They put one on early sunday evening and I saw it for the first time with my dd (4yrs) and it took some explaining. Just glad I was with her when she saw it and could explain it to her.

Heathcliffscathy · 21/05/2007 21:41

au pairs coming across fantastically. most of the parents not at all.

children better off with aupair in most cases.

moodlumthehoodlum · 21/05/2007 21:41

That poor little boy who's just fallen over..

God its heartbreaking. I wonder if the parents in the programme are watching this and will change their mind about what they do?

I thought au pairs weren't supposed to have sole charge of the kids.

And if she's worried abuot the language problems, then why the fuck did she get an au pair in.

I am watching it and it is bringing back BAD memories. Went through 5 in 3 years when dd was much younger.
1st brought boyf into house - lasted 3 days (Czech)
2nd was always out partying - lasted 3 weeks (Czech)
3rd was always out partying and went through 7 boyfs in 7 months - lasted 7 months (Polish)
4th was a JOY - great , loved my dd. I am still in touch with her . Has own children now in Bratislava. Lasted full period of 1 year
5th was a sulky cow , always depressed - lasted 3 months (Turkish)

1 out of 5 is not a good ratio really. Although I know there are some good au pairs but usually have different agenda than childcare.

Heathcliffscathy · 21/05/2007 21:42

apart from mother of turkish (lovely aupair) who seems really ok. as does the aupair (misjudged how far kids can walk.....frankly i used to do this til i realised that ds has bigtime limits).

elasticbandstand · 21/05/2007 21:42

showing au pair n bad light.

lisad123 · 21/05/2007 21:43

its madness! strangers are being left with these children, no instruction, routine. I wouldnt leave my children with someone i had known a short time.

Geez, Clara, I have so much sympathy for you.

NOT.

WTF did you expect? Something for nothing, same as all the rest of these sorry gits.

Durdle · 21/05/2007 21:44

I think that Clara woman has some issues to deal with....

elkiedee · 21/05/2007 21:44

I've set the TV Drive to record it, as I've given up attempting to watch anything on live broadcast right now, I like to know I can stop start things when my newborn baby starts to screech (or his dad flips, or I flip). Or I get distracted by mumsnet at the crucial moment, or the phone rings or a family member/friend/midwife turns up...

expatinscotland · 21/05/2007 21:44

This Andrew guy is beyond gross.

Yuk. Gemma's got a face that could stop a clock, poor thing.

lisad123 · 21/05/2007 21:45

that rich woma can afford to buy a lovely house in london but pays cheap labour, exspects her to walk dog and do cleaning!

the au-pairs seem very nice girls but they are not nannies. The parents are really to blame.

expatinscotland · 21/05/2007 21:45

Yeah, I saw that, lisa. She struck me as vile.

southeastastra · 21/05/2007 21:46

yes gemma is the one i recognise. it's driving me mad!

Chica · 21/05/2007 21:46

Must say can't be easy for au pairs either. Many have no idea what it really invloves until they get here. Difficult to leave home and look after someone elses (non-angelic) children!

Also mums are often overbearing and demanding. Earn very little so little motivation.

lisad123 · 21/05/2007 21:47

I was lucky, I used to nanny for 3 lovely girls, wonderful family. Must be so sad for the au pairs. God i hate that rich woman, if she's that bloodly fussed, do it yourself!! Lazy cow.
