mocha - I didn't vote for him, but I found him better than the semi finals for some reason

Namechangeforhair · 04/06/2018 10:05

I laughed at Robert White more than LVG but am pleased he won.

Creambun2 · 04/06/2018 10:06

The voting percentages for the semi and final are interesting:

CadyHeron · 04/06/2018 10:07

Completely disagree with the minority of posters saying LVG won by a "sympathy" vote.
We voted for him here because we found him genuinely funny.
Horribly patronising, dismissive thing to say sympathy vote, as it wasn't at all. That honestly never even came into it at all.

Frosty66612 · 04/06/2018 10:11

Can’t believe B Positive choir did the worst last night. They were my favourites

senua · 04/06/2018 10:15

I didn't watch last night (hence late to the party) but heard the result this morning. Was discussing it with DH and said that there must be a zeitgeist or something because I heard another comedian with CP in sitcom on Radio 4. Then I looked him up. Same guy! And he won a BBC new comedy award back in 2014.
I thought BGT was for overlooked or undiscovered acts.Confused

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 10:18

I don't think BGt is just for undiscovered acts most of the acts have been kicking about working entertaining people for a while

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 10:20

Lee Ridley was a journalist before he took to comedy full time.

senua · 04/06/2018 10:23

There is a difference between 'entertaining for a while' and writing and starring in your own show on national radio. You might as well enter Dec (sans Ant) as a 'new' act.

Not that I'm knocking LVG at all, he was v funny when I heard him on the radio. I'm questioning BGT.

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 10:37

Iyes I know you are questioning BGt but I don't think they ever suggested undiscovered talent was all that could enter. If you google the Giang brothers they have been touring their act for years.

VanillaSugar · 04/06/2018 10:42

I used to watch Marty Thingy on the comedy circuit 30 years ago. He performed on Saturday Night Live plus at the Comedy Store. He's been a professional longer than some BGT voters have been alive.

Creambun2 · 04/06/2018 10:42

whats annoying is people who have done well in other countries version of bgt then just touring other countries programmes.

Pinkyponkcustard · 04/06/2018 10:53

I believe lvg was “asked” to audition a while ago, he wasn’t some random dude who turned up. Think that is the same in a lot of these talent shows though. He is still bloody funny regardless.

senua · 04/06/2018 10:58

I believe lvg was “asked” to audition

What! You mean it's a set-up? I'm shocked.
Grin

Creambun2 · 04/06/2018 11:02

BGT has loads of researchers trawling you tube etc and asking people to auditions - the chances of a say a road sweeper randomly walking in and being a top comedian or singer is low, hence ever more surprising when in happens.

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 11:06

The Magicjan whos trick revolved around his wife and dd had to delete tweets because had slagged off BGT apparently he hatedit yet there he was

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 11:07

AND we had not diversity who would have been put together to audition

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 11:09

Urm Magican I have no idea who magic Jan is Grin

raisedbyguineapigs · 04/06/2018 11:48

Just remembering the line Robert sang about 'Your son will come out tomorrow' about DW, I was pondering at the time whether DW is so enthusiastic about being not at all closeted is to deflect from some of the rumours hinted at on the other thread?

raisedbyguineapigs · 04/06/2018 11:49

Yes most of the acts on these talent shows have been doing thre rounds for years and have been asked to audition. There was a comedian last year who was a regular on Radio 4! My DH listens to a lot of comedy and he's heard of Robert too.

Chipstick10 · 04/06/2018 13:39

I didn’t find LVG funny at all. Confused

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 13:57

The wiggle wind man and Gruffoyd (spelling) tied in the final would they have added percentages of their semi finals to decide who went to top 3 ?

Creambun2 · 04/06/2018 14:13

Mickey Kerr was awful in the final. The audience were silent in the song and the main laugh was after his spot had finished and Judy Murray stood up. He was a little better in semi but he seems quite limited really.

MrsJayy · 04/06/2018 14:28

His final act came over as aggresive it was uncomfy I was glad of Judy Murray she relieved the tensionGrin

GoldenGumballs · 04/06/2018 14:29

Congratulations LVG worthy winner. Agree with nearlife when challenging the vile comments of using the disabled card. Of course people with disabilities can have great talent. Funny comedian= 1st , person with disabilities = last. LVG is looking forward to performing for the Queen he says he’s liked her since she sang ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Grin
