Also, I went through a very similar thing as Steph did when I first met my DH's family. I got one with them like a house on fire and my DH went VERY cold on me for a while afterwards. He had also met me not long after a long term relationship had gone tits up. It was very upsetting at the time and I do feel for her.
Having said that I think she is WAY too good for him. I still can't get past those hideous wedding shoes

Oh darkside I can se the appeal of a dog butI don't want one. Cats are an entirety different matter. Apart from food, they don't need me. A dog would want me.

Grockle I have cats and as much as I love dogs I won't have one as they are a tie. However, Richard seems to have made a place in his life for that lovely dog and if I was in her position I would be delighted. She seemed almost repulsed by it. I don't think this will end well

He has been so patient with her over that given that he really loves his dog .

It's a bit like other people's children to me dark. I love my own deeply but I'm not naturally maternal so other people's children just don't get me feeling it i can fake it for play dates but I wouldn't adopt them and love them like my own.
Dogs are too demanding for me but I can make a fuss of them when I visit.

Richard's dog Merlin is gorgeous ! I have cats but love all animals really.

We didn't see Harriet and ben in their room on their wedding night did we? I might have missed it. But we definitely saw Ben and Stephanie. Just shows the different characters. Ben and Harriet are quite private, weirdly, given that they opted for this. I'm not a f'ling myself at someone in public' person but in private it's a different story, Harriet might be the same!! But there were moments when Harriet bought the light box and she seemed to be trying. I think we are being played by CH4's editing. Look how its keeping us hooked on here!!

I don't get the whole being a cat or a dog person. Surely if you like animals then you like animals. And only a person with a cold cold heart wouldn't like that Spaniel.

I would never be unkind to animals, liked them even, but wasn't a dog person as in 'dog in my house person' until my 40s. I was actually a bit fearful.

Harriet says she is a "cat person" but she doesn't have one does she? I think she comes across as so cold its doubtful she likes any animals. Merlin's sad little face behind those bars made me feel very sad

What kind iof "scientific research" pears someone who doesn't like animals with someone who has a dog??

If they paired me with someone who expected my dog to go I'd immediately say the marriage was over. There are enough animal likers in the world..

Caught up with this last night. Agree on the heavily edited set pieces we get to see, but I can't see either couple working out long-term sadly.

He's the most appealing being on the whole show. I'd be happy to be scientifically paired up with him, on a strictly platonic basis.

This series isn't grabbing me as much as the previous ones, and I was really looking forward to it! I think it's because it seems obvious that it's not going to work out for either couple. In the previous series it did look more likely that the couples would stay together.

Ben reminds me a bit of Rylan.

I caught up last night. I think Harriet is being pathetic and not trying at all. Dick is being pretty patient with her. Ben is starting to shut down too. They all need to make an effort, talk, go on dates, see if they can find some fun/interests. And of course it's not going to be the same as a long courtship and proposal Steph!! It's not a magic ring.

I thought Steph was over the top about the ring thing. My DH used to hardly ever wear his ring as he found it uncomfortable, since cycling everywhere it fits better but I never found it a problem. I often forget to put mine back on after putting hand cream on. She is a tad intense.

My OH took his wedding ring off to wash his hands on a flight and left it in the aeroplane's loo. Over the tannoy came... 'A man's wedding ring with the date 24.07.94 has been found on the sink in the toilets, could the owner make themselves known to cabin crew.' It was 25.07.94 and we were on our way to honeymoon. It gave the plane a laugh and OH was a tad embarrassed.

24 years later he is still hopeless and takes it off to wash his hands.

DH never wears his ring. I couldn't care less. After 23 years the novelty has worn off a bit

But Jane she didn't know why, she jumped to conclusions and voiced them to camera. Bit much.

When we did see Ben wearing his ring it looked quite large on his hand. I suspect that he found it a bit uncomfortable especially if he was going to the gym after work. I doubt he realised that it was the big deal she turned it into.
