I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

I wonder if Sascha would understand this magpie?

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2018 22:28

jane that is funny! Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 22:30

Magpies are so clever. There was one who used to taunt our dearly departed terrier from a tree by copying her when she barked up at him!

Raahh · 08/07/2018 22:39

Jane I am very glad we haven't got one doing that to our dog- he's having enough trouble with the Goady squirrel family !Grin.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 22:43

Grin the dog we have now growls up at every single passing bird while running along and then comes back all pleased with himself as if they flew away because of him. He terrorises them on the bird feeder too. It was very funny when the swallows arrived. He was raging!

Jane Grin
I love this thread!

The Fed-Rafa programme was great. It's mad isn't it - 2008 is basically sporting history but it could happen again this year! Bonkers really.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2018 22:52

Sssh don't jinx it!

I put Kyrgios and Monfils in roughly the same basket - clowns and will only watch them if they're playing one of my faves.

I didn't see the Bear Grylls programme. Maybe I should have made the effort ......

The Fed episode of Bear Grylls show is next Sunday, 15 July on Discovery at 7pm. God knows what possessed him to do it!

Fizzywinegum · 09/07/2018 07:33

The Rafa/rog documentary sounds fab - hope it’s still on iPlayer for when I get home. Still remember the excitement (and nerves) of watching the match - can’t believe it’s 10 years ago.

Hoping to see some of Rafa’s match later - I think my only option is a bar Smile. DS1 has managed to find Tour de France on our tv but no tennis (unless he’s not telling me)

There’s a Rafa museum here in Mallorca! Not sure if I could persuade rest of family to visit.

magimedi · 09/07/2018 07:42

Can't believe that Rafa's match won't be on Spanish TV!

Hope you are having a great holiday, Fizzy.

Fizzywinegum · 09/07/2018 08:05

Thanks magi I’m sure it will be on somewhere Smile

Raahh · 09/07/2018 08:32

Fizzy you need to go the museumGrin. Surely they will be showing
the match onscreen somewhere Grin

Haven't been to Mallorca since I was 11- it was my first ever holiday abroad .I remember we went to the Caves of Drach. Grin

kazzaD66 · 09/07/2018 11:14

Snap Raahh I'd forgotten all about the Caves of Drach! I must have been in my early teens when we went there so just a couple of years ago really Confused We flew by Laker Skytrain, good old Freddie Laker Grin

Off to Sicily tomorrow, so not sure how much more of Wimbledon I'll get to see Hmm

BagelGoesWalking · 09/07/2018 11:15

The programme last night was fantastic. Loved Federer's trainer (from 1996!) talking about being an artist and a fighter. Great to see Borg/McEnroe and Evert/Navratilova segments too, we are still talking about them. It was interesting to see that Federer was a bit of a stroppy teenager as well - I didn't know that!

I've only been to Mallorca once, 2 yrs ago, in Soller, which was lovely. I'd like to go back when less hot and hire a car to look around more.

MirandaWest · 09/07/2018 11:23

We’re off to Mallorca in a few weeks time. Went last summer and enjoyed it so we’re back there again. I want to visit some caves this time.

MirandaWest · 09/07/2018 11:24

I also had no idea about Federer being a stroppy teenager - wouldn’t have guessed that

JaneJeffer · 09/07/2018 11:51

You have to go to the museum Fizzy. Don't take no for an answer!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 09/07/2018 12:15

If I do go to the museum I’ll defintely report back! At the minute it’s too hot to do much apart from lounge around the pool.

I do seem to remember reading something about Federer being a stroppy teenager - I think he used to break his racquets - it’s hard to believe that now.

Raahh · 09/07/2018 12:18

It's no real secret that Roger was well known for poor behaviour and a poor attitude (who does he sound like?) when he was younger - it's not brought up much generally in interviews - so I'm glad the documentary was balanced and showed it.

There's a good article about it ,from years back- that I think is online somewhere. It's a New York Times one. 'Cool image forged in a hot head' is the title.

What stopped Roger letting his hothead dictate his tennis (which is what Safin often did, much as I loved him), was the self awareness that something had to change.

A certain Aussie thinks himself above that life lesson. Until he learns it, I can't see him winning a major title.

JaneJeffer · 09/07/2018 12:26

Ructions!

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/07/2018 12:27

ooh, controversy in the Cibulkova match.

I'm trying to pack in as much as I can watch before 1.30- m out then until goodness knows whenSad

Raahh · 09/07/2018 12:29

I flicked over and missed the actual point being played.

Cibulkova is not backing down, is she?

PrivateParkin · 09/07/2018 12:30

Ooh a bit of aggro!! She's wrong though - they have to replay the point.

Raahh · 09/07/2018 12:33

And she won the set in the end.

Which I'm glad about. Hsieh is nice, but I'm still sad about Halep .
