Is anyone watching on channel 4?

OP posts:
2rebecca · 15/08/2017 21:21

I thought the last maths question for the girl was at a slower pace as I got that one before she did

MelvinThePenguin · 15/08/2017 21:22

and then makes comments about 'well if that's what they teach in schools'. Hmm.

flissfloss65 · 15/08/2017 21:22

I agree Fekko, Fabio's parents both helped the sister by raising banner and hand for Rise in Kendall Rise. Hippocracy as they're accusing others of cheating next week.

Fekko · 15/08/2017 21:23

Takes one to know one I guess!

quencher · 15/08/2017 21:28

Oh god, Fabio's mum looks at her children as an experiments with gratification for her self. Poor child constantly being criticised.

Poor poor child Shock

Fekko · 15/08/2017 21:29

I'm hoping they won't grow up to be so... extreme. It may work as a sahm but in the workplace, eek!

2rebecca · 15/08/2017 21:32

Agree these parents should have developed proper careers of their own and aspired for themselves and humanity not just participate in a souped up Bonny baby competition

TheHatOfDoom · 15/08/2017 21:33

I'm watching on plus 1.

Rahul not covering himself in glory with that reaction but I guess it's understandable.

Am hoping Oscar's mum is ok now. Someone earlier suggested they should have asked to defer his place. Wouldn't that have made him too old?

Ceto · 15/08/2017 21:40

It was quite funny how huffy Theo's mum got about the memory test and said something to the effect of "Well, if that's what they're teaching in school I really don't want my children to go to school". If she was half awake she would know that it certainly isn't what is taught in schools, and that that she should have expected that sort of test to come up as they did very similar ones last year.

2rebecca · 15/08/2017 21:41

Also if you see your child's achievements as a reflection of your own abilities what happens if they screw up, or decide to go for a low prestige career path? It's probably harder to support them if you feel it's your personal failure rather than your child's choice. What do you do when the kids leave home?

CatherineCawood · 15/08/2017 22:01

Just about to load it up!

Kitsandkids · 15/08/2017 22:09

My 2 month old really needs to up her game if she wants to be doing jigsaws at 3 months. I don't think she's realised she's got hands she can control yet! 😜

I always worry that children who are used to being the best and being hailed as geniuses are going to have a nasty shock when they're adults and don't have people thinking they're brilliant anymore. I reckon a lot of them will have to get 'ordinary' jobs like the rest of us and will end up feeling a bit let down by life.

jay55 · 15/08/2017 22:10

The parents are always mad. But every year a few friendships form amongst the most socially awkward (show offs who no one usually likes) and its kind of sweet.

The buses this year I think was harder than the train one the other year, as there are so many stops on a route and so many with similar names.

Fekko · 15/08/2017 22:14

We're Londoners so found the tube and bus routes ok. Mornington Crescent made me 😁

It's definitely a tough one but there's always one intense kid who has memorised the entire rail timetable by the time he was 5 on this show.

CremeFresh · 15/08/2017 22:14

The children are obviously all very intelligent but I find some of them rather precocious.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 15/08/2017 22:55

I liked Mog last year with his rather bemused parents, it looked like Oscar was going to be that child this year but sadly not. I'm routing for Joshua now. The others are all too precocious. I'm happy with my reasonably intelligent children who don't come across as brats. The parents are generally bloody awful on here. And it's very often SAHMs. Like they have nothing to do so they focus soley on their children (I'm a SAHM btw), what will happen when their children are older!

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 15/08/2017 23:02

Kitsandkids plenty of people have that experience at Oxbridge, when they arrive and discover everyone is just as clever as they are.
I liked Oscar's Dad. He was very supportive. I too hope the Mum is OK.

Ceto · 15/08/2017 23:09

Any children living in London must have had a slight advantage with the bus route thing. I know close to zero about bus routes, but could work out that that stop between Green Park and Knightsbridge was likely to be Hyde Park Corner. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't spent a lot of time commuting round London.

elephantmarch · 15/08/2017 23:30

I read an online article that says that Oscars mum was out of intensive care and on the mend :) i hope they do a what happened next show in 10 years time. Mog will probably be poet laureate by then. And who was that super quite humble winner whose dad had passed away. He's going to do great things

Ceto · 15/08/2017 23:37

I related instantly to Oscar's parents when I saw that their kitchen was as untidy as ours.

elephantmarch · 15/08/2017 23:43

Tomorrow's show looks like a corker.

I think f and o's mum is hilarious. I have a different view though. Her daughter is clearly amazing perhaps she's just trying to boost Fabio's confidence but being a bit too bombastic in the way she talks about it in order to play to the cameras? She's no shrinking violet

deadringer · 15/08/2017 23:47

I thought it was awful, won't be watching it again.

seasidesally · 15/08/2017 23:53

im buying popcorn for the next one Wink

PetyrBaelish · 16/08/2017 00:08

Rahul's dad got to me the most, he was unbearably smug!

And yes, Joshua's mum saying he was doing jigsaws at 3/4 months made me laugh. My DS came out of the womb clutching a solved rubiks cube, so there.

purpleme12 · 16/08/2017 00:19

I really felt for Oscar
