I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

Edmund is being stretched (literally) a bit more than he's used to.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2018 20:00

I'm glad there's no tennis tomorrow. British Grand Prix is on.

Kyle gave away that last shot.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2018 20:04

Appropriate ending for that match.

Edmund put up a good fight for a while.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 20:05

I have so much to do tomorrow.

But I might just hide under my duvet. Grin

Bagel true.Grin

Years ago, I went on holiday with my mum, sister and bil.

Mum, sister and I went into a bar - the very witty bloke on the door asked

'Where's the other four?' (as in 7 dwarves....)

It was quite funny. But my mother gave him the evils . We got free drinks...

I used to get the security bloke at the student union bar at university singing 'Hi ho , hi ho' when I walked in all the time.

I could write a book about short jokes Grin.

Just catching up on the thread hiding in the bedroom while the in-laws clear up! Sausages may have been slightly singed but that's the price you pay for cooking during Wimbledon! Enjoyed reading all the updates. Shame for Kyle but to be expected I guess. Good effort.

Can't wait for Manic Monday!

whatnextfred · 07/07/2018 20:31

Best day of my life ladies! Gutted Edmund couldn't at least take it to five but such an amazing day. Boris Becker sat two seats in front of me for Djokovic game Grin

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 20:31

where's the other four? Grin cheeky sod though - glad you got free drinks for that Raahh!

I'm quite diminutive myself Grin 5' 1/2"!!

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 20:32

Sounds fab what!! I love Boris!

Raahh · 07/07/2018 20:37

what that sounds amazing. Grin.

I do like Boris.

MirandaWest · 07/07/2018 20:45

That sounds a great day whatnextfred

Raahh · 07/07/2018 20:58

This is the time they went in last night due to bad light. Wonder if this match will finish?

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2018 21:02

Sounds marvellous, what!

Raahh · 07/07/2018 21:06

And thank goodness Kyrgios is out-and for once, the commentary team are , rightly, waxing lyrical about the victor, as they should. Kei totally out classed him.

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 21:22

I like Kyrgios but Nishi deserved to win that, no doubt about it. Expected it to be closer than that.

Nishikori-Gulbis next round! Two more contrasting players I can't imagine.

JaneJeffer · 07/07/2018 22:05

Gah I had to go out and I missed everything Sad going back to have a read of the thread now

what glad you had a great time.

Drama our kitchen telly is on some weird box thing, not Sky, so I can't find the red buttons. I did manage to tune the sitting room telly though thanks to your help last year so not too bad except when there's Gaelic on because RTE doesn't work in kitchen Confused

So happy Nishikori beat Kgyrios.

And go on Ernests!! I like Sascha but I have a long-standing love for Ernests and his shenanigans.

Not sure if people already know, but there's a programme on BBC2 at 6.20pm today about the Rafa-Fed 2008 final. Looks good.

magimedi · 08/07/2018 07:41

Flowers *Private. I was wondering how I was going to manage today, with no tennis!

That Kgyrios match was odd. It was as if he wanted to lose.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 07:51

Oh that's good Private. I've barely slept all night. Might go for a siesta later.

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2018 10:44

Morning!

Ahh, the 2008 match. One of the best- with obviously the best winner Wink.

I am not sleeping well, the heat doesn't help. I wish I could switch my brain off.

I get really annoyed by Kyrgios and his 'tanking' because it makes it seem like his opponent didn't win, just that Nick lost- and from what I saw/heard yesterday that was very much not the case. It was unusual (in a Kyrgios match) to hear John Lloyd absolutely blown away by his opponent. Kei has clearly worked hard on his game (grass is not his surface ), and they were astounded by how good he was yesterday.

Did anyone read what Marion Bartoli said on 5 live about Nick? She called him pathetic and basically said he had a really poor work ethic. She likened him to Monfils, and how he he has thrown away a lot of his talent in favour of being 'the entertainer'.

Them McEnroe weighted in and said 'Well said'. NIck was unimpressed by Bartoli's assessment of him- but she was saying what a lot of people think.

Which is a turn up- John is usually Nick's biggest cheer leader.

PrivateParkin · 08/07/2018 12:04

Yes I heard Bartoli say that about kygrios - I wondered if she was trying a bit of reverse psychology tbh - in the hope that they might try and prove her wrong. Nick's response was "no-one cards what you think" - but why address it if he doesn't care?

Btw, Kyrgios keeps auto-correcting to "muffins" Grin I do like Nick but I'm not about to start calling him that!!

BagelGoesWalking · 08/07/2018 12:48

Thanks Private for the reminder.

I always remember the Federer Roddick 2009 final. Amazing match. I would have liked Roddick to win as it was so obviously his best and only chance of winning Wimbledon .

Raahh · 08/07/2018 12:52

muffinsGrin

auto correct is a funny thing, isn't it?
Maybe people are losing patience with Nick. Lots of big names have supported him, hes thrown it back in their faces.

I have just traipsed across town to endure the hell of Primark on a Sunday, because the stuff dd1 bought last week( and wouldn't try on) obviously didn't fit. Hmm.Just as I suspected.

And there was no way I was going back yesterday! Grin
