I'm in essex, the mile for maude is walking a mile for the charity - its on the charities thread, they're doing it nearer you I think - sorry for being fay i'm tired.

I'm doing it - sounds fun (I think)

MummyPenguin · 08/03/2007 13:43

I thought the dress was horrible too. It was all stiff and cardboardy wasn't it? It didn't fit her properly round the shoulders.

I thought the pasta thing that she was making for Jamie and Charley's tea looked really nice.

lissielou · 08/03/2007 13:48

just read thru this coz that prog made a real impact on me too. im a recovering anorexic, call myself that coz its an addiction like any other and still has a grip on me. i think nothing of going for 3/4 days on just apple peel. so MoM, hillary, if you want to chat either CAT me or email [email protected].

there is light but you have to be so careful not to slip!

3andnomore · 08/03/2007 14:08

I watched it, and also watched the other programme someone mentioned, think it was called "Super downsize me"...prefered the latter...Lou redknap, likes her curvy figurew ...wtf...she was 7st10 to start of with, and not really what I call a curvy figured woman!
But both programmes showed pretty much that size 0 tends to come wiht a price...and I know there are some few women who may well are a natural size 0, but the likes of Posh isn't....no matter what she claims, if she was she would have been a size 0 in her spicegirls days...!
I would love to fit into a size 10, never mind an 8 and I don't think I would ever fit into a size 4 (0)...ever no matter what I do!
But what I really would love is, if we weren't constantly shown and told that to be beautyful one has to be a size 0....I have problems with my body image anyway, and I really don't need that crap!

MeImAllSmiles · 08/03/2007 14:30

Would love to have seen this but was out having a curry!! No size 0 for me then.

MiaWallace · 08/03/2007 15:17

Totally agree with you 3andnomore. The other programme was called 'super slim me' btw.

FoghornLeghorn · 08/03/2007 15:37

I watched this programme and thought it was good but that is because I feel confident in my own skin, I am carrying extra weight after having a baby and don't feel 100% but this whole size 0 thing seriously doesn't appeal to me.

I don't think the programme came across as it was intended, I think to people who are considering these actions, it wont have put them off it at all.

Jamie Redknapp is gorgeous

speedymama · 08/03/2007 15:39

I saw the beginning of this and then switched off because I the nauseating, patronising Redknapp woman bleating on about pressure to be thin blah, blah, blah irritated me. She is in the media, she has posed for lads magazines, she buys into all that rubbish. She weighs less than 8 stone, she is thin already (I think her BMI was less than 20) and despite what she thinks, she is not curvy.

This would have been more credible if they had used a real curvy woman in the first place.

Can you imagine her husband or any other high profile footballer for that matter being seen in public with a real curvy woman? Pigs will fly before that happens.

3andnomore · 08/03/2007 15:48

speedy, agree with you, like I said the superslim me programme that was a few weeks ago had a more real woman, a size 12, I think, that loved her food and social life and she did this thing for 8 weeks, and I found her to be more believable. It was done in the way that that "supersize me" programme was done, where that bloke lives for whatever time just on fast food americaln style portions....!

Agree with foghorn....Jamie Redknapp is gorgeous....

3andnomore · 08/03/2007 15:55

superslim me video clip

speedymama · 08/03/2007 16:03

Thanks for that. Did not see Super Slim Me but if it was of the same standard as Supersize Me, it would have been thoughtprovoking enjoyment.

I'm a size 12 which I think is ideal. Even so, I am trying to lose another half stone to tone up my abs area (also doing lots of exercise). We women are our own worst enemy sometimes. Hey-ho!

3andnomore · 08/03/2007 16:21

oh definately....I don't need ohter people telling me I am fat...I can do that so well myself, actually much better then others ever could do
THing is, when people say I look good, I don't believe them anyway, lol...

ledodgyDave · 08/03/2007 16:24

I agree superslim me was much better.

scampadoodle · 09/03/2007 22:22

I didn't see either programme, but I always think thin clebs look 'normal' in photographs & on TV, but probably don't in RL. I have a friend who is 5'2" & REALLY petite - you'd never ever say she was fat or anything, and she is a UK size 8. God knows what she'd be like as a UK 4.
Height matters - loads of famous women are actually quite short. Kate Winslet is about 5'7" (?) which is why she can 'get away with' being a 10 or 12. I'm 5'8" and a curvy 12. If I didn't have chunky legs I'd probably look really slim.
6 foot models who are 8-10 therefore are just bizarre. (Erin O'connor is about a 10 - big for a model but she's at least 6ft).

A few years ago, before all this was a big story, I read an article about celebs with bulimia (such as princess Di etc) The scary thing was, all the women featured looked to my eyes to have great figures. very depressing.

kimi · 09/03/2007 22:39

DH1 says to me last week, "i don't know what all the fuss is about, i mean your a size 0 there is just a 2 in front of it"!!!!!
I'm a 16 ffs, i have curves.
He was just kidding though.
Size 0 = unhealthy in my book

3andnomore · 09/03/2007 23:22

scampa
you say
"A few years ago, before all this was a big story, I read an article about celebs with bulimia (such as princess Di etc) The scary thing was, all the women featured looked to my eyes to have great figures. very depressing."

That is the scary bit, isn't it....I suppose it shows that the brainwashing is working.
Although, I draw the line at Victoria Beckham, she definately looked better in her posh spice days...
but sadly I often do find that those skinny girls look fab, too...not all, but a fair few, and that does scare me....as I know that that si teh reason why I never ever will be happy wiht my own body...EVER....

kimi · 09/03/2007 23:33

Women are ment to have boobs and hip, if not then they would be pre pubescent boys

sockmonkey · 10/03/2007 09:53

I watched it... then went and ate a creme egg.
We have curves for a reason, as much as I would love to be thin, I wouldn't put my health or my children's happiness at risk.
