Anyone watch? Think it could be quite good.

OP posts:
joolspoon · 12/06/2017 22:04

I did. Reckon it could be. But confused, not sure if that was my 2 yo running around or that it's confusing

CoolCarrie · 12/06/2017 22:22

I did, it was crap, a rip off of the brilliant Defence of The Realm with Gabriel Byrne, I bet it turns out the girl was sleeping with some US airman and he killed her and now is a big shot in US politics, dull and boring, won't bother with next week

Clawdy · 12/06/2017 22:30

It was a bit convoluted. Too many different storylines. The American link seems a bit much. And I like John Bishop, but he is no actor! They were the most unlikely couple ever.

aaahhhBump · 12/06/2017 23:21

Heard an interview with the lead during the week. I quite liked it. The whole snoopers thing creeps me out.

icelollycraving · 13/06/2017 07:38

John Bishop seems a nice guy in his comedy shows. At first I thought it was a comedy accent as seemed so full on, then realised who it was. What a v odd casting. Do you think the actor before him pulled out and they had to do a quick emergency casting?!

mumdebump · 13/06/2017 17:08

Tried to watch for about 15 mins but it was utterly shite.

LadyinCement · 13/06/2017 17:11

The Liverpudlian accent was extreme to say the least! He doesn't talk with as heavy an accent as that in real life.

It seems a bit virtuous to me, what with shady dealings of the establishment, nasty corrupt policewoman and chavvy family of murdered girl lining up against wrongly-convicted badly-represented ordinary man, with a nice Syrian lady thrown in for good measure.

Optimist1 · 13/06/2017 18:37

I take your point about the crusading lawyer vs dodgy Establishment, Lady - if future episodes persuade me that all is not as it seems I'll be more staisfied with the plot.

John Bishop should stick to the day job, IMHO!

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 14/06/2017 11:07

ITV crime drama blue rope alert!! (spotted in shed scene)

As mentioned by another poster on The Loch thread, it seems like ITV are determined to use up the surplus somehow (Broadchurch, The Loch, and now Fearless).

Plus, hey, who knew our much-mocked family car circa 1982 (dented, beige, Volvo Estate) would be deemed cool and retro in 2017? Grin

Bit try-hard, that.

cushioncovers · 14/06/2017 15:42

Tried to watch for about 15 mins but it was utterly shite.

This^^

ILookedintheWater · 15/06/2017 12:11

We watched the first episode last night and I enjoyed it. Dh went off on an anti-establishment rant and I'm not sure I can cope with him doing that every week.
We'll try again on Monday before making a decision.

EarlessToothlessVagabond · 15/06/2017 12:14

I really like Helen McCrory but the second I saw it was bloody John Bishop it put me off. He's just John Bishop. 'ACTING'. I couldn't take it seriously then.

VeuveLilies · 15/06/2017 12:56

I only recently learned that she's married to Damian Lewis

LadyinCement · 15/06/2017 13:03

I don't really like her, only based on the fact that her resting face is sort of "grinny". The sort of expression that a teacher would say, "So you think this is funny, do you?" when they're telling you off.

PuppyMonkey · 15/06/2017 13:06

I lasted till about the second advert (so just five mins or soWink) and couldn't get over the terrible acting.

southeastdweller · 15/06/2017 21:28

Could barely understand what was going on in this. HM was miscast and I wouldn't mind taking her out for a few burger and fries. John Bishop was terrible.

Pemba · 16/06/2017 01:57

This one I think might turn out to be good, bit early to tell yet though.

Clawdy · 19/06/2017 22:25

Anyone still watching? Tonight's was a bit action-packed. Don't see how Emma could fit a five year old into her incredibly complicated life!

Cagliostro · 19/06/2017 23:13

I've been sent over here to join you, thanks optimist :) not watched yet (this is the disadvantage of having children who Do Not Sleep) but will look on catch up

Dailystuck71 · 20/06/2017 07:21

I'm sticking with it but not engrossed.

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 20/06/2017 07:42

I'm with you there, Daily. Usually I become more engaged with the main character as a series progresses but Emma is irritating me more each episode. She's taken on a demanding case that involves dashing around the country and sheltering the freed man, is giving refuge and support to a vulnerable Syrian woman, has a dying father and still thinks she has time to devote to a child. Hmm

hollyisalovelyname · 22/06/2017 12:58

Optimist
Emma can certainly multitask.

Optimist1 · 26/06/2017 22:06

Am I the only one who'd be quite happy for the baddies to win, just to put an end to this terrible, terrible plot? Grin

KERALA1 · 26/06/2017 22:26

Emma was in my post pregnancy yoga class.

ILookedintheWater · 28/06/2017 14:28

Well we're enjoying it.
He's obviously innocent and glad that the son's on-side now.

The whole US conspiracy/hidden witness may yet blow up if Emma decides to do the right thing with the SIM and get the DI back on the side of good. Since mean US lady threatened her she has lied to Emma but I don't think she's irredeemable. At this point the Americans are the only ones I'm sure are baddies.
