Celeb Big Bro Thread 2 - Courtney's audition for the Bucks Fizz tribute act wasn't quite what they were looking for...

Yes, I know it is a shock to discover CBB celebrities famous for something other than being on other reality shows, but there are some in the house this year! It is a miracle!

Still no shopping lists, decent long-lasting tasks and lack of BB interference but we can't have everything can we?

PWBs - pull up a chair (from your favourite Oak furniture dealer), grab your snacks and get stuck in!

I love a good trans thread/debate, but I am disappointed this is where the CBB thread has ended up. We were having really good discussions about the show, the celebs and the relationships. It’s a shame that it’s been derailed by a small handful who want to deny reality. Can’t you save that for the actual trans threads and let us carry on talking about the programme please? Seeing as this thread is in Telly Addicts, after all...

Thehairthebod · 08/01/2018 17:01

Yes, let's get back to the show. Someone linked the preview upthread, it looks like tonight will be a good'in!

Just to point out I was saying in a previous post what the debate is, not what my opinion in response to all the questions are. Some of my points have been partially copied and pasted to twist my points slightly so I will back out now.

I have no idea what the abbreviations terf cis tim etc are so i don't fully understand everything said in response to posts on here. I'm no LGBT debate expert. I came on here to discuss BB as I have for the past few years and merely wanted to comment on the offensiveness that I've perceived in some posts on this thread. The CBB thread has always been one in the past where healthy debate has been welcome, not met with discourteous abuse when one person has a different opinion to the majority views on here.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/01/2018 17:06

YAY, tonight's looks good.

I agree haidees about Malika - she seems really smart. I've not watched BB for years because it is so dire, but this one seems to have a lot of intelligent, interesting people in which actually makes it worth watching.

Missrabbitneedsabreak · 08/01/2018 17:08

Tippexy I never intended to derail it having been a "PWB" myself for a few years. As I said I came on here to discuss CBB and added to the IW discussion. Which has been met with backlash because my views did not echo everyone else's. I just wanted to defend myself and clarify my stance. More than happy for this to go back to CBB! As you were. I really am signing out now lol

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 08/01/2018 17:09

let's get back to the show
Ok, point well made. (Sorry, just was a bit pissed off)

I like Courtney too. I quite respect Ann, although I don't agree with some of her opinions.

I haven't watched BB for several years as it was taking over my life. DH walked in last night when I was watching catch up and said, 'yes you are being judged and you have been found wanting' Blush. But he was into it as much as I was years back and decided together to stop watching it. Going to have to reel him back in now [evil cackle]

PositivelyPERF · 08/01/2018 17:12

You're right, of course, I have allowed myself to get involved in the derailment. My apologies to the realists on here. Back to CBB.

It looks interesting tonight I'm in love with Malika. I really am impressed by her strength of character. She won't permit herself to be manipulated. I wonder if she's not worried about refusing to go along with the 'real women' mantra is to do with the fact she's not British. I can't imagine that the TRAs have a strong voice in America.

WaitrosePigeon · 08/01/2018 17:14

Just catching up with last night...

Loved the task. The cocktails look lovely. I really like Courtney/Shane.

Dapper is awful.

PositivelyPERF · 08/01/2018 17:20

APAB Grin You shall be assimilated.

I'm trying to manipulate get my oldest to watch it. He has drank the kool aid and I think it would be a slap of reality for him. Though I'm talking around the topic, as in, "there was a really interesting talk about gay marriage last night and this older politician said......" Ended up having a good chat. I WILL catch him. (Responding evil cackle)

JanetStWalker · 08/01/2018 17:25

Worked out that I have fancied John Barnes for 30 years! How the hell has that happened?!! At least I'm consistent I suppose. Hmm

Expect to see India on the next series of that ghoulish CH5 therapy show...

Royalfuckup · 08/01/2018 17:27

What’s a “PWB”?

I’ve been trying to look it up and all I can find is Partially Weight Bearing which can’t be right in this context? Confused

Dowser · 08/01/2018 17:43

Posh whore Bitches

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 08/01/2018 17:45

@Tippexy it's a debate raised not only by the inclusion of such a divisive personality such as India, it's because of BB's chosen 'Women' theme, so I don't mind it at all.

I think @Missrabbitneedsabreak makes some good points. I don't have any problem refering to India as 'she' seeing as she's radically changed her life and is living as a woman. I do, however, have a massive problem with the idea of woman as a social construct. I have a problem with India shouting about being 'A REAL WOMAN' as opposed to what? a pretend woman? a fake woman? an imaginary woman? Making new subsections and applying them to women downgrades us at a time when we still have so much to strive for to reach parity with men in society. This very week the gender pay gap at the BBC has hit the headlines again. Further categorizing women who are not trying to challenge or change their own status quo is utterly demeaning and sets us back yet further imo.

I'd find it easier to find some sympathy for India and her position if she was a pleasant and empathetic person who didn't make abusive remarks about others.

I don't think she's a happy person, or one who's comfortable in her own skin and this is shown up in such sharp contrast to Courtney, John, Shane, Andrew, Amanda and especially Ann. Ann's opinions and professional history are unpopular but she has her firmly held religious and political beliefs, explains them without tantruming and sits and listens to others. She even went against type when Andrew was making her bed and telling her not to interfere.

As others have said the conversation between her and Shane (as Shane not as Courtney) was a joy to observe. It's the kind of scenario I started watching BB for.

I'd like to see Rachel use her journalistic skills to ask India about her position at Ch5 after five years away from TV and whether she knows if her pay grade is on a par with the other news presenters doing the same work. I'd also like to hear her speak about her parenting postion seeing as she's been estranged from her biological son for the past two years.

Sorry I typed all that a while ago and the thread's moved on Blush

PWB is posh whore bitch. Insults flung at posters by a troll way back.
IFPWB further insults 'intellectually feeble' posh whore bitches.

We embraced the insults and reclaimed them with a Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/01/2018 17:50

"Ahem" as a lovely mod used to say... this is the CBB thread, a lot of us have been chatting together for years, we are always good natured and agree to disagree without calling each other names.

MissRabbit - In the spirit of the above, if you want to discuss what a woman is please take it somewhere else. Intentionally or not you are derailing the CBB thread with your wonderings.

Royal - years ago we had a weird troll with a dirty foot fetish come to our thread and when we didn't rise to his bait he called us a bunch of "Posh Whore Bitches" and we adopted the name.

Janet John has a place in my heart.
So calm and measured a man. Did you see his conversation the other night when he was talking about racism in football? and have you read This His children sound amazing and his mother, well, what can you say? incredible.

Before posting that I was going to say that I imagine John, definitely Shane L and probably Courtney/Shane, have all had strong women in their lives. I wonder what kind of female role models India had or has in her life and who she takes her inspiration from?

I watched the programme with Caitlin Jenner the other night and was struck by the fact that like India, she seems very self absorbed and self centred, quite apart from the fact that she was being interviewed on a programme which was all about her I mean.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/01/2018 17:53

@JanetStWalker - me too. He is lovely. I had forgotten how much I fancy him. I am still humming the rap.

John even got away with that god awful 'Spice Boy' suit, just about

Can you believe that was over 20 years ago? Shock

Wow, well that I was not expecting! Shock

So essentially another way of saying Nest of Vipers then? Excellent, late to the party but

busyboysmum · 08/01/2018 18:00

Although I don't agree with much Ann says, I am loving the fact that she is so strong, doesn't care what anyone else thinks and sticks to her guns.

I enjoyed the debate she had with Shane. Its so nice to see people are still allowed to state their opinions without the word "bigot" being flung around.

I like Andrew a lot. Also JB of course. What a great guy. Calm and measured and sensible.

It's been a very interesting show so far. Miles better than the shriek fests of old. I'd stopped watching but this has drawn me back in.

Royalfuckup · 08/01/2018 18:02

I think Rachel is very attractive. Charm personified so far. I’m waiting to see how long she can stay in that zone before any real emotion comes out.

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 18:03

I saw a preview that Andrew is in drag tonight (is that too spoilery? Big apologies if so). He is already a pretty man, did I say that already? I bet he'll make a beautiful drag queen

Chipstick10 · 08/01/2018 18:04

Why are posts being deleted ? Is misgendering someone against the law ? There are far too many powerful lobbyists . It’s quite frightening

JanetStWalker · 08/01/2018 18:07

He is a god among men. Smile

RubyJack · 08/01/2018 18:07

Are we REALLY foing to have our fun and light hearted thread back?
