Would TANYA seriously take off when both daughters in hospital

Why hasn’t lauren mentioned josh

Why havnt we seen Luke tied up

Why did fi give cafe to Kathy for £1 yet the pub for £150k

What doesn’t make sense about Ben (amongst other things!) is that Jay clearly doesn’t know. Ben couldn’t have got the money from the coffin alone so it would have made sense for Jay to have been involved. Someone had to have help him and that surely means Billy, Phil or Aidan if it isn’t Jay. Or Ciara...?

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 08:15

Ciara will be after her money I bet! She won’t let this drop.

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 08:16

Sharon looked shifty too.

Akire · 09/01/2018 09:21

Maybe with Luke still stuck in back of a van Ben had held him to random and somehow found out about the robbery (only of it is all a WB plan , but hey anything can happen) since it involves half business owners in the area.

Or Phil asked Ben to look
After money but risky to bring it to the archers. Did Ajay get money for at lot? He had a couple of grand and seeems unbothered about getting the full amount.

Even if Maz had managed get deposit to rent from jack (just why?) he is broke so what was he going to do at the end of the month. It’s not ice cream season. Surely his curry stall that he and Roxy did was
Doing well and more of a fit than ice cream van.

Akire · 09/01/2018 09:24

DObt like Karen’s sudden racism especially with a mixed race son. He was in a business suit for start so what she was saying made
No sense. Plus thought flogged landrette to someone else for new flashier business? Are we supposed believe it’s shut last year with no
Income and will Open exactly the same machines?

iknowimcoming · 09/01/2018 09:53

I reckon the money was never in the coffin, we did say how did Aidan get the loot out of the arches didn't we? Maybe he didn't straight away, left it there and Ben found it and swapped it for some rubble as he was pissed off with Phil using the arches for the heist? Aidan maybe snuck back later and picked up a heavy bag none the wiser? Would make vague sense of them using the arches too if it was building up to Ben finally getting one over on his dad for the car lot debacle?

Also I was really chuffed to see the return of the launderette and tiff Grin

SoupDragon · 09/01/2018 10:33

There was more than one suitcase full in that big white van wasn’t there? I thought they took several bags/boxes/whatevers out of the van into the arches.

lottieandmia22 · 09/01/2018 10:59

'Don't like Karen’s sudden racism especially with a mixed race son'

But that's the thing about racists - they are hypocrites usually because their views make no sense.

iknowimcoming · 09/01/2018 11:21

Agree Lottie - in Karen's eyes Keegan is British but mr popodopoulous would be a foreigner sadly Sad

southeastdweller · 09/01/2018 11:32

Yeah it’s believable. I’ve known plenty of people who have partners a different race to themselves or/and mixed race kids who’re racist. It’s very common.

arriettyspiders · 09/01/2018 12:47

It's baffling isn't it, the casual racism. Were we supposed to find that particular scene funny! Shock I didn't like Karen before, but she's gone further down in my estimation now.

Agree with poster who mentioned the Maz we knew would not have behaved like that! He was fond of Carmel, and came back for her at one point, I don't believe he'd be trying to cheat her out of her deposit. I thought he'd start up his food stall again.

Yawn to Whitney's specially designed t shirts, that's another old recycled storyline (Vicky, Bianca, probably others)

arriettyspiders · 09/01/2018 12:49

Oh yes, agree that I'd be surprised if Ben was acting alone.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2018 13:07

it was ben Shock

but how and why

felt like i had missed an episode with sirens going and phil alne, to him being abroad Hmm

mich in watford, so where is vincent the grass .....

and 80p a cup of tea in the cafe - never would be that price in the east end !!!

unless jay and ben did it together fr the pain phil caused jay over his dad

we need a launderette,no one apart from dot has a machine- dirty scummy lot Grin

Sad to see that cop back. He was acting so hard the other day I assumed it was coz it was his one and only chance. I thought Ciara had squared it and that was that?

So bitty and nothing gets sorted, storylines stumbling on, new ones starting up with no consistency or appeal.

People randomly disappear for no reason. People return for no reason. Tiff coming back had better have a good point.

As people have said it's like they are really trying hard to make the show rubbish. And that the rumours are true that the bbc want it gone. Sadand also Angry.

QueenAmongstMen · 09/01/2018 13:29

The BBC want it gone?? Have ratings really slumped or something?

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 13:32

if they axe the show, can we still carry on with this thread? we will have to make up our own soap.
i was shocked at Karen too - as if the man won't realise its her when she goes for the interview! silly woman.

tobee · 09/01/2018 13:33

Thems the rumours! Too expensive. They are being forced to make massive cuts in all areas because the government want to abolish the license and make the BBC commercial/disappear.

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 13:45

The licence fee is so cheap though compared to Sky, netflix, now TV etc etc - i know people that pay 100s a month for all that, yet moan about 152 a year for BBC( or whatever it is, i pay quarterly) and the radio without any ad breaks either! I know its not perfect etc, but i would miss it and i dont want to pay loads for other channels or just have ITV ( shudder!) blooming government, i hate them even more now.

tobee · 09/01/2018 13:49

But the argument is you have to pay the license fee. And the government has constant pressure from Murdoch. Even though the public are, generally, in favour of the BBC. But it's a whole other thread, innit?

1happyhippie · 09/01/2018 13:51

I didn't get last nights episode either?
Nothing makes sense, it's so annoying!
So Phil, muck and Linda are not gonna be in it for a bit? So we won't get to find out what happened?
Where's billy? Has he gone missing too? And Vincent? I think I heard Karen or Bernadette say keanu was in bed? He couldn't of gone anyway, as he is skint!
So Tiffany came back that means Whitney won't leave now and end up back in the vic.
Karen will somehow get the lauderette job and everything will be fine.
Are we supposed to believe that Ben took the money and jewellery from the arches or the coffin?
Would Aidan really put something that valuable in the coffin to hide it without even checking it first?
Very strange storylines at the minute

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 14:12

Tobee, yes. Sorry to derail this thread! I know people want it gone though.
The stories are v disjointed again.

Theshipsong · 09/01/2018 14:46

If they want it gone, why throw big money at episodes like the bus crash that went nowhere.

I think they can make a cheaper soap but maybe need to get rid of the actors who earn a lot more than the others. Thing is though, without the main characters the soap will become a bit like Hollyoaks or Homevand Away.

QueenAmongstMen · 09/01/2018 14:51

Could they not just reduce how often it's on? Remember the days where it was only shown on Tuesdays and Thursdays?

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2018 14:55

it was twice a week for about a year I think? then they made it 3 then 4 - too many really. It was popular and had a lot of fans, so it made sense to keep up with Corrie - but they could reduce it a bit now - have better stories but less episodes? who knows!
I still think that Sharon knows more than she is letting on- she was very laid back about the whole thing at the start and not nagging Phil to tell her anything when she knew something was going on.

tobee · 09/01/2018 14:56

That would seem to be the logical thing to do Queen. Although Eastenders and logic don't seem to be on nodding acquaintance at the moment Grin
