Would have thought she would be on at least £25K. She may be someone who makes very poor financial choices though and is always short of money (without a hefty and growing fine to pay off).

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 26/01/2019 23:10

Feel like I was watching a film not casualty!

Hopefully that'll be the end of these far fetched scenes with Ian getting too movie like

And as for Louise having that guy at her home for 1 she can barely afford to feed herself apparently never mind the unprofessionalism of it all - that consultant was awful but still....

Optimist1 · 27/01/2019 07:18

Three cheers for the scriptwriter who injected a touch of the old Casualty into last night's episode! I told ex-druggie (sadly I often give advice to characters on TV) that he shouldn't leave that iron on the floor like that, and before you know it ...

SoupDragon · 27/01/2019 09:59

I liked the classic "spot the disaster" at the start with the dodgy reel of barbed wire! Nice twist to it though with the unlikely gun scenario :)

SaturdayNext · 27/01/2019 10:09

I must admit to being quite pleased that the druggie snuffed it, given how tedious that storyline has been. So I'm seriously pissed off that they're perpetuating it with whatever Ian has done to the drug pusher. Why on earth was he lurking around anyway?

RedForShort · 27/01/2019 10:13

Yes, love the spot the disaster theme (#bringbackthechainsaw).

I definitely got it yesterday we saw the bardedwire reel I said 'oh no'. Felt very retro.

SoupDragon · 27/01/2019 11:59

I was a little surprised that the pregnant wife wasn't involved.

MissEliza · 27/01/2019 12:26

Yes I like a bit of 'spot the disaster' although we were all convinced the pregnant wife was going to come a cropper so disappointingly not predictable!

SoupDragon · 27/01/2019 15:14

She didn't even go into labour!

Isitmybathtimeyet · 27/01/2019 15:19

Nothing spices up a siege at gunpoint like some waters breaking.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 27/01/2019 15:20

By the way, are we meant to know the jackass cardio guy from Holby?

SoupDragon · 27/01/2019 15:24

I've never seen the jackass cardio man in Holby, no. They never mention the consultants that must exist for when Jac etc are off shift though.

Chocolateandabook2019 · 27/01/2019 20:27

Slightly away from the storyline, but I’m glad Duffy had an affair/one night stand/whatever it was.

Since they got married, her and Charlie became boring. It was much better before when there was a ‘frisson’ of attraction between them ...

Erm, as you were...😄

Chocolateandabook2019 · 27/01/2019 20:28

I feel for Duffy with the possible Alzheimer’s diagnosis though.

Louise is likely to be on £30k as a Band 6 nurse. I actually really liked her in tonight’s episode.

I’m gutted they’ve made Ian accidentally kill someone because they need to just let his character recover and recuperate from all the crap he’s gone through and now they’ve just piled shit on him again.

I liked the gunman storyline and the fact he was actually shooting at people - normally you just see people waving the guns around and making threats so it’s a good change to see some actual action!

The CT Surgeon was a complete knob. I loved Louise’s comment to it regarding Jac being skilled enough to do high-risk procedures and imply that he wasn’t.

Overall I really enjoyed the episode.

sushisuperstar · 28/01/2019 20:57

Well Base won't be annoying me anymore it would seem!!

I think it was so Iain could have two dead bodies to look at, laid out in perfect formation on ground in front of him. Quite considerate of him really.

Do you think Emergency response operator heard the fight?

QueenofmyPrinces · 29/01/2019 15:49

I know the operator said, “stay on the line” but surely they still wouldn’t on the line 30 minutes since Iain first called them?

Surely that would be hogging an operator that could otherwise be used to answer other 999 calls?

I think the drug dealer stayed hiding because he wanted to know the outcome of the CPR as I’m guessing he was desperate to see Base gain consciousness so he wouldn’t have a murder on his hands.

I think when he realised Base couldn’t be saved he decided to make a run for it to avoid potentially being found in the house by the police/paramedics and being arrested.

purpleme12 · 29/01/2019 15:56

I think they'd stay on the line for a cardiac arrest like that

QueenofmyPrinces · 29/01/2019 17:54

Why though? Is it just to let them know when the ambulance is about to arrive?

I understand that for non-medical people the operator would be offering guidance/support with the CPR but Iain said he was a paramedic so they’d know he didn’t need their instruction.

I reckon though that Iain will try and make out that he found the dealer and Base both dead when he came into the house but then the 999 Operator will come forward and say they heard the argument...

InternetRandomer · 29/01/2019 20:47

Surely it wouldn’t be credible (ha) that Iain has made the 999 call about Base but forgot to mention the other dead body lying two feet away even if the 999 operator wasn’t still on the line.
