I've been watching the Aussie version tonight, have watched eps 1&2. If you love tension and random odd people give it a watch!

Cambionome · 27/02/2018 06:59

Just started on Aussie version series 3.

Wow - talking of random odd people... !

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2018 09:07

The people on the Aussie one are slightly unhinged i think - i blame all that sun!
.

Heratnumber7 · 27/02/2018 09:18

I wonder how the TV company gets away with this programme. Arranged marriages are illegal, but what are these marriages, if not arranged by a third party?

ceecee32 · 27/02/2018 09:19

@heratnumber7 - forced marriages are illegal. Not the same thing as arranged

Namethecat · 27/02/2018 09:25

Didn't it say on the first show he was a property millionaire, to me that means in theory yes he is, but it is tied up in bricks and mortar and therefore may not actually have that way in the bank in cash.

thecatsthecats · 27/02/2018 12:51

I can't believe anyone invested in Clark and Melissa last time. They were clearly just superficially buzzing about being a 'hot' couple, and it inevitably all fell down when they got home.

I see the same thing with Steph and Ben. Her comment about not liking his clothes but liking to show off her husband was telling - she won't be so forgiving of differences in the cold light of day, I think!

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2018 13:45

It all tends to fall apart once they are home and living together - they must be very immature to think this wouldnt happen - or not watched the previous series of this show! Most people these days live together before getting wed - i was old fashioned and got married first after a few years - then found out how hard it was living with someone - ' try before you buy' is a better option i guess.
i know thats not the premise of the show and wouldnt be on at all if they did this, but goes to show that just marrying someone to go on a show isnt a good idea either really. maybe steph will just try to change him a lot? he seems to know his own mind about things , so that might be hard for her to do.

I8toys · 27/02/2018 14:14

Ben reminds me of Stevie Richie. His cheeky chappy persona would grate after about 3 minutes and the way he walks.

Harriet and Richard. Harriet seems really lovely but serious. Richard's collection of Lego and where he lives hints to me that he's a bit of manchild. She will mother him.

DryIce · 27/02/2018 15:19

Catching up on episode 2 - love Harriet's parents! They are so sweet. Her hen night looks a lot like a work Christmas party.

Richard looks fun, hope he lightens her up rather than needing a mum girlfriend.

donkey86 · 27/02/2018 19:54

Interesting interview with Clark from last series here: www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/a18658904/married-at-first-sight-clark-melissa-interview/

Sounds like it went even less well than it appeared. And Clark says he wasn't aware what he was applying for until quite a way in, which would explain how they get so many applicants.

Walkerbean16 · 28/02/2018 01:03

@i8toys

THANK YOU!!

I knew he reminded me of someone!!!

ShiverMeTimberz · 01/03/2018 21:05

Wow. This guy Richard is only 28? Why would you take such a drastic course of action at such a tender age? Seems utterly bizarre.

ShiverMeTimberz · 01/03/2018 21:08

Portugese custard tarts will be the highlight of that honeymoon. Tastiest things ever.

Cambionome · 01/03/2018 21:11

Harriet seems nice but she's got the most boring dress sense ever. Confused

candyloves · 01/03/2018 21:11

Richard said he wanted a down to earth, northern girl - Harriet is hardly that is she? She seems nice, but her friends were uber posh- a sign that maybe she's not the down to earth girl he wants?

hubbibubbub · 01/03/2018 21:16

Harriet is quite dour and more like a much older woman than 32yr. I wonder if she is disappointed Richard ain't in finance / law / medicine.

I think Richard would suit a light hearted giggly woman who maybe has quirky interests/ hobbies

ShiverMeTimberz · 01/03/2018 21:16

Harriet seems much older than her years. She'd be better suited to a steady, accountant type who's ten years older than her.

Cherrypie32 · 01/03/2018 21:17

Harriet’s line of questioning is quite off putting and as if she’s desperately looking for common ground where maybe it’s not entirely necessary.

Cambionome · 01/03/2018 21:19

She seems ultra ultra cautious which is maybe not the best personality for this sort of thing.

ShiverMeTimberz · 01/03/2018 21:20

Easy access to pork pies would be the best thing about being married to that guy.

ShiverMeTimberz · 01/03/2018 21:22

She does seem oddly cautious and tightly wound Cambionome. Which is not what you'd expect from someone who'd signed up for this kind of thing

candyloves · 01/03/2018 21:22

I feel sorry for both of them in a way, but I agree Richard would probably suit a more carefree, light hearted girl who is maybe a bit creative/arty

Ben and Steph seem far better suited but there;s something odd about both of them. Steph seems infatuated with him.

Snoopyokay · 01/03/2018 21:29

Harriet seems way older than 32! She seems very serious too!

SwedishEdith · 01/03/2018 21:37

I thought he was being funny with the train game in a dry way and she didn't pick up on that. But, of course, she might already know this is a mistake.

I find Steph really annoying. So, affected. He's actually slightly less unbearable in what he says but I can't stand the way he says it. Not his accent but his delivery. It's bugging me who he reminds me of.
