Did anyone watch Paradise Hotel years ago? It was an American programme but pretty similar to Love Island only MUCH more brutal with lots of scheming happening. I LOVED it!!

Re Megan, I think she is so easily led (by men) because she might not have got much attention before her big make over so never actually learned how to deal with all the attention and now that she has become what she is now she just feels overwhelmed with it all and doesn't know how to deal with it.

Interesting how in that interview, Ellie states Jack called her a 'fucking dickhead' in an argument and it was never shown on TV. This is why the show annoys me, it cherry picks what people see and then snap judgements are made about the contestants by the public.
I don't think Jack and Dani are as lovely as everyone thinks. After all, Dani made those comments about Ellie at recoupling (about not fucking talking to her) these had to be shown as recoupling had to be shown on TV. Yet Jack swearing at a woman was not shown as they don't want the public to go off him.

I don't think any of us are surprised at how the producers manipulate the show. Former islanders have hinted and implied and Ellie Jones has now confirmed it.

I actually have sympathy for Jack calling Ellie what he did. He seemed genuinely surprised when she went in and she was there purely to break him and Dani up. I'd be furious if it was me. And it won't have been shown because there would have been the risk of viewers turning against Jack and Dani.

This year the manipulation and editing has been so obvious. I can only presume because this year's islanders are dull compared to previous years.

I don't think any of us truly know what any of the islanders are actually like. I'm starting to feel sorry for Megan, Laura, Ellie and Georgia. They have all received a lot of hatred online and on social media but it is quite possible they are lovely girls and have been shown in a certain way purely for ratings.

I can see why he called her a dickhead too, but I can also see why other islanders have lost their temper too yet this has been shown on TV and they have been vilified for it. As pp have said, as we all know it is staged and manipulated by the producers so I shouldn't be surprised.
Why shouldn't Ellie have gone in? She has as much right as anyone, Jack and Dani aren't the King and Queen of the villa (or Queen and Queen's brother). I actually don't get all the love for them, I know Jack can be funny, but as a couple they are so boring to watch.

I don't like her. She knew she was going in to try to cause problems between Jack and Dani, and was happy to play that unpleasant role.

Pretending to let little things 'slip', like the poster, when she always knew she was going to tell Dani about that.

It's quite obvious she's resentful. Maybe she still likes him. Maybe she just doesn't want to see him building a career after treating her so badly.

Now she's out and receiving criticism it's all 'oh I was told to say that'.

This has always been how reality TV functions. I watched a season of B.B. when I had a difficult pregnancy (that’s my excuse) - the difference between events as they happened on the live feed and the producers’ edited version was massive.

Producers edit the narrative to suit themselves and the ratings. They choose to portray certain characters in certain lights which may not be representative. A good or bad edit just before a vote has a big impact on that vote. It’s not scripted but it’s highly manipulated.

Anyone who spends time watching reality TV should be wise to this.

The TV series Unreal - is a fabulous representation of how structured realty shows work. (OTT, dark humour, but elements of truth).

Agree Tatiana, & Unreal was a brilliant show - very eye opening (& I doubt too much of it was exaggerated.)

But I do believe that Jack is getting the honey edit. With another Islander, the "fiery exchange" would be shown as its TV Gold.

I mean fiery exchanges are what reality tv are made of! But according to the edit Jack's been given, he's practically a living Saint.

Don't get me wrong I do like the guy, he's not a bad egg. And actually I do think he loves Dani now - whatever his initial reasons for picking her were. But his depiction has been very one dimensional.

I have no doubt she was told to say those things on camera, that’s how it works.

She will have told the producers prior to her appearance about her relationship with Jack, and they will have told her to say x, y and z on camera and set up a scene to do so.

I think she probably thought was going in for herself as much as her relationship with Jack. She’s not bright and she’s fairly naive.

RoseWhiteTips - but how do we really know as the whole show is a set up? None of us knew anything about Samira and Frankie's relationship because it was not shown. Islanders have come out saying they are told what to say and how to say it. Any time Jack and Dani say anything slightly dodgy it is withheld from the viewers. Tabloids have dug up every bit of dirt on certain islanders to further increase the negativity. I'm sure most of us have unflattering or dodgy photos - or at least that can be construed in such a way - that we wouldn't want all over the media.

So, I am perfectly willing to accept that Megan, Ellie and Georgia could possibly be lovely girls because we just don't actually know what is real and what has been faked.

I actually don't care who wins now. They have all played a good game and have been played.

But that can be controlled. Apparently Ellie razed through her social media like a spitfire before she went in and deleted everything.

Mind you, a lot of Megan's "material" was not her own. And that infamous mousey photo of her with the enormous glasses looked like it was taken by some company or something as an ID.

But you can control your profile a lot more than most did. Laura's Insta is vast. Lots of photos with family, including one of a family member with SN. I'd have deleted all those, personally.
