I think we are to assume that we saw JWB's dying moments between Christmas and NY, as Josh mentioned that he understood that Max found it hard to accept Abbue's death, as he felt the same way with his dad.

I guess that Mel was summoned by Chiara,as she rang someone last week and said "pack a case, you're coming back to your old stomping ground."

I am so disappointed with Mas. I feel my love for him is spent. :(

I can see why Ben would take the money from Phil after he messed him about over the car lot, but I find it hard to believe that he would put Billy in danger, surely he knew Billy would take the rap for the missing money?

The jump between Thursday and Monday's episodes was dreadful. Surely there would be talk about one of Billy's recent graves being found dug up? Even if they weren't caught in the act by the police, that kind of local news gathers momentum quickly. Jay would know for sure. Or are we to believe that Phil managed to fill the grave back in and somehow dispose of the body in the hearse before he hopped off to Spain or wherever he's gone? It's like they had some random ideas for a few episodes, put them in a lucky dip and picked them out at random when writing, there is no other way to explain the disjointed storylines, missing cast members, and dead ends. Although, I would love it if Dire Danny has now left and the didn't even give him a send off or a duff duff.

Theshipsong · 10/01/2018 01:04

I'd say digging up bodies would be fairly serious alright Smile

I thought Mel looked great. They have 'glammed' her up as she looked the same as the old Mel when she was in Hotel or something like that.

The garage isn't very secure is it especially considering the same neighbour/trader was standing to the left of it in every scene, he would have seen someone breaking in surely.

What was in the box that was staggeringly heavy to carry? The money was in the suitcase wasn't it? Then removed and put into a black bag but sort of piled in. Then a bigger box wrapped in a black bag was shoved under the table held up by tyres, in front of the suitcase How would Ben 'know' there was money in the coffin. He isn't the brightest spark at the best of times.

I'm guessing 'Daisy' is a grandchild who lives with another family and visits them. They wouldn't be allowed foster her but she must be in foster care elsewhere if social services are involved in her visits?
No doubt we will see family arriving including a bad 'un! The men in Masood's family are always depicted as helpless on their own and the 'uncle' is following suit.

Is Masood different to how he was the first time around? Wasn't he always a shown as a weak man and a schemer and there was storyline after storyline of him in financial difficulty? I remember him lying a lot, stealing Tamwar's uni money, drinking when declaring he wasn't and he wasn't able to manage by himself until Shabnam moved back in. I remember him being horrible for one storyline but I can't remember the storyline but he was especially weak. He is a very flawed character. I don't think they changed his character at all (which I'm glad about).

tobee · 10/01/2018 02:32

The thing about this show being so shoddy at the moment is we don't know why it is. Therefore we don't know if it'll get better. It's had crap patches in the past and pulled it together after months but I'm not sure anymore if I trust it will this time.

tobee · 10/01/2018 02:34

Netflix alone is over £95 a year. Just saying!

BadHairDay0 · 10/01/2018 06:41

Flabbergasted last night that we've got even more storylines to add to the pot!

  • Tiffany's arrival, why is she there, why is she pretending to be Bianca in order to be able to stick around
  • Daisy's arrival / disappearance, who is she and what's the story
  • Mel's arrival, what's she doing back, where's she going to stay, how long is she back for
  • Karen's outstanding interview technique landing her the job in the launderette

Absurd that the bloke brings £10,000 in cash to a meeting about valuing jewellery and then decides it happens to be worth exactly £10,000.

Don't give us any more stories!!!!!!!!!!!! Concentrate on the ones you've already got, EE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annoying that Martin doesn't seem at all bothered about where his bipolar wife is, with small children including fairly recently born prem baby.

Where's Vincent? Kim's grieving for her lost baby and he's vanished!

What happened to Halfwit? Was he let go when the Carters disappeared to Watford? And what about the lease? Is Shirley just going to be manning the fort indefinitely on her own?

Lauren? Oh, I've given up now.

Dailystuck71 · 10/01/2018 06:54

The jewellery thing was utterly ridiculous.

My thoughts were that Mel has been in touch with Ben or the other person due to return has. They’ve known about the robbery and have tipped Ben off somehow I think.

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 07:01

Karen reminds me of the wisecracking donkey in shrek! Mr P is rather lovely Though. He can stay ( I would wash his smalls) give him a bigger part in the show .

SoupDragon · 10/01/2018 07:12

Ciara did summon someone back by phone didn’t She? I agree that it must have been Mel. Although given the storylines, it could have been Tiffany.

I assume that the police weren’t coming to the graveyard and the Super gang managed to switch the coffins and fill the grave back in. As it was freshly dug anyway, it maybe wouldn’t have been that obvious.

Mick did tell Linda to pack a bag as they were “going away” so I imagine everyone else did too.

iknowimcoming · 10/01/2018 09:01

Tiff has obviously done a bunk and Bianca doesn't know she's at Whits - the fake call was to facilitate her staying longer.

My question is - is Keanu actually in his room or are Bernie and Keegan pretending he is whilst he is in costa del crime with the others? Also why are they all hiding when no one seems to suspect any of them? Pantomime season I'm guessing Confused

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 09:06

I bet Ciara will see that necklace - i can guarantee it! what was he thinking? people on your tail and you give the loot away , something they can wear too? He may have stolen the money from under their noses, but he isnt thinking straight about that.
Why ' doing it for dad' too - he has never got on that well with Phil -
that doesnt make sense. Jay is about the only one who ' tells it like it is'
still, last nights one wasnt as bad and it was good to see Karen look nice for a change ( and a bit happier)
shirley was hasty there letting Whitney go, she will still need some help around the pub and sausage isnt always about - Tina works in the cafe so she can t do much and Tracey is part time. I suppose she has never liked her though.

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 09:08

Mel was in Hotel Babylon with Max Beesley a few years back now.
And an army drama - red caps. she has done a few things since she left EE years ago.

glamorousgrandmother · 10/01/2018 09:19

I used to dip in ad out of EE and I can't believe that now I'm watching it regularly because it's so bad. I think I can't resist seeing just how bad it can get.

iknowimcoming · 10/01/2018 09:23

To be fair Ben isn't to know the robbery was an inside job (I.e. Aidan was robbing his own ex-wife) therefore someone local will recognise the necklace - agree still daft though Grin

Mas was in the trailer for next weeks episode of Silent Witness so perhaps he's been getting some better job offers hence his absence?

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 09:29

i know that Ben doesnt know about Ciara, but you still wouldnt dish out the goods like that - especially as its such a big piece of jewellery and very sparkly, i would be worried about Aidan coming back and seeking revenge and seeing her wearing it. Ben is assuming he is in the clear a bit too soon! ( maybe not now, but he did at first)

SoupDragon · 10/01/2018 09:32

I wondered whether Ben wants the necklace seen. Even he is surely not so stupid as to think a distinctive, flashy diamond necklace is going to go unnoticed.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2018 09:33

Even if he doesn’t know about the inside job aspect, he knows the police are suspicious!

iknowimcoming · 10/01/2018 09:41

Indeed - although I'm not sure Walford police are very smart - they could double their crime-solving figures if someone just watched the cctv out the front of the station and made notes on the people who walk up to the building and then change their minds and turn around again or who get intercepted by other people and have their minds changed for them! Wink

Craftylady28 · 10/01/2018 10:33

I must have missed a bit last night - why did Ben smash down the door of the Arches when he returned to count (in plain sight) the cash?

Craftylady28 · 10/01/2018 10:35

PS the same happened last NYear, a lot of the characters disappeared for a couple of weeks, as it coincided with panto season and with winter flu.
Also, remember 2 years ago when LOADS of the actors were unwell, so they had to write the winter flu into the story as they were dropping like flies.

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 10:46

I dont remember the winter flu thing crafty- losing my memory a bit i think. i know a few do panto, so have to be written out till about jan or February., they usually film about 5 or 6 weeks ahead as well.
i think that Ben saw the padlock on the floor and thought someone was in there? then Mel showed up.
They are never seen doing any work in that garage are they? hardly any cars in there, really old equipment. most garages around here are chokka block every day. Ben works on his own as well, although i recall seeing a guy in there a while back who didnt say anything.

Theshipsong · 10/01/2018 11:14

I got the impression that the jewellery was worth an awful lot more. The ‘valuer’ knew that and also knew it was stolen and Ben needed to get rid of it. 10K was quite a lot of cash to give without examine it properly at all. Obv one or two pieces alone could fetch it.

Ciara must have called Mel. Though who owned the jewellery originally. Ciara didn’t look like she was that wealthy.

Craftylady28 · 10/01/2018 11:19

ah thanks 80s - that makes sense re the padlock

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 11:21

No, the man didnt look properly at any of it - and who conducts a transaction like that in such a public place as there? surely you would go somewhere away from prying eyes or CCTV cameras. There was a lot of it as well.
all very odd - he has been ripped off big time. its worth more than that.
Maybe it is all Mel's - she has become a international jewellery thief in Portugal, as well as bringing up Steve's son on her own. AS you do.

Craftylady28 · 10/01/2018 11:24

Do I remember correctly that in the funeral parlour (when they were "planning" the "heist") that someone (maybe Aidan?) looked at a piece of jewellery on one of the corpses? Have I completely imagined that? Or has someone been nicking the jewellery from them (Billy/Jay?)

The80sweregreat · 10/01/2018 11:25

Its just speculation on my part - but Mel ran off years and years ago to live in Portugal pregnant with Steve Owen's son. Grunt also lives in Portugal.
odd that!
