I was thinking Adam and Jenny. She's had such a shit time and deserves a fit young bloke. Either him or Imran.

Would jim macdonald even get in to the USA with his criminal record?!?

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 14/09/2018 23:44

I wondered about that too bullying. He was most recently convicted of armed robbery. Not sure what his previous conviction(s?) was for.

Deadringer · 15/09/2018 00:35

Jim used to be a bit of a dick with very poor judgement iirc but this storyline is pure evil and so cruel. And are we really supposed to believe that an attractive young woman would fall for Jim, an aging ex con with a life limiting illness, no job, no money and no prospects who is obsessed with his ex wife. A man who is capable of coming up with a nasty, cold hearted, vengeful scheme that uses the death of his only daughter for financial gain. He is not exactly a catch so he's not.

YearOfYouRemember · 15/09/2018 07:49

I think she's thinking of the money. They thought Liz owned the pub.

KlutzyDraconequus · 15/09/2018 08:15

What happened with the Ryan / Ali story? It just sort of stopped.. was him miraculously remembering the password supposed to be the conclusion? Bit rubbish if it was.

Clawdy · 15/09/2018 08:29

I missed him remembering the pass word, thought he found the book in the rubbish, but the password wasn't in it?

TheMotherChip · 15/09/2018 08:36

At least one good thing about the Jim/Katie storyline is that when their lie is exposed surely they’ll never be able to bring back Jim into the show in future - Liz and Steve would never have anything to do with him after sinking to those depths.
I’m a bit disappointed by the Tyrone storyline. That had potential at first to be really gripping when we found out he had been stolen/given away at birth. It was ridiculous how he turned to Roy who searched library records, surely in a case like that you would go to the police to ask if they knew if any cases of baby abduction at the time. It all seemed to easy for Tyrone to find his gran. I’m hoping she’s only in it temporarily and it turns out not to be her and he finds a nicer family.

Clionba · 15/09/2018 08:57

Why has this got so absurd? I keep thinking it'll get better. I agree with pp above, the Tyrone storyline could have been intriguing, but it got silly. Evelyn isn't an acerbic, strong, older woman like characters in the past. She's offensive and sociopathic. Waste of a great actress.

Last nights episodes were terrible, horrible storyline with jim, crap storyline with Tyrone, creepy storyline with Sophie and Paula, ridiculous unfunny storyline with Ryan/Ali.

It was so stupid. All that searching for a book and then when they couldn’t find it he suddenly remembered the password was lyrics to a song Hmm

Deadringer · 15/09/2018 11:55

The weird thing about Evelyn is that she is just like bloody Jackie, the nasty, scheming, thieving woman who Tyrone hated.

EachandEveryone · 15/09/2018 11:59

I find it hard to believe she’d been evicted so many times.

ellenanora5 · 15/09/2018 12:15

It's really hit an all time low with the last nights two episodes.

Tyrone didn't know Evelyn five minutes yet walks into the shop and says "Hi Nana" as if he'd known her all his life, he doesn't even have any proof that they are related does he?

They Katie story line is appalling.

thenightsky · 15/09/2018 12:24

Seriously, I think they need to sack the writers and take on some mumsnetters on a fixed term contract for a while, just to get the standards up again.

eddiemairswife · 15/09/2018 13:01

Why does everything have to be so rushed?
Why on earth can't they let Tyrone develop a relationship with Evelyn over several weeks/months?

southeastdweller · 16/09/2018 10:01

Only Corrie would hire an actress as great as Maureen Lipman and saddle her with terrible writing for her character and story. She's wiping the floor with the other people she's got scenes with - the dreaded Fizz, Tyrone and hammy old Dev. I hope she's getting paid a lot of money.

The Sophie cougar story is another example of a really good actress in scenes with someone who's really poor at their job.

EachandEveryone · 16/09/2018 10:15

Its so sad when you think of the greatness her husband brought to the show. As well as the money, i bet she had sentimental reasons for doing it coronationstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Jack_Rosenthal its disgraceful really. I cant see her hanging around.

Optimist1 · 16/09/2018 12:41

Agree with you all about the Maureen Lipman character. She could have exposed her unpleasant character as the Tyrone plot developed (ML has the skill to do this subtly and with the humour we crave in Corrie). She didn't need to burst onto our screens and into the plot with full blown venom and malice.

Clawdy · 16/09/2018 15:47

And what's the betting she will turn into an old sweetie in a few weeks? With the little girls adoring her? Grin

Helpimfalling · 16/09/2018 15:58

I actually had to google if Kate the girl who works in the bistro and Hannah the new girl we're related In real life

To me they look so alike

xJessica · 16/09/2018 16:43

Is it just me who wants to chop that bit off the front of Paula's hair at the right hand side? Grin

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 16/09/2018 19:24

Not just you jessica! Grin it’s stupid looking.

eddiemairswife · 16/09/2018 19:49

I'm afraid I really had to rack my brains to think who Paula was.

Boswellox · 16/09/2018 20:00

Watched the Omnibus and it was painful. Clunky "humour" and cringeworthy "drama". It seemed almost intentional?

Boswellox · 16/09/2018 20:03

PS. Anyone else noticed trendy looking "Bistro Guy". Give him a storyline!
