I've already switched off - and yes I'm a Christian - and yes we do smack our children (occasionaly) - but I don't like the way it looks like it's going to make out that whacking children with paddles etc is an inheritantly "Christian" way of bringing children up......

Smacking worked so well that the older boy was smacked "quite a lot of the time".

Watching this programme about student nurses instead.

They're in Lewis and I like to hear their accents.

I'm catholic but not practising but don't believe in smacking.

these beliefs are the reason amazon was removed as an mn partner...... books espousing these beliefs (hitting children with implements as "discipline") were available and a lot of people took exception to it.... this sounds v v distasteful. hope they get followed up by ssd.

I can't believe people will assume ALL christians are like that

People do a lot of distasteful things in the name of religion. One of the reasons that I don't subscribe to one.

perhaps not Jodie - but some will assume that all Christians who smack (ie DH and I) are like that..

I'd hope that not everyone would be so blinkered though. Maybe not but I wouldn't assume all Christians were like that.
