I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

Kyle Edmund has just popped up at Silverstone. Good way to decompress after the match yesterday.

I love that Bartoli said that.

whatnextfred · 08/07/2018 14:33

Federer is on Bear Grylls tonight

PrivateParkin · 08/07/2018 16:21

I like a lot of the stuff Kyle has said about yesterday - how sport is nothing without fans etc. He seems like a genuine kind of guy, and yes, it's good that he's taken some time out.

Bagel I feel the same about Roddick. He should have at least sneaked one Wimbledon. A shame he didn't. It was great that they made him an honorary member.

Raahh you are brave heading to Primark at the weekend! Hope you've recovered!

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:02

private -It's taken a while.Grin I have warned her , in future- she queues for the changing rooms when we are there, or we buy nothing! Grin.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:12

Fed never looked young, did he?

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:20

No Grin

The cardigan didn't help.

Rafa's family are lovely.

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:22

The other good thing about 2008 was it was peak sleeveless shirt period for Rafa.

I mean. Those arms. Grin.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:23

I loved Uncle Toni saying just because you can hit a tennis ball perfectly doesn't mean you shouldn't be humble.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:24

Mmm hmm, the arms.

Aww cute Roger and Mirka.

I'm supposed to be cooking but I have zero energy.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:25

what which channel is Bear Grylls on? I treat his programmes as comedy!

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:30

Bloody hell- I know how this ends, and it's still nerve wracking to watch (mainly because I know how this set pans out) Grin

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:38

Oh I remember 1980 too- my mum was glued to it, I was 8 and a half. It was amazing.

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:40

Retiring at 26. Can you imagine that today?

Most players don't get going at that age these days!

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:50

It's just as good seeing it 10 years laters Grin.

His dad was so proud.

And Federer looked like he was going to play cricket Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:53

I'll have to watch properly later. Have to cook for this ungrateful lot!

I remember 1980 too. I was gutted.

Rafa is such a sweetheart.

OP posts:
whatnextfred · 08/07/2018 19:54

He really is. Great program

Raahh · 08/07/2018 19:57

They do really respect each other- and I don't think it is forced at all.

They clearly enjoyed playing together at the Laver Cup.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 19:59

Yes there's some lovely videos of them together. They always have a good laugh. But on court it's war Grin

OP posts:
whatnextfred · 08/07/2018 20:11

I shed a tear watching Federer saying he'd have shared a draw with Rafa if he could have

PrivateParkin · 08/07/2018 20:13

I haven't seen it yet - just saw the first ten mins before someone demanded the TV. Was that Pancho Gonzalez they shook hands with as they stepped out on court? I've recorded it to watch later, in peace!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 20:33

This is a quote from the man in charge of the stringing department "Some players are demanding, others charming, says Phillips. ‘Sometimes you get the feeling that someone’s waiting politely at the counter and you look up and it’s Rafa [Nadal].’" from The Telegraph. aww

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2018 20:45

Jane that's lovely. He is lovely.

I'm we can hazard a guess at who some of the pushy ones might be Grin.

MirandaWest · 08/07/2018 21:25

Am watching the Federer Nadal programme. Am trying to remember which year I went to Wimbledon - might have been 2008 although not sure.

DH says he’d like to go to Wimbledon with me one day and he’s not particularly interested in tennis. He is a good person Smile

magimedi · 08/07/2018 22:04

I am saving the Fed/Rafa programme for a vile day in November.

If I have enough will power!

Monfils/Anderson is high on my list for tomorrow. As is Delpo/Simon.

Thankfully the tides are such that I can have my swim in the mornings next week!
