Words fail me, this has made me feel ill. I just want to go and cuddle my babies. Poor kids.

(I think it's obvious they're extremists btw)

ProfYaffle · 23/04/2007 21:21

Omg I feel sick, hitting a crawling baby

Hillls · 23/04/2007 21:27

OMG how can you spank a 6 month old baby

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:35

They don't seem to talk to their children about what they did wrong though, just get the switch or whatever they use out and hit them. She says she talks to them but she bloody didn't. That is sickening, the sound it made when she hit him with a piece of leather Poor little boy was crying and upset and she left him saying come and say sorry when you've stopped crying

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:36

What on earth is that teaching those poor children.

onlyjoking9329 · 23/04/2007 21:37

this is sickening.

SugaryBits · 23/04/2007 21:38

The sound of that child being hit has brought sick to my throat- and the wooden bats... unbearable.

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:38

Message from god saying make and hand out wooden paddles to hit kids with amazing how they think this is Christian. Have you seen how thick those things are??!!!

onlyjoking9329 · 23/04/2007 21:39

these people are deluded.

fransmom · 23/04/2007 21:39

quick glance through this suggests strongly that i don't watch it

i think that god is a loving god, not a vengeful or horrid one like that

Chloe55 · 23/04/2007 21:39

Bloody hell, which is where these people will end up

wheresthehamster · 23/04/2007 21:41

These children must be so confused.

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:43

Brainwashed is another word that springs to mind, poor kids.

Chloe55 · 23/04/2007 21:44

Good luck to them - my first time was crap

Chloe55 · 23/04/2007 21:45

I'm referring to the wedding night - not the smacking btw

wheresthehamster · 23/04/2007 21:46

You're coldy beaten one minute then receive a cuddle the next.

I'd love the children to get their revenge one day....
but it seems as if the next generation of child beaters are in the making.

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:49

It's so sad isn't it

JodieG1 · 23/04/2007 21:53

Great so the boys get to be leaders and the girls are trained to be homemakers I'm a sahm mum I wouldn't train my daughter to be one from day one, she can be whatever she wants to be.

wheresthehamster · 23/04/2007 21:59

How sad that the young girl thought there'd be anarchy if smacking became illegal. She actually looked horrified.

SueBaroo · 23/04/2007 22:07

Oh, this is repeated on Friday late night, I think. Sounds like there's an heavy influence of the Pearls philosophy if they're smacking a 6 month old.
I didn't know MN withdrew from Amazon partnership over that issue, interesting.

We're Christians, and yes, we smack, but it's not legal to use an implement in the UK any more is it?

divastrop · 23/04/2007 22:11

thankfully i only watched the first 5 minutes, but if these 'people' were hitting babies then i seriously hope the authorities have been informed.

i was brought up a catholic, and my mum used to smack me,but not cos of anything to do with religion,it was just the norm in the 70s/80s.

it confuses me that alot of these 'christians' are following the teachings of the old testament,i thought christians were followers of christ, who taught about love, peace etc?

maxsuncle · 23/04/2007 22:18

What was most horrific about this programme was the way in which these parents were attempting to isolate their children from the rest of society. Quite frankly, they came across as a gang of control freaks who wanted to turn their children into clones of themselves rather than allowing them to find their own path through life.

As for them following the old testament rather than the new testament, christians have always been choosy over which bits of the bible that they follow.

divastrop · 23/04/2007 22:29

my understanding of the OT is that its a collection of stories that were passed down through the ages by word of mouth, meaning they might have really happened, they might be 'urban myths' or they might be the product of somebodys imagination.and the NT contains the teachings of jesus which christianity is based on.this is what i learnt when doing A-level theology.

to me,this is no different to beating evil spirits out of posessed children
