That is all

After finishing the sublime Weeds on Netflix I finally succumbed to trying PB.

Total crap. What are all you folk who love it thinking ? Dodgy sets, dodgy score, dodgy accents, dodgy acting.

Dodgy score??? Nick Cave, PJ, Harvey & Radiohead, not a dodgy one among them.

But what has the score to do with 1900's Birmingham ?

The score is for atmosphere, not storytelling!

Well, it jars Smile

I watched the first series and it was ok, bit different and had a certain stylish thing going on.

Then when it came to the start of the second series, I watched the first episode and had a sudden epiphany that it was the biggest load of old shite ever invented.

Loved PB but couldn't stand Weeds.

For storytelling music watch homes under the hammer - the worst appropriate music ever!

See now, I thought Taboo was dreadful. A storyline that dragged on. Sub-plots that went unanswered and unexplained. It jusy seemed like Tom Hardys self-indulgent ego boosting project. And he is the absolute king of over-acting.

Hr was fit in Taboo though Smile

The accents were so awful I didn't watch it beyond being in the room when DH did. I also really hate soap style acting.

But the accents! My ears!!

DH watched this over Christmas (binge watched the whole lot over 2 days Hmm )

I was in the room but not watching though i could hear it. I kept saying to him "Does it actually have a story"?
It was all You're a bastard then they were shagging over a desk.
Boring as all get out (but yes, nice horses)

Well, I’ve not measured him personally but my extensive research (google) suggests it is so.

According to t'internet Cillan and Tom are both 5'9".

Having watched a bit of the first episode twice I gave it another go when in bed with flu recently and binged series 1-3 in 2 days. I LOVE it. Kept trying to persuade DH to watch it but he wasn't keen. Couldn't find anything to watch this evening so I persuaded him and 2 dcs (over 18) to give the first episode a go. They're still watching and must be on episode 4 by now.

I tried PB when it first came out. Watched one episode and hated it so never watched another. Everyone else raves about it so I thought I might give it another go but having seen this thread I don't think I'll bother.
I also disagree with most of you re Cillian Murphy. I find his looks very odd and actually rather creepy.

I also watched one episode and parked it but strangely coincidental that I started watching it again last night.

I think Sam Neill is pretty good, and love the music score. I'm quite enjoying it actually.

Just finished Grace & Frankie season 4, love that one it's a bloody hoot. And I want that house...Envy

According to t'internet Cillan and Tom are both 5'9". Men always add at least 2 inches.

I find his looks very odd and actually rather creepy. Some of us like that. Ray Liotta, Aidan Quinn, Javier Bardem...

Mr Murphy is quite odd looking but still very, very watchable.

The accents are awful! Haha!

Why did he end up with Grace? That horse woman was much, much better and interesting. She'd have given as good as she got. I loved the scene where he poured her a gin.

The last series was awful but I did enjoy the others. Admittedly party due to Cillian.

How do you pronounce Cillian by the way?

I don't get the Tom Hardy love, especially in this.

I found Taboo pretty awful and couldn't watch it but I could possibly see why people liked Tom Hardy in it, in a moody rougue type way. Maybe if I'd watched more I'd have got the Tom Hardy love. Not in PB though.
