Not sure what Roxanna has discovered (if anything) but Gas Kill is trying to make HH think that she’s lost the plot and behaving manically. And it looks like it’s starting to work.

SoupDragon · 05/09/2018 10:10

Roxanna knows Gaskill is covering up the encephalitis problem with the trial and she knows the original stuff was contaminated. She has recognised that he thinks he is untouchable and a god.

I haven’t a scooby about what she’s discovering now though.

SleepingStandingUp · 05/09/2018 10:37

Roz nothing yet, she's still collating.

Gas Kill is trying to convince HH has Roz is paranoid and delusional due to unresolved grief so he'll think she's imagining all the evidence for the trial being shit

sluj · 05/09/2018 13:22

I've had enough of this story line and actually I'm not finding any of it enthralling at the moment. Apart from HH and Dom, I'm not really liking any of the characters either. Very close to giving up on Holby

Optimist1 · 05/09/2018 14:10

Thanks for clarification, everyone. I sort of got that Gas-kill was discrediting Roxanna, but couldn't read the text messages that were going between her and HH so I thought I'd missed something crucial. If Gas-kill's like this when he doesn't know about her fact finding mission what's he going to be like when he discovers what she's been up to (regardless of whether she finds incriminating stuff or not)!

The Roxanna/Gaskill story is just dragging on now and I also find myself glossing over when it’s playing out on screen.

I can’t quite work out Essie, sometimes I think she’s supposed to be switched on and then at other times I think she’s on her own planet. I think she gets over emotionally involved with patients and crosses the professional line. I think she’s letting her feelings about Josh cloud her professional judgement and is allowing herself to be swept up in Gaskill’s madness. It was the same when she got attached to (and obsessed) that tennage boy who went to live with her in a foster-carer type sense. I can’t remember what his name was....was it Spencer? I just find her behaviour and thoughts very strange at times.

MyOtherProfile · 05/09/2018 23:27

Parker. And yes I agree. Essie is v odd.

SoupDragon · 06/09/2018 07:11

I think part of the problem with this trial is that it seems to depend on a lot of medical knowledge that passes me by. I’ve vaguely grasped the basics but there’s a niggling feeling I simply don’t understand what the problems are or might be and that makes me disinterested.

I also feel I’ve missed an episode - I remember the last one ending with the operation cancelled for Rugby Boy and the mother saying she withdrew consent for the embryos to be used and then Gas-kill shown with the embryos having said he cancelled them. Now the operation has gone ahead and everyone is happy.

MyOtherProfile · 06/09/2018 07:16

I think part of the problem with this trial is that it seems to depend on a lot of medical knowledge that passes me by.

That's interesting because I've always assumed it I'd made up medical knowledge so have ignored it. Maybe you're right and it's real stuff that I just don't understand.

SoupDragon · 06/09/2018 07:36

Oh, it might be made up but it’s still incomprehensible. I’ve understood other things they’ve had (like the Herzig heart thing) but this seems impenetrable to me. I also don’t quite understand what it’s for as they seem to have switched from paralysis to scoliosis and scar tissue!

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 10:37

Re eggs

Rugbymom signed the form assuming it would help rugbyboy. Gaskill said nah love, it's for other people. Rugbymom said well I withdraw consent, please rip up my consent form but don't bother showing me or proving you did it. Gaskill said yeah love, sure I will (crackles evil) and went through to apply for them anyway. No one knows except Gaskill and us. But my guess is Essie who knows Rugbymom said no will find them as he seems to leave them out on the side a lot

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 10:37

They've def glossed over why he is now having the op

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 10:40

So my understanding is
In Jac's back for instance there was a lot of scar tissue around the spinal column that was blocking the signals going up and down it. He debrided it ("I knew I knew that word, I got it muddled with debearded on a question on Pointless) so took away all the dead tissue but that meant there was a gap in functional tissue. The neo-conduit, which is what I think it's called, acts like a bridge. It links the two functional parts of the spinal column.

PretendLife · 06/09/2018 15:49

Does Gas-kill just work on the trial patients and not treat anyone else for general things? He seems to just brood down in the basement, or wherever his lab is and not be involved in anything else.

Autumn trailer looks quite promising for Holby as long as they don't do anything too ridiculous to be believable.

PiggeryPorcombe · 06/09/2018 16:22

FFS Guy Self is coming back?! Urgh.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 17:51

Oi, where's my praise for summarising the medical significance of Gas Kills work lol???

Yeah he came just to do that I think. And Swan about

ChoccyJules · 06/09/2018 18:09

Epic description from Sleeping there! Grin
Off to watch the trailer. If I must (don’t like Guy uphimSelf)...

PretendLife · 06/09/2018 19:08

I liked Guy before he hit the bottle. I'm looking forward to him coming back.

SoupDragon · 06/09/2018 19:10

I would rather not have known Guy is coming back. 🙄

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 19:57

Thanks Julie's (sleeping blushes delicately)

SleepingStandingUp · 06/09/2018 19:57

Jules

HalleLouja · 06/09/2018 22:14

There is a separate thread to discuss the trailer (see above for link).

DaffodilPower · 07/09/2018 09:16

All of the medical 'stuff' is based on fact, and they have advisers - two of the consultants where I work have advised on the bowl transplant script - I don't think they want to be too fanciful or accused of making things up, in case people watching start asking their GPs for imaginary treatments!

I didn't watch this week, so will have to catch up, but I'm pretty sure next week is the one I've read :)

DaffodilPower · 07/09/2018 09:18

Oh no, not next week.. I'm waiting for episode 40!

SleepingStandingUp · 07/09/2018 10:20

Daffodil Power did I get my summary of his work right??
