Hi all

Here is the next thread for those who are watching The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 on Channel 4. Please don't put any spoilers on this - the other thread (for those in other countries who are watching ahead of the UK) is:

Thank you tomove

Iggi999 · 29/07/2018 22:05

She needed to shoot to try to get help for the baby - but then delivered successfully alone anyway! So might have been ok to escape with the baby. I couldn’t watch her with the baby in case someone came in and took her away.

MarshaBradyo · 29/07/2018 22:06

Agree Monstiamo I thought that too

Oldowl · 29/07/2018 22:06

I watch with the subtitles on.

When there is noise in the background it says 'SIREN WAILS' or 'CAR APPROACHES', I saw lights, but the subtitles said nothing and gave no indication a car was approaching.

Monstamio · 29/07/2018 22:07

I wanted the baby to bf but had to remind myself it wasn’t real - felt frustrated!

Me too! I kept wondering why she didn't just stick her on the boob!

CoolCarrie · 29/07/2018 22:07

Oh June! You did it !!!

Aridane · 29/07/2018 22:07

My least favourite episode of series 2

Aridane · 29/07/2018 22:07

(Sorry)

Roussette · 29/07/2018 22:07

I think she could still escape. The shots didn't do anything. And if she can get some sleep, maybe she will be strong enough to get the car out

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 29/07/2018 22:09

I fully expected her to latch her on. I was waiting for it to happen. I wonder why they didn’t write it that way.

Hygge · 29/07/2018 22:10

I think had this been real she would have died haemorrhaging before she had the baby or shortly after.

I can't see it being Nick. Not unless the Waterford's are with him. I think that they Waterford's will have found Nick or been contacted by the people who caught him, and he will have explained they were ambushed and June had been left alone.

That will bring everybody back and she'll be taken back. She'll have to tell them she was trapped or unconscious or something.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 29/07/2018 22:10

What else would those lights have been if not a car?

WhirlwindHugs · 29/07/2018 22:11

The lights looked like a car to me.

Really hoping it's Nick, but it's probably local security.

theredjellybean · 29/07/2018 22:12

I liked it... The power of maternal love, she thought the baby might not deliver safely so trying to get help despite knowing the consequence was her only choice.
I did think it was weak in the fact in that situation I think most women would have looked for other ways of getting the garage door open.. Look for electric mains switch... Saw or shoot through door to start a weakening to drive at.. Look for other tools..
Or would you hunker down, risk the birth and wait it out, then try to escape again. As now know one thinks she's there???

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 29/07/2018 22:13

I think that they Waterford's will have found Nick or been contacted by the people who caught him, and he will have explained they were ambushed and June had been left alone.

I don’t think they’d heard from nick because they weren’t even sure nick and serena had been there at the start and then serena (I think) said they (nick and June) had run off with the baby.

melisma · 29/07/2018 22:14

Those were definitely car lights, I thought. I agree with PP, I wanted her to just get on and latch the baby on already! Also thought for such a visceral and raw birthing scene, the baby was oddly clean for a newborn Grin

ohdeardeardear · 29/07/2018 22:15

Fucking two more episodes. I cannot cope with this.

Worriedmum42 · 29/07/2018 22:16

I now need to watch ahead as will be away for next few weeks and cannot bare the wait...does anyone know how I can do this???

Hygge · 29/07/2018 22:17

@AWoman - no they hadn't heard from Nick when they came to the house the first time.

So at that point they might have thought they had run away together.

But a whole day has passed since then.

Fred said something about reporting them missing or getting help to find them as they left the house.

Nick has had time to come around after being knocked out since then. Time to be interrogated. Time to ask to see Fred.

So now, the Waterford's might have spoken to Nick, been told what happened, and come back with or without Nick knowing June had been abandoned as the guards didn't know she was there when they took Nick.

OhHolyJesus · 29/07/2018 22:21

@Worriedmum42 look up and download Hulu - but don't share any spoilers here! Wink

I'll wait it out with Channel 4 til the end, if my heart can take it.

Worriedmum42 · 29/07/2018 22:22

Thanks - I won't don't worry - I would usually wait too but I can't possibly wait 4 weeks! Thanks

WatermelonGold · 29/07/2018 22:25

I’m confused about Nick now. I watched the beginning on slow mo and it is definitely not Nick who gets shot, it’s one of the guards.

Hopefully the headlights at the end were nick coming to rescue June and baby but his relationship with the Waterford’s is now dead so how will he survive?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 29/07/2018 22:25

Ahh ok hygge, yes I understand your now.

TangelasVine · 29/07/2018 22:28

Just checking in after watching. I thought the baby was stillborn and that's why she said about telling the story to make her real? The Wolf and the baby crying all in her imagination?
I hope I'm wrong

WatermelonGold · 29/07/2018 22:31

Tangelas I thought the baby was going to be stillborn after she was bleeding and then held her stomach, as if she no longer felt any movements.

But the baby cried when it was born and when June was talking to the baby, she did that baby grunt noise and also moved her arm near June’s face.
