Did anyone else think Hana was extremely calm after having been rescued from the house? I also thought she made a big gesture of her bleeding ears and that her earrings had been torn out when being questioned by Roz. There's something going on with the earrings, which will have Hana's fingerprints and blood on, and the scene where Tim goes to the caff looking at her ears, hair and getting the fingerprint.

I think there's a connection between Hana and the girls in the first scene on the bus. It's them who point Hana in the direction of the bus stop, sending her into the road where she gets mown down by Balaclava,Man.

EmilyDickinson · 28/03/2017 07:47

Yes, I thought Hana was very calm. I mean honestly, she was run over, abducted, had her earrings torn from her ears, tied up, left to burn to death, rescued in the nick of time from a probable serial killer and shortly afterwards she's back in the café, chatting to customers and arranging to go to the flat of a complete stranger.

I think the way things were left at the end of the last episode has a certain dark comedy. How on earth do you re-establish a successful working relationship after your senior manager at the office has woken up to find you poised with a chainsaw above them? "Ah, Roz. So glad you're feeling better. Did you get my email about the collection for Simon's birthday? I was thinking £5 each and we go to the pub for birthday drinks."

GavelRavel · 28/03/2017 07:52

Is the issue with the earrings that they had the backs.on?

buggerthebotox · 28/03/2017 08:41

Did they have backs on? Missed that!

If earrings with backs are torn out, the backs are going to fly everywhere and are not likely to be found. So if the earrings had backs on when found, they couldn't have been torn out, could they? Mmmm...

GavelRavel · 28/03/2017 08:44

That's what i thought - it looked like they had the backs on but i cant be sure.

Elendon · 28/03/2017 10:05

But isn't the timeline is a bit skewered? The Hana thing in the coffee shop was creepy as hell and I also wondered why she would agree to meeting a stranger, but if you are putting out cards then you are eager for extra work and the money. And she is a cleaner. If she does come round to Tim's flat she will see the room and that it's spotless (he's obviously never going to call her).

I thought the ending was disturbing and unreal. Meant to shock more than anything else.

ButtonMooooon · 28/03/2017 13:02

I thought they were hoop style earrings i.e. No backs but can't be certain! I'll check when I watch again on Thursday!!

buggerthebotox · 28/03/2017 13:13

I thought they were hoops too, but the sort that have backs. I'm going to watch again too watched twice alreadyBlush.

GavelRavel · 28/03/2017 14:09

Yes i thought they'd were hoops but facing the other way round iyswim, facing out, with backs on, but i could be entirely wrong. I didn't even spot the thing in the series preview that everyone was freaking out about until it was pointed out on here.

fairycakecentral · 28/03/2017 15:14

I thought the portrayal of the solicitor was very realistic - sadly. Boring, routine stuff, not giving a shit, can't be arsed trying ... no experience of criminal solicitors in RL but I reackon his was a more accurate portrayal of that level of defence than we see in most tv shows.

tribpot · 28/03/2017 16:00

Earrings - they were hoops, with backs on.

It's at about 07:05 for anyone watching on iPlayer/DVR.

The whole episode was very odd. Would AC-12 really start an internal affairs investigation in the middle of an active actual investigation? Why wouldn't the forensics guy (who really should have just said "oh yes, very good, very strong" a la W1A/2012) go above Thandie's head if he was concerned? (He seemed to have targeted Steve on purpose, though, as a fellow 'whistleblower'). The Hana stuff was weird. Why would Thandie/Roz have gone round to W1A guy's house at night? There will need to be a LOT of explaining in the coming episodes to make that one seem plausible.

diddl · 28/03/2017 17:24

All this talk of hoops is reminding me of Life on Mars -"Gene Hunt, your DCI, and it's 1973. Almost dinner time. I'm havin' 'oops."

BusterTheBulldog · 28/03/2017 17:42

I think I need to watch this again, didn't pick up at all that cafe girl was earing girl.

I miss Denton :(

GavelRavel · 28/03/2017 17:50

Tribpot - i thought exactly that, she hadn't had a chance to even read or choose to ignore his emails really.

I'm fairly sure Hana's cleaning service was actually a cover for prostitution, especially when Thandie Newton's DCI called out Kate for pushing that term in her enquiries.

buggerthebotox · 28/03/2017 18:09

I thought prostitution too. In fact, Ifield was so creepy in that cafe that I thought he was going to proposition Hana.

buggerthebotox · 28/03/2017 18:16

Was the solicitor the duty one? If so, is it usual to be accompanied by the same one at seemingly quite random points in time as Farmer was?

He was pretty crap; I thought he may have been corrupt too. Or crap enough to be useless to Farmer, at least.

I was surprised that neither Kate or Thandie established whether Farmer could drive during the interview (unless I missed something).

NotJanine · 28/03/2017 18:16

What's W1A?

Ulysses · 28/03/2017 18:21

Yes, their conversation was a thinly veiled arrangement for sexual services.

tribpot · 28/03/2017 18:26

W1A is the sequel to 2012, the spoof about the Olympics. Hugh Bonneville's character has become Head of Values at the BBC.

Ulysses · 28/03/2017 18:28

WA1 is a BBC comedy show why was a fly on the wall style documentary about the London Olympics followed by another series about the general goings on at the BBC. It's very funny if a bit laboured at times and is on Netflix.

I thought the snoozing solicitor and Jason Watkins accent were overdone to be honest. Not exactly subtle. I'm being picky but Martin Compston's accent is a bit rubbish too but maybe because im used to his natural Scottish one.

Ulysses · 28/03/2017 18:28

Aah, Tribot. Forgot the original was 2012.
