John is a God amongst men. That is all.

We've now chatted more than the entire last series of CBB. I wonder why???? Grin

I think it says a lot that everyone on this thread, and me too, thinks Johnny is the dullest housemate. He is the only one in the house that comes from the seemingly never-ending carousel of reality shows - Geordie Shore/TOWIE/Ex on the Beach etc. - and there have been more of them in the BB house over the past few years. So many people are bored and bewildered by this series of interchangeable young people who don't seem to have much to say and do little but get drunk and shag each other.

Stephen Bear's victory I would put down to the same factor as Jim Davidson winning, and the reason that the awful Dapper is second. There's a sizeable chunk of the public voting who like a lad. Maybe that will shift a bit if the number of old viewers being drawn back in by a more interesting mix of housemates shows itself in the voting.

It's been years since I wrote anything about Big Brother, and I used to be an addict.

I'm so disappointed with Shane/Courtney for saying that about women. I wish someone could remind them that being a woman isn't fancy dress.

I also want the rest to see Daniel's true colours.

Royalfuckup · 09/01/2018 17:02

If Shane/Courtney really does think that about vaginas/penis, I reckon he is open to being corrected.

And if he doesn’t really believe it but is just saying it to appease IW, then it just goes to show how feat of not being seen to be a “bully” works in a pressure cooker environment like the big brother house.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/01/2018 17:03

@Youcanstayundermyumbrella Andrew, Ashley and Jess are all from reality shows too. The Apprentice, Made in Chelsea and Ex on the Beach respectively. I think that's right. Jonny seems to be the only 'typical' one though.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 09/01/2018 17:11

Ah, Enrique, I was ignoring the Apprentice. I hadn't realised about the women though. That's interesting, and I wonder whether they are behaving as they did on those shows? I though Jess' diary room talk about realising how different Ann and Rachel are to her usual company was poignant.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/01/2018 17:13

I'd like to see Shane's speech about men can have vaginas and women can have penises in context of the full conversation. Clips can be misrepesentative.

I'd also like to know more about the psychological testing and counselling that India had before transition. I've seen paper talk of what the operation(s) cost her and don't know whether that means she had her assessment, surgeries and/or treatments entirely privately funded? or if the NHS played any part. If entirely private, I wonder how thorough the psychological part was.

betgilroy · 09/01/2018 17:14

Johnny is too dull to be in the house full stop.
He or dapper need to leave.
It's too soon for IW to leave.
Ann looks like she's warming up a bit - having a makeover ?

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 09/01/2018 17:15

India's operations were on the NHS. They've discussed it.

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 17:26

I think the difference with Ashley and jess (re reality shows) is that they have careers apart from (even if stemming from) their appearances. Jonny is just a professional reality star.

And I'd guess the difference with Andrew is perhaps that the apprentice is a different kind of reality show - it's actually a competition based on some sort of skill (if you can call it that) rather than a show about people getting drunk and shagging each other

Only1scoop · 09/01/2018 17:30

Hope they aren't going to be treading on egg shells at the face to facers tonight....

Italiangreyhound · 09/01/2018 17:31

BelligerentGardenPixies Courtney is exempt.

misscockerspaniel "As to the first to leave, the bookies seem to think it is between..."

what u what and IW?

WaitrosePigeon · 09/01/2018 17:46

Just caught up with last nights show.

India is so attention seeking. Surely her career won’t be able to just start up again?

Although I don’t agree with some of Ann’s views I do actually like her.

Don’t like the way Dapper talks about the women. I wonder what his girlfriend is thinking?

When I look at India or hear her I just think
‘Man’.

mirialis · 09/01/2018 17:51

I think originally Malika was going to do the makeover then it was suggested Courtney shd do it. Ann said she'd let her do it if she dressed like a lady instead of a tart!

Finally caught up - Shane said "I won't make you look like a tart" before Ann said that if he could make Courtney look like a lady and not a tart, then she would let him give her a makeover".

bestthings · 09/01/2018 18:01

Totally gone off Shane for saying that, and i'm very disappointed too, he was one of the few i really liked. You can't make something true just because you'd like it to be. So bloody wrong.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 09/01/2018 18:04

The reaction to Ann I am finding fascinating, because I know lots of women like her. I've worked with plenty (actually including Ann herself) and while some of her views and life experience are unusual (not many female Anglicans actually left the church as a result of the ordination of women for example), as a 'type' she is not particularly out of the ordinary for me. It's making me realise that maybe I exist in strange circles.

Having other careers certainly distinguishes Jess and Ashley from many other reality types!

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2018 18:05

If Shane truly believes that, then why bother with glue and fake breasts?

Missrabbitneedsabreak · 09/01/2018 18:14

mirialis just catching up on posts from earlier and wanted to comment on Andrew again - I totally agree that many 20 year olds probably do talk about women like that. But I don't think that makes it ok. I eas referring to scenes shown on BOTS.

I was trying to make the point earlier that nice intelligent young men like him should be educated to the fact that talking like that objectifies women and reinforces the view that women are merely for men's sexual entertainment. I think there's hope for him and other young men like him to change (But less hope for dapper and possibly the love island one, who seem too arrogant and stupid to probably care). I certainly would hope my son never talks about women like that at any age.

I was flamed on here yesterday and accused of being anti feminist for sticking up for some of IW's views on transgender so I'm a bit shocked that on the same thread people are happy to dismiss Andrew's misogynistic comments just because he's come across as otherwise nice? Where have all the hard-lined feminists gone?? Grin I hope he redeems himself

mirialis · 09/01/2018 18:20

as a 'type' she is not particularly out of the ordinary for me. It's making me realise that maybe I exist in strange circles

I think it's more that she's out of the ordinary for BB and also a younger audience. I noticed just now on the bit on the side programme that they showed the clip of her saying she didn't agree with gay marriage and then praised Shane for "handling it beautifully" and not having an argument - to be fair, Ann should be praised for handling it well too given that she is the only person in the house with the views that she has and won't shy away from saying what she thinks but equally won't get pushed into an argument.... yet.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/01/2018 18:21
Hmm

mirialis · 09/01/2018 18:22

I didn't say that I thought it was fine for Andrew to talk about women that way - I said I wasn't surprised and am surprised other people are Confused Maybe I've just overheard more "lads conversations" than most due to work.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/01/2018 18:22

Oh cross posts. That was not to you mirailis

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2018 18:24

Hmm AEM I couldn't have put it better.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/01/2018 18:24

I knew lots of women like Ann too - relatives, teachers and neighbours.

Missrabbitneedsabreak · 09/01/2018 18:25

Didn't mean to imply you were saying that mirialis excuse my wording. I named you just because you were one of the posters I saw discussing it before and wanted to rejoin that chat. I am not surprised either by the way, just musing that I'd like to see him being educated on it.

Also just to clarify the comment re hard lined feminists was tongue in cheek, before i get flamed again!

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2018 18:29
