

What I didn't get though was that they had a Joie twin stroller for the older 2. That is definitely not a top of the range item or particularly well known brand so at some point someone thought to spend a bit less?

QueenoftheNights · 30/08/2018 12:59

I missed the first part which perhaps showed how much income they had. Did it tell us this? Does the gran work and what's her income?

They came over as dim and DH snorted when the mum was described as an 'engineer' [ his pet hate that the profession is not closed to non-graduates and only for chartered engineers like it is in Germany].

That aside, how much did they spend beyond their income?

ASAS · 30/08/2018 14:32

Really unfair of me but do you think she was given Clomid? I'm struggling to TTC and found via MN of all places that fertility treatment in Wales is really open and doesn't fuck you over the way I have been in Scotland There was a tense evening in our house seeing a big age gap and 2 sets of twins.

topcat2014 · 30/08/2018 17:49

I currently spend zero on moisturiser - so did wonder if I do need to up my game a bit..

They have to pick extreme examples to make good telly.

Not the 10 y/o fault - he learned everything from his dad.

I had brut 33 at 13

user1471426142 · 30/08/2018 18:15

The programme did make me irrationally angry. I can’t work out whether it is the concept of ‘saving money’ despite the fact they already have the stuff, the hypocritical position of the (rich) presenters or the stupid advice. I actually really like eat well for less even though it can be a bit predictable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2018 18:42

Agree showing them how they could save money ie buggy’s and steriliser and bottles was pointless

But the nappies and body products and clothes

Wonder why they didn’t buy two jolie buggies

Or even a quad when twins born unless granny always about or wouldn’t be able to go out with all 4

OP posts:
SlimmingMumOf1 · 30/08/2018 18:44

I think it is a good idea that they showed them about how you can use cheaper bottles and sterilisers because other people watching the programme can learn from it (or those who are expecting). And it also educates us that branded does not always mean it is best!

olderthanyouthink · 30/08/2018 21:55

Just watched it on iPlayer because I got an email from the nappy lady about the supplying the nappies for the show. Bit much for them to go for disposables to reusable for 4 in one go and I know it can be a bit trial and error in the beginning.

RandomMess · 30/08/2018 22:54

I think them trying out buggies/highchairs/sterilisers was very much about that they just buy a top brand without any research into what would work best for them regardless of the brand!

There addiction is to automatically buying top brand and never considering anything else.

BarbaraofSevillle · 31/08/2018 22:15

Just caught up with this. How much fucking moisturiser did that bloke use?

The savings voice-over suggested he was using 2 tubes a month. I buy maybe one moisturiser a quarter. What is he doing with it to use so much? The use of products and brand dependency by the 10 YO was ridiculous. Is that normal these days?

I wonder if they had considered that she returned to work with the DH doing most of the childcare, assisted by her DM? I would have thought that an IT engineer would earn more with possibly more flexibility than a HGV driver?

Beeziekn33ze · 01/09/2018 01:12

Nan saying smugly 'What Mackenzie wants, Mackenzie gets!' Toxic or just crazy?
Meanwhile 10 year old Mackenzie is sure that if he wears anything less than overpriced Arsenal regalia girls won't fancy him and people will sneer at him. Terrible attitude but learned at home!

BarbaraofSevillle · 01/09/2018 04:39

They didn't say how much any of them earnt, but they needed to spend less because the Mum's maternity pay was about to run out and it seemed that she wasn't going back to work. They had been using savings as well, which had also run out, I think.

Agree that there was no point telling them to switch for things like car seats that they had already bought, but it was good to show that you don't necessarily need to buy the most expensive option to get something that works well and is good quality/safe etc. They'll benefit when the children are older and they need different car seats?

Hilarious and predictable based on previous episodes that the boy hated his normal aftershave and liked the (presumably Aldi or Lidl) deoderant better than the normal one that cost £5/6 a can.

She can't be a Mumsnetter, or else she would already know that Aldi nappies are better than Pampers at half the price. I've seen that recommended loads of times on here.

Samcro · 01/09/2018 18:31

just watched it. I was shocked that they tried to get her to use washable nappies!

RandomChitchat · 01/09/2018 23:07

ASAS Sorry about your problems ttc. Not sure that they would've gone through IVF Wales, as when we were being seen you got no free treatment if either partner already had a child but I don't see the very start of the programme and I guess things may have changed.

RandomChitchat · 01/09/2018 23:08

*didn't see
Also agree that the eldest child was ruined and gran's attitude was terrible.

woodhill · 02/09/2018 13:24

So materialistic. Why did they need any more football shirts. Spoilt McKenzie and being made to grow up too quickly. Wasn't he still at primary school.

How about ebay or charity shops for baby clothes not an £80 outfit. Just don't understand
