Binged this fairly recently, amazing.

argumentativefeminist · 02/07/2018 22:40

Does anyone actually enjoy In The Loop?

OP posts:
falaffels · 02/07/2018 23:12

In The Loop might not be vintage TTOI, but it did give us the phrase 'room meat'. I'll forgive it for that.

EsmesBees · 03/07/2018 06:31

I use 'room meat' all the time at work.

Lottapianos · 03/07/2018 06:39

I love In The Loop. Malcolm's line 'do you think you're in a fucking Jane fucking Austen novel?' is one of my favourite lines ever. Pure poetry Grin

Theres some brilliant lines - 'climb the mountain of conflict', 'difficult difficult lemon difficult', and the American senator calling Tom Hollander a 'wanker' which sounds a lot funnier than it reads

alldaysleeper · 03/07/2018 06:56

Used all the time at work "of course you have a choice, you can decide exactly how you say yes"

argumentativefeminist · 03/07/2018 08:09

Might give In The Loop a second chance today 😂

'of course you have a choice, you can decide exactly how you say yes'

I have such fantasies of unleashing my inner Malcolm Tucker at work. Life would be so much more fun

MrsSteptoe · 03/07/2018 18:09

"Julius Nicholson. What are you doing out of your petri dish?"

I could do this all day.

user1466690252 · 03/07/2018 18:14

I am obsessed, watch it over and over. STILL makes me laugh.

FortheloveofCod · 03/07/2018 20:59

Miss this show so much. Would be great to see a new series, but think it's unlikely now.

Love the line 'I'm bored of this, I'm going for a twix'

Everytime I pass a playground I always imagine Peter sat a slide holding up his phone to get a signal.

Lottapianos · 03/07/2018 21:06

'Would be great to see a new series, but think it's unlikely now.'

I was wondering the other day if the writing team are relieved they packed it in when they did. Nothing they could write could possibly be weirder than the actual reality of the past couple of years!

argumentativefeminist · 03/07/2018 21:48

David Davis' SAS skills vs. Malcolm's Caledonian Mafia is something I'd love to see.

alldaysleeper · 04/07/2018 05:39

Of course the one we all want to use several times a day "From bean to cup, you fuck up"

DarlingNikita · 04/07/2018 09:42

Armando Iannucci said something very much along these lines in an interview when asked if he wished he was still writing it/would do a new one. 'You couldn't make it up', basically.

bychoiceornot · 06/07/2018 20:16

One of my all time favourites! I adore this show. Malcolm Tucker is, of course, one of the greatest characters in British TV history (a bold claim, but I stand by it!), but the show gives so many fab characters. I'm especially fond of hapless Glenn, especially those moments when he really tries to stand up for himself.

The swearing is such a joy. I love that they have the swearing consultant, the man definitely does his job! I 'pride' myself on my sailor mouth at times, and think I can sometimes be quite creative with my swears, but I am nothing compared to this lot!

So so many favourite moments, but the one I'm loving at present (quite possibly because I use it to tease my Star Wars-loving OH) is Malcolm's brilliant attempt to describe Star Wars to Ollie.

argumentativefeminist · 06/07/2018 20:27

Glen cracks me up 😂 "I AM A MAN!!"

I do love the inventive swearing. As this thread has shown there's many phrases and sayings for everyday life! 😂

'Fire up the mid-range saloons!'

Lottapianos · 07/07/2018 11:07

I was wondering if Theresa made them play games involving wearing sticky labels on foreheads and 'yes and ho!' as a warm up yesterday Grin

argumentativefeminist · 07/07/2018 11:33

I would actually pay to see that 😂😂

OP posts:
bychoiceornot · 07/07/2018 12:46

I can quite imagine that!

I've just ordered myself the box set, as I've heard a few people talk about the commentaries, sad I know but I'm excited now to rewatch, with extra snippits!

"YES! I've never lost a game of 'Standy-Sitty' in my fucking life!"

groundcontroltomontydon · 07/07/2018 23:33

'Please don't get up, I'm not Viagra.'
FabulousGrin

bychoiceornot · 08/07/2018 19:26

Do it!! I genuinely can't watch the last two episodes though because I'm too emotionally invested in Malcolm

I am the same! Still brilliant episodes of course, but I always get a sad feeling when I know his downfall is imminent. Beautifully played though.

I'm in a hotel this evening with my OH and he's giving me the oddest look as I am practically crying with laughter at the tiny kettle! Am going to have to make him watch the whole show now, just to convince him that I am not some nutter (!!) who just bursts out laughing at random undersized pieces of kitchenware.

argumentativefeminist · 08/07/2018 19:29

Not a nutter, bychoice, a Tommist 😂 the truly tiny kettle does crack me up. That whole episode is brilliant. Nicolas rapid breakdown in sanity is just so relatable 😂

OP posts:
bychoiceornot · 08/07/2018 19:32

Ah yes of course, how silly of me! I wouldn't want to upset Terri and her sister with my remark!

I know a lot of people seemed to dislike Nicola, but I thought she was a pretty good character (maybe not likable as such, but entertaining, and dear Lord, very relatable in the descent into near-breakdown territory).
