New thread lassies for all things Jamie and Claire (and all things in between).

Only two episodes left! Hope everyone enjoyed episode 11.

That particular female wasn't impressed, quirky, and yet she appeared to be a book reader. Obviously one with very little imagination because the book sex is very intense and quite graphic.

quirkychick · 12/01/2018 16:40

Yy, to the book sex being intense and graphic. I'm sure before I watched or read Outlander, I was reading a review of the books and one reader complained about the erotic scenes. Erm, it's a book about an intense, passionate relationship...

Lessstressedhemum · 13/01/2018 09:50

You've got to wonder, don't you? What exactly do people expect from a book about the love between two strong, passionate people? The porn stars thing made me laugh. Really, if you don't like watching/reading intense sex scenes Outlander is not for you.

MoNigheanDonn · 13/01/2018 22:43

Who would complain?! Bizarre!

Lessstressedhemum · 15/01/2018 10:28

I know, it's really weird, but such is the Outlander fandom. Truly bizarre.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/01/2018 14:54

New teaser trailer for S4 (that I think someone taped straight off the telly Grin) if anyone's interested

quirkychick · 15/01/2018 20:47

Thanks Courtney.

Rewatching S1 and I have got as far as the Gathering. Keep thinking Claire must be blind not to have noticed how Jamie feels about her, SH makes him so charismatic, you can see how he's a contender to be heir to Colum.

MoNigheanDonn · 16/01/2018 09:47

Yes I felt like shaking her at times lol.

madamefraser · 16/01/2018 11:40

Monighean she's just putting of the inevitable ! When I first watched S1 I didn't really see the huge attraction between them if I'm honest, I saw a good friendship and only saw the flirting in Rent. But then watching it a second time obviously I saw it all Grin

snozzlemaid · 16/01/2018 16:30

Yes. When watching again I notice exactly how he's so utterly in love with her from the start.

MoNigheanDonn · 17/01/2018 05:42

Sam is a fantastic actor, he is the Jamie I see in my head.

mateysmum · 17/01/2018 08:00

At first though, Claire is all about getting back to Frank. She's denying her attraction to Jamie because she is after all, already married and trying to cope in this strange world. She's not planning on staying.

HarrietSpecter · 17/01/2018 08:38

New here, and placemarking as I'm a huge outlander fan!
I found out that I grew up just a few miles from where SH did!

mateysmum · 17/01/2018 09:08

She's NOT planning on staying!

Lessstressedhemum · 17/01/2018 10:17

In episode 3 (I think), when he gives her "the look", how on earth does she manage to not jump him? Why, oh why would you want to go back to Frank when you could have Jamie look at you like that?

MoNigheanDonn · 17/01/2018 10:45

Harriet - really young Sam or Sam 9+? I live in D&G where he lived until age 9.

mateysmum · 17/01/2018 11:48

Lessstressed - couldn't agree more. Especially after BJR had tried to rape her AND she's been snuggled up on that horse with Jamie for days.

quirkychick · 17/01/2018 14:44

Am rewatching S1 and have just watched for the umpteenth time the Wedding Grin.

I missed all the Scottish characters in S3, and some of the humour, too. Rupert and Angus were such a great double act. Also, TM, a really great actor, that palpable menace of BJR.

LonelyOversharer · 17/01/2018 16:59

I started a full rewatch this week too. I have to say I love it even more now! Yes, I hadn't noticed how much Jamie wanted her from the first, it is rather glaring.

All in all I feel a bit old and weary, and realised that no-one has ever looked at me like that! Never will now I suppose. Where are the tiny violins! Grin

Season 1 is just so good, I appreciate Angus and Rupert now too, they both play such good parts; and Claire is so 40's, I thought it was stuffy acting at first, but even women like her in the 1940's were probably very proper and reserved. Looking forward to a few more episodes tonight (I might push through for the wedding).

LittleDoritt · 17/01/2018 18:09

Just checking in so I don't lose you all. Halfway through Echo in the Bone and alternately loving it and being bored senseless. Really not loving all the Percy Beauchamp stuff.

LittleDoritt · 17/01/2018 18:13

Oh, also, I feel like a traitor to the thread but I watched the first two episodes of Black Sails and hated it. I couldn't bring myself to plough any further in to it. Wooden acting. Tired plot lines. No emotion. Ugh.

YoniHuman · 17/01/2018 19:01

I havn't started on Black Sails yet, I'm signed off sick with tonsillitis this week so binge watched The White Princess in 2 sittings. It's ages since I’ve had the chance to sit alone for hours in front of the telly - it was bliss. Smile. I watched the first season of Vikings ages ago, think I will catch up with that next.
I read Virgins before Christmas, not a bad little short story.
I was half toying with the idea of giving Echo a 2nd chance but then read I think it was Vegan's post and remembered why I'd given up the last time. Grin.
I'm currently reading and enjoying A Year of Ravens, a collection of 7 short stories set in the year of Boudica's rebellion.

madamefraser · 17/01/2018 19:24

Yoni I'm Reading Drums of Autumn but started reading Echo by accident . It's huge !!! I expect like most of DGs stuff there are some excellent parts including those lovely J&C moments plus some dreadfully boring bits ...
I feel like I have taken an OL oath now - Outlander seems like a commitment for life Grin.
LessStressed What you said a bit ago about that look in episode 3 - oh yes !!!!

HarrietSpecter · 17/01/2018 19:41

Mo - I lived in a village next to Loch Ken, just south of New Galloway/Balmaclellan! If my parents had chosen a different school ... well, you never know!!

quirkychick · 17/01/2018 20:53

LittleDorritt I found Black Sails a bit of a slow burner, actually. Lots of politics between the characters but takes a while to get going etc.

Haha, that look in Episode 3 Grin.
