Anyone else looking forward to this?
I like Jodie W since she was in Cranford, and this new 4 part series looks good, plus it has to be an improvement on the rubbish that was on last week in this slot.

I work in a Trust where we found one of our locums was a sham. But only 6 months after she'd fled back abroad.

ScrumpyBetty · 09/08/2017 21:15

Was the biscuit for me? Blush I don't know why it provoked such a strong reaction in me, I just couldn't watch anymore! I didn't mean to come across as sanctimonious though.

MozzchopsThirty · 09/08/2017 21:15

It's just TV Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2017 22:06

Well I enjoyed :)

It's a drama

As long as it has a proper ending unlike some of bbc's stuff .....

LightastheBreeze · 09/08/2017 22:07

I enjoyed it and am looking forward to next weeks episode, I found it didn't need too much concentration like some series do.

cushioncovers · 09/08/2017 22:20

Found it too stressful to watch. Can't put myself through another couple of hours of that.

FluffyLuck · 09/08/2017 22:23

thenight, that's fascinating. Was she a sham because she wasn't registered to practice or not even a qualified Dr? Did the staff have inkling?

thenightsky · 09/08/2017 22:44

FluffyLuck She turned out to be a sham 6 month after she'd left... when we saw the article in the Guardian about how she'd been struck off! Shock She was an actual Dr though.

FluffyLuck · 09/08/2017 22:47

I bet HR were embarrassed Blush

EachandEveryone · 09/08/2017 23:24

Of course it wont have a proper ending when do these dramas ever?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/08/2017 04:36

Not sure why some of you find stressful to watch

It's a programme /drama /not real

Tho Obv seems it does happen

EachandEveryone · 10/08/2017 07:29

I never found it stressful can you imagine watching the fall you would all faint!

Elendon · 10/08/2017 08:06

I enjoyed it! I don't find it too much of a stretch to be honest. I remember a consultant gynae telling me I could probably pass my first year exams with flying colours! I also read an article about a surgeon who said most of the nurses who attended theatre could probably do his job blindfolded - he was making the point that experienced nurses should be able to do routine surgery to free up waiting lists.

pombal · 10/08/2017 11:14

I enjoyed it.

As a nurse I reckon you could wing it ifor a bit in some specialties but not A and E.
My first thought when she was going into A and E was what if she has to do a chest drain.

I think as a nurse you could also pass as a newly qualified doctor but not someone as experienced as the character is.
Really you would last a week tops before someone reported you.

I also wondered why she just didn't apply for a nursing job in another hospital or agency nursing or medical sales, recruitment, insurance companies.

I could easily support myself and a 3 year old on agency, no need to go round killing patients Grin

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2017 12:25

I thought that about the going into another field of work, pombal. also why A and E, which must throw up more problems than a doctor not working A and E? Lots of different patients to deal with rather than all of the same sort? ( not that i know, but you get my drift)
Did she 'blow the whistle' to the journalist , or just get pushed out because she went to the trust with her folder? I missed that bit.

Wormulonian · 10/08/2017 12:45

Pushed out because she went to the Trust with her folder. She then nearly spoke to the journalist again just before going to her friend's leaving party.

Wormulonian · 10/08/2017 12:47

I think she had to work in A&E as the friend whose identity she had stolen was an A&E specialist

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2017 12:50

thank you ladies, i should pay attention really to these dramas.

ImperialBlether · 10/08/2017 12:58

The irony with this was that she was so shocked at the standards in her own hospital that she was a whistleblower, but then went to work a doctor in life and death situations (compared to the wet bed she was complaining about) where it was obvious she could easily kill someone or misdiagnose them in a dangerous way. This did not tie in with her character.

And then of course her friend threw all her documents in the bin. It wouldn't just have been her CV - certificates and everything would have been there. Who would do that? Surely she would shred them if she felt she would never need them again (but then who'd think that in their mid-30s?) or put them somewhere safe like her mum's house?

And if the main actress (can't remember her name) was suspended, she'd still be paid. She couldn't open a bank account in the other woman's name as she'd need a passport, driving licence etc to do that, so she wouldn't get a salary for the job.

The tension was good but the plot was rubbish.

EachandEveryone · 10/08/2017 13:04

I think she was getting pushed out.

I know doctors are fed up but I can't say I've ever met such a senior one chucking out all their paper work to go and live on a sheep farm.

ImperialBlether · 10/08/2017 13:09

They work so hard to qualify, I couldn't believe her friend just threw her documents in the bin - didn't even shred them!

ImperialBlether · 10/08/2017 13:09

It would have been easy for the friend who emigrated to ask her to look after her documents for her while she was away.

The80sweregreat · 10/08/2017 13:32

there are another 3 episodes to go , so something else must happen next - not sure what though!
would you go into prison for doing this? i suppose a lot depends on how the patients were treated - she could easily kill someone.
( i know its a drama)

pombal · 10/08/2017 14:33

I think it's set in A+E to increase the drama and gives potential for more interesting story lines.

It wouldn't be so gripping if she was just reporting scans in a little dark cubbyhole somewhere Grin

Livedandlearned · 10/08/2017 20:32

The distressing bit for me was the car crash victims coming in, I've seen it in real life and it was a bit close to home. The ankle bit was fine really, I'm usually ok with hospital dramas and suchlike Grin
