I’ve just heard that this will start in the US at the end of this month but Channel 4 haven’t said when they’ll start showing it yet.

Catrina, we don't live in a world of sunshine and unicorns. We shouldn't 'cover our faces' against the 'unpleasantries' of the way humans can treat other humans. Shows like Handmaid shock us to wake us up. You think something like Gilead can't happen? You are dead wrong.

I live in the US. To 'cover my face' to hide from the things that are going on here right now would be foolish and dangerous. Handmaid reminds me that I need to keep my eyes wide open and continue to resist the encroaching tide of policies and legislation that, whilst not making an actual handmaid of anyone, certainly do intend to restrict women's options and choices, especially when it comes to her body autonomy.

If it's 'affected you like no other' then perhaps that's because deep down you realize how close to the reality of human nature it is.

I have to say S2E1, was a hard watch. The hanging and the gas burner scenes were awfully horrific to watch. The thing that scare me most, in both series, in how I sometimes don't think as a society we're that many steps away from Gilead really.

I think that was someone from series 1 - when one of the handmaids was executed and the other had FGM for being lesbians.

The one who had her clitoris removed as she was having an affair with a Martha. The Martha was hanged.

She was originally offglen

Her wife and son managed to escape to Canada but she didn't have a Canadian passport so was stopped st the border

That scene of the Martha being executed in series 1 still haunts me sometimes.
