I am soooo sick of this stupid trials storyline with one-facial-expression boy taking up too much screentime for it.

frazzled3ds · 20/06/2018 21:01

I really, really hope that the truth about Gaskell and his slapdash approach to things comes to light and soon. Yes, I'm sure risks have to be taken in the pursuit of progress, but refusing to be challenged or acknowledge issues that others raise, to the point of firing them is arrogant, dangerous and callous.

Nice to see Serena and Bernie work out their differences though. Still not convinced on the Fletch/CEO woman storyline, I'm sure he should be with Jac!

MyOtherProfile · 20/06/2018 22:02

He can't be with Jac tho if Gaskell is going to let her be collateral and kill her off Hmm

ChoccyJules · 20/06/2018 22:08

I just can't fathom how he got to be such an acclaimed actor when he slurs his words the whole time. I am accustomed to talking to people with speech anomalies and I cannot understand him!

SleepingStandingUp · 20/06/2018 23:15

I'll bloody kill him if he hurts Jac!

MyOtherProfile · 20/06/2018 23:20

Choccy absolutely. At the end of his speech at the beginning I had to ask dh what he had been saying but he had no idea either. Wasn't interested enough to rewind and listen again though

Finallybreathingout · 20/06/2018 23:50

Yes! This portentous speeches delivered into thin air that are only half comprehensible. So very dull.

MyOtherProfile · 21/06/2018 06:44

And the weird close ups from funny angles of his face. I don't know what perception the producers think we are all having of him but I suspect the reality is quite different.

And isn't it such a happy coincidence that whatever maverick research Gaskell is doing, it just happens to be exactly what Jac needs?

MyOtherProfile · 21/06/2018 06:45

And actually while I'm having a moan, fletch running off with CEO lady just belittles all the chemistry and emotion between him and Jac for all that time because he can't even be bothered to go and see her now.

StopPOP · 21/06/2018 06:59

I actually thought Gaskell was talking in a foreign language the first 5 minutes Hmm Turned the volume up-nope. Repeating "What???" multiple times to DH didn't translate it either 😂

Finallybreathingout · 21/06/2018 08:42

Wasn't he reciting the Hippocratic Oath in Latin? I assumed that purely because he began with 'Primum non nocere' which was the name of the two episodes and means 'first, do no harm'.

MyOtherProfile · 21/06/2018 09:13

Maybe he was! I've got Latin o level and only picked up that phrase so I assumed the rest was in mumbled English but maybe that's it!

ISaySteadyOn · 21/06/2018 09:26

SleepingStandingUp, I will assist you if he hurts Jac.

Seriously, though, Rosie Marcel isn't leaving, is she?

SleepingStandingUp · 21/06/2018 09:34

I don't know, she teased a death but could be Essie, which seems unnecessarily mean.
I'm also fed up of her being in pain, hobbling, etc. Just FIX HER!

PretendLife · 21/06/2018 11:03

Am I the only one who doesn't care about Jac? 13 years playing the same part...time she went really! I'm wondering if the 'funeral flowers' and dying cactus are a hint of what is to come? I watched The Bill yesterday and Smithy/Fletch has just met Louise/Jac - guess what, she is arrogant and stroppy....

The Fletch and Abi thing is really cringe. Where are they shagging?, is that his bed they are getting out of, with his 4 kids in the house, one of which didn't like her? What happened about Fletch considering taking a step back from his job to spend more time with his kids? with his shifts and the time he spends with Abi he must be seeing even less of them. Must be some childcare bill he is paying.

This is the sort of stuff that winds me up about Holby, nothing is consistent.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/06/2018 11:16

He really should marry the Nanny, he'd be rich.

PiggeryPorcombe · 21/06/2018 12:52

His childcare arrangements piss me off every week. Long shift then he’s asking Abi out for dinner? FFS. I think they should have had his mum move in with him or something to make it at least slightly believeable. He’s got four fecking kids including a preschooler hasn’t he? I used to cringe when Raf was the alleged helper with homework etc Hmm

SleepingStandingUp · 21/06/2018 12:55

Yeah preschooler is in hospital creche previously with Emma. Then there a girl, then thuglet then Evie. No idea who picks tiddler up from creche, I assume Evie does lots of childcare poor kid.
I like Fletch but I think he's largely a shit Dad.

PiggeryPorcombe · 21/06/2018 13:42

I agree.

HalleLouja · 21/06/2018 14:20

I seem to remember Fleur was a friend of Spence's. We need to bring back Dr Spence I think.

Hopefully Jac won't die. Also, Serena had me sobbing on the whole story about Elinor. Bernie did the right thing leaving her to help Greta and Jason. She obviously needs to be part of that family.

As for Gas Kill. What a twat.

PretendLife · 21/06/2018 18:43

I bet the writers wish they hadn't given Fletch 4 kids now, just the 2 older ones would have been more believable. Mind you, much as I fancy Fletch (although he is not as hot as he used to be) most of his story doesn't make sense. Could you really go from mechanic to Director of Nursing in 6/7 years, on the Board of the hospital? I don't think he would have been allowed to take that money from the patient either that conveniently paid off his debts and he got a mortgage, no CCJ's for years worth of debts then?!

Yes! bring back Michael Spence!

SleepingStandingUp · 21/06/2018 19:16

Yeah he'd def be better with the older two, or as someone said, move in his mum

MyOtherProfile · 21/06/2018 19:46

If one of Fletchs kids is at preschool with Emma how long is it since his wife died? Was his youngest a tiny baby then?

PiggeryPorcombe · 21/06/2018 20:06

Fletch has been in Holby since Aug 2014. Not sure how long after that his ex wife died but gave birth during his leaving storyline from Casualty. So yes it would have been probably around a yr old when she died? Child must be due to start school in Sept.

Finallybreathingout · 21/06/2018 20:53

I've got Latin o level and only picked up that phrase so I assumed the rest was in mumbled English but maybe that's it!

Or you could be right! Who knows? Maybe it was a little-known verse by Byron? McGann appears to inhabit some odd thespy corner of Holby that the rest just ignore. I guess Hansen occasionally wanders in but we love him so we endure those moments.
