It has to be the solicitor. There was a slightly crowbarred in line of dialogue stating that the only person the husband called about Steve coming to his work was his solicitor. And the actor who plays him is too well known to only have a bit part!

Ah thanks!

I'd love to know what happened in Ifield's flat after Roz woke up. Perhaps she is having an affair with the solicitor? He killed Ifield and kept the balaclava and then attacked Steve?

PollyPerky · 17/04/2017 09:20

Yeah...Navy it's things like that, which in an otherwise good drama, are annoying and treating the viewers as fools.

. I wonder if Arnott had been there instead of hopeless Jamie, the outcome of the interview would have been different? (Though of course they aren't real people and Jed M can do what he likes!)

Ferrisday · 17/04/2017 09:20

Just imagine for a second that a dept like AC12 accuses someone maliciously.
They have to be able to defend themselves and that's what Ros was doing.
I don't think the 'questioned by someone of one rank above ' applies to her, just to AC12 when questioning a suspect.
Her questions were her defence. And very clever too, casting doubt in all their evidence.
I did think Kate going to the forensic office was obvious and stupid, and so was her going out to speak to Kevin immediately after Ros, in playing sight of everyone.

Elendon · 17/04/2017 09:21

And, perhaps Solictor and Roz want to frame the husband but can't now as no one believes he killed Ifield.

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/04/2017 09:21

Yes, I think the solicitor is Balaclava Man. Or one of them anyway (am convinced there are at least 2)

Elendon · 17/04/2017 09:26

I think there are three BM's. The abductor and murderer, Ifield and Solicitor. (Though it could have been Ifield all along.)

teddygirlonce · 17/04/2017 09:28

I got the feeling that Ros left her phone at home on purpose in the first episode (when she went off to see Tim), so wondering whether she was setting Nick up in some way?

teddygirlonce · 17/04/2017 09:32

Nothing more has been made of Ifield's 'incident room' at home, has it? Would have thought that would have featured giving clues...

sonyaya · 17/04/2017 09:35

teddygirl

I thought she left it at home so they couldn't track her location using her phone.

GavelRavel · 17/04/2017 09:36

So is/was Ros really having an affair or did she say that to her husband to cover up what happened in Ifields flat? And that's why she's all upset about it in the car?

And then why so blasé the next evening after telling your husband you've just had a one night stand/affair?

teddygirlonce · 17/04/2017 09:38

I thought she left it at home so they couldn't track her location using her phone.

True but that would suggest that she always intended to do more than just confront Tim, doesn't it?

PollyPerky · 17/04/2017 09:38

She went beyond defending herself ferris though- she interviewed Hastings and he had his back against the wall. (It was commented on a lot on Twitter last night.)

PollyPerky · 17/04/2017 09:40

And then why so blasé the next evening after telling your husband you've just had a one night stand/affair?

Because she's a bitch?

ineedaholidaynow · 17/04/2017 09:40

Don't know if I have missed this, but do the general public know about balaclava man?

Ollycat · 17/04/2017 09:42

I found last night frustrating! Jamie's crap interview techniques seemed odd after he was so good with everything up to there.

Steve wondering what he did / didn't remember- was he protecting himself by hiding something?

They all seem to bounce back from serious head injuries v quickly!!

Maneet - nooooooo love her so much.

The dynamics between Roz and her husband very abusive / dependent on both sides!

tribpot · 17/04/2017 09:42

It certainly must have been on purpose. Very unclear why, given it appears she was only off to harangue Ifield for pursuing a line of inquiry she didn't agree with. But Nick has also pointed out Ros took a taxi to Ifield's flat, to avoid getting caught on CCTV, so she surely intended something bad to happen.

She seemed pretty angry last night when Nick told her he'd followed her. It seems hard to imagine she planned it so he would see it in time to follow her taxi. Although it seems like she could be working out how to use the evidence to her advantage.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 09:49

I think she would have left the phone behind etc even if she was going to confront Ifield because that is also against protocol and, at that point, she already knew AC12 was on her case and that she needed people to collar/blame.

Ollycat · 17/04/2017 09:50

Roz's solicitor said something to her pre interview along the lines of "this time you could get struck off" does this imply that she's been involved in dodgy dealings in the past which led to her career break?

stonecircle · 17/04/2017 09:53

One hole in the plot so far is that Hastings should have terminated the questioning from Roz Huntley on the basis he could only be interviewed by a more senior officer (than himself.)

I don't buy this - I agree with Ferris - Roz's questioning of Hastings was all designed to dismantle his 'evidence' against her. It was intended to undermine his case, not to open an unrelated set of charges.

TheKop · 17/04/2017 10:05

I agree that it looked like Roz had deliberately turned off her phone and left it on the counter for her husband to find.

I recall that AC12 confiscated her police mobile phone after the murder. Im wondering if she had another phone - before the murder that AC12 don't know about.

I'm convinced something happened if the flat whilst Ifield was out buying the tools at the DIY store. Perhaps Roz regained consciousness and went into the spare room to see the makeshift incident room with the various photographs and pieces of evidence.

If she did have another phone, did she call someone, let them into the flat and get back into position when Ifield returned? The person she called (balaclava man?) could have lay in wait behind Tim until he went to chop up Roz.

But far fetched, I know, but my mind is whirling.

Loving LOD, have loved it since series 1. One thing's for sure - whatever we suspect, there's likely to be a jaw dropping twist.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 10:08

I'm enjoying this series but I don't think it's been as good as the last three.

Ted's misogynism seems to have come out of nowhere and it's been signalled with a massive klaxon every time he's done it. It doesn't ring true. Even on the last thread, people were pointing out it's not like him.

I'm completely ambivalent about Ros. I don't love or hate her, I'm just a bit...meh. Lennie James' character and Denton were a masterclass in character writing (and acting) whereas I just don't have any strong feelings about Huntley at all and I can't work out why Confused The interview scene was clever, but we've seen that done before and after dealing with the likes of Denton, you'd have thought AC-12 would've either been squeaky clean or better prepared.

I miss Denton. And Dot. And even sleazy Nige.
