I'm sure there are many planning to watch this tonight but I can't see a thread, apologies if there is one.

Looks promising with good acting stock. I'm already worried about the implications for real life reporting and conviction rates if the female is lying. Got a feeling it won't be that black and white though.

Maybe he was disgusted at the old Head and his admissions because in his own head he has done nothing wrong - plus she was younger then too, so the rational part of his brain thinks ' that was wrong, but what i did wasnt that bad as she is an adult now' or something very warped like that. He is such a good liar though. very convincing.
As an aside, this drama doesnt put the professional people in a good light does it?
(I used to love Peter Davison when he was Tristan Farnham, many moons ago, but now i just think ' what was i thinking?' ) Its not a bad drama, the flaws are huge of course and agree with viques that they always show teachers in a poor light ( teachers arrive hours before school and are there long after the children go home!) but overall its not bad and i hope she gets some revenge ( somehow) or the nice woman policewoman finds some evidence. Not sure what though.

GColdtimer · 26/09/2017 09:28

He wanted to distance himself from someone who was clearly guilty. He also doesn't see himself in the same vein as creepy, gropey middle aged man. He is far too superior. He would never be so crass to do what Peter Davidson did (is how he sees it).

BeyondNoone · 26/09/2017 09:39

When he asked the detective in for a drink, i did wonder if it was going to go “a bit TV” and she’d carry out a solo undercover mission and trap him. I was relieved that it just showed how creepy he is without getting silly.

The80sweregreat · 26/09/2017 09:50

I wonder if the policewoman will set up a 'honey trap' for him and get him that way?

beachcomber243 · 26/09/2017 10:30

How does Andrew the doctor know about the sister Katy meeting with Tom, Laura's ex ? He knew enough to threaten Tom and make him back off.

Therefore I think there is a connection with the sister who he works with. Maybe he wants her, and has been stalking her for a long time. I also think Katy's husband Liam knows more about things than he is letting on...and is wanting some sort of revenge.

beachcomber243 · 26/09/2017 10:33

Or Katy and Andrew have been having an affair, she called it off and so he sleeps with her sister to get back at her....? Maybe Tom/Katy is to throw us and Liam off track. He might have a crush on Katy and she isn't interested.

Or I could be talking rubbish...

The80sweregreat · 26/09/2017 10:36

Considering he is a surgeon and a single dad, he seems to have a lot of time on his hands for all this. I agree that he knows a lot about the sister and Tom. Liam is also a bit dodgy maybe?

InigoTaran · 26/09/2017 10:38

I though he said he saw Tom and Katy together outside the hospital?

Just seeing them outside the hospital would not make him threaten Tom in such a knowing way surely? Talking to Laura's sister wouldn't appear unusual, as they've known each other for a while, Katy being the 'sister-in-law'.
He knows much more, enough to shut Tom right up.

The80sweregreat · 26/09/2017 10:56

she probably trusted him more because he was a surgeon and her sister knew him / worked in the same place and she also teaches the son. Most people would be wary of a complete stranger, but she gave him the benefit of the doubt as she didnt think he would be capable of doing anything so evil and he was also such a good liar.
Thats what i think - goes to show , you really cant trust anyone until you really get to know them! a good message to put out there.

The80sweregreat · 26/09/2017 11:00

Mind you, she has had this happen to her before - that would make her much more suspicious surely? i dont know, i just hope he gets caught out again and it doesnt end up with him getting off.

Hillingdon · 26/09/2017 11:08

The80's - I agree. I probably didn't phase it correctly and I certainly wasn't blaming her at all. He was a handsome surgeon. Her guard was down. I suspect in those sorts of scenarios women are very likely not to report.

What I am saying is please - as women we need to be very careful. I despair when I see pictures of female university students in the media so drunk they are either throwing up in the gutter or sprawled out in the street oblivious of what is going on around them. They could be picked up and taken advantage of by anyone - it might be someone who is as drunk as they are and things do happen when both parties are in such a state they can barely speak.

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:09

Yes! Beachcomber I meant to add that I found him very creepy regarding the conversation at the park with the policeman. I thought stalking behaviour too. And I think it goes further than that. No way would the sister and the ex be kissing outside the hospital if they were carrying on an illicit affair.

BeyondNoone · 26/09/2017 11:10

”she should not have got as drunk as she did on a first date”

Hmm

We saw her with three or four glasses of wine; one or two in the restaurant and two at home. Hardly falling over drunk

Hillingdon · 26/09/2017 11:10

Wasn't the last time some groping by the head teacher? No quite the same thing but I thought Peter Davison was fab. Really creepy and of an age where he was convinced he had read the signals correctly.

I loved All Creatures Great and Small though!

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:12

Hillingdon.

Men need to stop being so dickish when it comes to sex. See a woman drunk and helpless, help her by alerting the police.

Basically, you are saying trust no man.

Hillingdon · 26/09/2017 11:12

The bear and earing was great at the end, however if she hadn't gone to his house and hunted around he wouldn't have been able to do what he did.

Again, she was plain daft to do that and the consequences of that are coming back to haunt her!

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:14

BTW, not all men are dickish when it comes to sex. Just some men. Most rapes are committed by those that people you know. In this case, the sister knew him.

Hillingdon · 26/09/2017 11:15

Elendon - I disagree. Why should the man be helping a women drunk and helpless. Maybe they are as drunk. Women need to take responsibility for their own safety and getting drunk doesn't help you do that. You make decisions that in the cold light of day you wouldn't normally make

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:16

She was clearly traumatised post rape. Yes, she probably would never have done that in a normal situation. Please show some empathy!

WalkingInMyShoes · 26/09/2017 11:17

Re: the keys - they discussed at their date where they keep their spare keys. He moved the rabbit and planted the earring to show her that he knew she had been in his house and that he could get into hers too. I took it as a warning shot.
Glad we're only half way through though I hope it doesn't go all Dr Foster on us!

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:17

Why should a man be raping a woman who is drunk and helpless?

Do you actually like men?

Hillingdon · 26/09/2017 11:20

It surely is under all our control to not get so drunk you don't know what you are doing. Why should someone else male or female be responsible for sorting you out.

Elendon · 26/09/2017 11:20

I think being groped by a head of a school, as a young rookie of a teacher, is actually really horrifying! This is the career path you set yourself out for and some sleazy fucker has come along and pinched your goals and dreams out - woman know thy place!
