Anyone watch? Think it could be quite good.

OP posts:
LadyinCement · 28/06/2017 14:33

Sooooo predictable.

Surely there'll be a twist and it turns out he did do it.

hollyisalovelyname · 29/06/2017 09:40

I think it's good.
So much better than Broadchurch or Redwater.

userblahblahwhatever · 29/06/2017 11:50

I like it too.

Optimist1 · 29/06/2017 20:48

And tonight we have to wait till 11:00 so that football and Piers Morgan can be shown/ Hmm

userblahblahwhatever · 29/06/2017 21:35

Oh is it on tonight?!

I like killer women too Grin

Optimist1 · 29/06/2017 22:17

Sorry, user (and any others I may have misled) ! Obviously having a blonde/senior moment there - tonight's is the repeat of Monday's episode.

userblahblahwhatever · 30/06/2017 08:14

Grinoptimist

topcat2014 · 03/07/2017 22:31

Anyone still watching this - I am, but getting really confused. Just how many Americans are involved in the coverup?

RainbowPastel · 03/07/2017 23:26

Struggling along but not enjoying it. It's a shame a lot of the actors are normally good but the storyline is crap.

lightcola · 04/07/2017 09:12

I've lost interest. The American woman annoys me. So unconvincing.

ILookedintheWater · 04/07/2017 13:10

What has the MP/tipped leader of party got to do with anything? Now totally confusing!
She shouldn't have given the advice she did. It was never going to end well except for as a complete overturn of original verdict....and as for jumping on a plane to ask a tiny pawn about state secrets? Really?
Has her husband left her or is he really away on business?
Most odd.
We'll be sticking with it now but it is making my head spin.

Optimist1 · 04/07/2017 13:38

There isn't a single character in this that I feel any empathy for. Will watch to the end, but haven't got high hopes of it redeeming itself.

Pemba · 10/07/2017 08:47

It's not great is it? But I shall plough on to the end now.

I think it was meant to be really good, hence the hiring of Michael Gambon, intricate and would-be meaningful title sequence (a bit similar to the one in Homeland) etc., but they forgot to get a decent plot and good writers!

ImListening · 10/07/2017 13:41

I watched part of last weeks & thought I can't waste any more hours on this - a shame as Helen McCrory went to same girls school as dcs so always feel I have a vested interest!

Optimist1 · 10/07/2017 22:54

Now that you've pointed out the Homeland similarity in the opening sequence, Pemba, I'm noticing inferior shades of Homeland all over the place in this!

LadyinCement · 11/07/2017 07:02

I think it was the same writer/writers as Homeland, but clearly the Fearless script has been given the bits they scrawled out.

Given the Damien Lewis/Helen McCrory connection, I wonder if he said, "If you do my wife something I'll come back from the dead in Homeland". I'm always cynical about these things!

Pemba · 11/07/2017 07:51

Really, Lady - the same writers as Homeland?? They must have been having an off day, well several off days!

LadyinCement · 11/07/2017 08:55

Yes, just looked it up - Patrick Harbinson. They must have known it's a turkey as it was buried in summer schedules and not given a prime Autumn slot.

Fiderer · 11/07/2017 12:51

There was a good scene with Michael Gambon & HMcC last night at least.

Sarah Hughes recap in the Guardian has an interesting theory about why the politician & his wife are involved.

That story line has been v tacked on. It was mentioned that the husband had been in Iraq so maybe he had been at the base, saw what happened, was part of the cover-up & then ended up marrying Rachel, who didn't want to admit that she'd been there too.

Blimey that sounds daft. V disappointing series.

MissEliza · 11/07/2017 19:34

Why would the Americans go to such lengths to protect the British politician but not the British government?

Fiderer · 11/07/2017 20:49

They were protecting both I think. The meeting was to be kept secret so reporting any accident would involve the police who'd want the van & the driver.

Gambon wouldn't have been driving himself, he was Cabinet Secretary. Maybe Wild was his driver, he'd have been a young soldier, maybe military intelligence. Ran over Linda.

Evil Heather's comments to him about how he'd have gone to prison may refer to the fact it was his van. It was in his interest to stay quiet & now he doesn't want to lose his reputation, he said he enjoyed being close to those who matter, had a photo of himself with Wild.

How did they know that Kevin fancied Linda though? Must have been through Rachel.

It is frustrating. Could have been so much better. And as for Steve Hmm Glad it finishes next week, I can stop being frustrated Grin

Fiderer · 11/07/2017 20:52

Protecting the government - the meeting was the one with the intel from the Iraqi, his information went into Colin Powell's UN speech re the war. In both governments' interests.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/07/2017 11:01

Is tonight's episode the final one?

RainbowPastel · 12/07/2017 11:41

It's not on tonight. Next Monday is the last episode.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/07/2017 12:53

It is in Ireland.
For some reason TV3 linked with ITV somehow (I think) shows programmes on different days to ITV.
So in UK are you ahead or behind viewers in Ireland?
Last weeks episode ended with Helen Mc Crory arrested in US
