Ben is all about the cameras although I’m not sure how much the tv crew ask them to ham it up. Why was Steph cowering and covering her face if she sees worse on a Friday night?

Ben is weird and the other couple are even stranger.
maybe its the cameras or made to look this way - dont know, but its all v odd this season.

How come Steph got to meet his family, meet his parents, participate in (or at least watch) his hobby and we saw absolutely nothing of him getting involved in her life... Either it was really the Ben Show or Stephen was keeping him away from her life.

Several different things came to mind when I watched this last night.

Firstly. Why did Richard and Harriet seem to have a lovely bright modern appartment whilst Steph and Ben seemed to be in quite a drab pokey house? I would have thought they'd be given comparable accommodation.

I'm no psychologist but didn't Ben say that he'd only split up from his ex of 12 years only 10 months ago. That's no time to get over a relationship of that length especially as all the indictions seemed to be that she dumped him? Surely that's red flag city and screamed rebound to me. Would love to hear from his ex. I suspect he was hard work. Not remotely surprised he's now dithering. He's a self centred little boy who does things for effect but there's no substance to him.

I wonder if Steph is generally the one who gets dumped rather than being the dumpee. She seemed to have a naive view that if you're married you have to stay together. Almost like she'd found a man who was now shackled to her and couldn't leave. Screamed insecure.

Harriet and Richard. OMG! Lovely man but totally deluded. Now I'm a cat person but think even I could have fallen for Merlin. I was also screaming at the tv when she was whining on about how all they did was come home, eat dinner, watch tv and go to bed. 'It wasn't what she expected' . WELL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THEN!!! SAY SOMETHING! ORGANISE A DATE NIGHT. She's obviously an intelligent woman but seemed to expect him to do everything and was being a bit of a martyr about it all! He seemed quite happy with the status quo but she wasn't so say something to him FFS instead of whinging to your friend in Australia!!!! At least Steph made attempts to verbalised her dissatisfaction to Ben.

I can see why both pairs were matched because ben is very like Steph and Richard very much like Harriet but I think that's why they say 'opposites attract'.

It did say at the end that Harriet and Dick had been on some dates and things were looking up, I hope so. He seems like a real gent. The way he didn't want to focus on finding her attractive.

I'd find Ben very hard work.
Too 'manic' for me.

Yep I’d have at least shown enthusiasm for the game. He did bring wine and flowers too! I like him

I think Harriet is work orientated and probably would like to talk about her work in the evenings and do work at home but obviously can’t in front of the tv cameras . I wonder if she has anything other than work about her, she talks like she’s just about to go into a meeting and wears work clothes 24/7.

I don’t know why, but I get really invested in this show! Sort of feels like when I read young romance novels as a teen
Ben, no, not my type, but I rather like him. He & Steph have a lot in common, but what will kill it is he’s not over ex.
Boy, is Harriet uptight! I can see why she hasn’t had much luck! I love the dog -but I am a dog person, but if my prospective partner had a cat, I would enjoy that too. It would appear that she might thaw a tad next week.

If Harriet made it clear that she actually dislikes dogs (judging by her face and attitude last night I would say she does) why did they match her with a dog owner? The cynic in me thinks maybe they thought it would make good tv?

I am very surprised that the Registrar woman is so happy to go along with these weddings unless, of course, she loves the attention of being on tv. Surely she should think marriage is a commitment and marrying someone you have never met before is hardly a good idea

Ben isn’t over his ex. He should never have been picked to go on this. They had 2000 people or whatever and chose him. I don’t get it

She is insecure. She made a comment that she thought having a ring meant it was more secure but she realises it wasn’t.
