Those brides looked very young.

Maybe it was a way for the other Commander to keep Nick in Gilead?

Perhaps he will say they can't move Nick now because he's a newly-wed.

Who decides on nick marrying? Is it his own choice or was that the “promotion” Waterford wanted for him?

I think you're right Hygge that commander clearly knows that Fred is up to all sorts, hence why he commented something about having trustworthy staff.

I reckon they are girls who have now started their periods - potentially fertile?
