Shock ffs. Another thread I leave because of the pedants.

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 18/02/2018 22:36

How are people being pedants? Confused

BelfastBloke · 18/02/2018 22:36

Guillermo's English inspiration is Mary Shelley!

calzone · 18/02/2018 22:38

Frances is a right ole rebel!!!!

iceycage · 18/02/2018 22:38

Yikes Confused that took a turn.

Anyway fingers crossed for 3 Billboards to win!

Ihatebuildabear · 18/02/2018 22:39

Shape of water looks shite.

iceycage · 18/02/2018 22:39

Yay!

Oh I'm excited for shape of water. Seems very weird but I'm intrigued

calzone · 18/02/2018 22:39

I might go and see 3 billboards tomorrow evening.

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/02/2018 22:40

Wonderful speech by Guillermo del Toro.

Dunkirk should have got best film and/or director.

JackieReacher · 18/02/2018 22:40

Billboards deserves all of it.
But ye gods, William is wooden and dull.

Ihatebuildabear · 18/02/2018 22:41

Keen to see 3 billboards.

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/02/2018 22:41

The Shape of Water was beautiful and beautifully acted.

mercurymaze · 18/02/2018 22:41

I love how he mentioned Stan laurel

Still pleased three billboards won but shape of water is exceptional

thetoaster · 18/02/2018 22:42

Lass I've not seen all the films nominated to have an opinion on what should've won but Dunkirk was fabulous. I've been meaning to see three billboards for a while now I hope it's still on in some cinemas

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/02/2018 22:43

Neither Lady Bird or I, Tonya are out here yet

Lady Bird opened this week. I saw it this afternoon. I, Tonya opens next weekend.

BelfastBloke · 18/02/2018 22:43

Fun fact: British actors Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel were in the same music-hall show that travelled to the USA; but Chaplin never mentioned Laurel in his autobiography.

Ihatebuildabear · 18/02/2018 22:45

Just have no interest in shape of water looks pretentious and bizarre. Paddington 2 should have won something.

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/02/2018 22:45

I've been meaning to see three billboards for a while now I hope it's still on in some cinemas

I haven't seen it as I found the premise upsetting- husband has and said it was very good but Dunkirk is exceptional.

GreenSeededGrape · 18/02/2018 22:46

Dunkirk does not deserve any awards.

Slartybartfast · 18/02/2018 22:46

I voted for the rising star, Daniel, loved his speech, love francis

MyBrilliantDisguise · 18/02/2018 22:48

This is boring boring shite. Someone needs to tell them it's only films. They aren't saving lives. None of them deserve the money they get. Some humility and realism would be nice.

Where the hell would we be without art and film and books and music? What kind of world do you want to live in?

Ihatebuildabear · 18/02/2018 22:50

Where did i say I didn't want set and film and books and music? I love reading and music and films. I said they need to realise they aren't saving lives and get some humility. And that the baftas is boring shite. Not the films themselves.

Ihatebuildabear · 18/02/2018 22:51

Art not set. But how do you get from my post that I don't want the arts? I never remotely said that?

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/02/2018 22:52

And that the baftas is boring shite

Then switch it off.

iceycage · 18/02/2018 22:53

I'd say most have been pretty humble Confused why watch when you clearly think it's all a load of Hollywood nonsense
