Anyone else planning on watching this three-parter that starts tonight at 9?

nora I really like your theory!

DispatchReady · 03/03/2017 21:03

I have only just watched this - quite like it so far, although far fetched, I think it really portrayed Ellen's unease well, she is used to being the golden girl in the office with the couple doting on her, and Paula was usurping her, whether real or imagined in her mind it made me feel uncomfortable, which I guess was the point! Vicky is a great actress, played that annoying smugness to perfection!

Speaking of nice houses, how fab was Paula's? What does her husband do, if she has been working p/t for 10 years how have they got that impressive house?! I know it is nothing to do with the plot

Arcadia · 03/03/2017 21:22

The only thing I didn't like was I hated the way they were taking about 'part time' work as if it doesn't count. I am a solicitor and I work 3.5,days per week but do a bloody good job and am no less a solicitor because of it, or 'out of the game'! I think in that way you could tell it was written by a man.

chicaguapa · 03/03/2017 22:42

I've just watched it too. Team Ellen for me. I don't think it's paranoia. Paula definitely went to visit the client without telling Ellen and talked to him about making some changes to the plans. She also fabricated that the argument was about compliance when she saw the others come into the office.

I thought Kate had said there was a problem with tiles and that's why she wanted Ellen to visit the building site?

And YY to Rachel from This Life. It was just like that!

absolutelynotfabulous · 04/03/2017 07:33

I was wondering about Paula's house too. I think there must be a story there!

Interesting point on the mother/son psychiatrist combo.

Can't wait for next week!

IndigoApple · 04/03/2017 09:05

I really enjoyed it, I was team Ellen until she started talking about doing something monumental and smug 'it's all about to unravel!' in the car! Now, not sure....

Looking forward to next episode, gutted that I'm out on Tues, will need to avoid all spoilers until Wed night! Really enjoying this thread as well.

SumThucker · 04/03/2017 09:05

It wasn't Paula's house, it was the boss's.

BonnesVacances · 04/03/2017 09:22

Paula's house was a manor house. There was a shot of Kurt coming up the stairs and then it panned round to show Paula staring out the window into the grounds.

TizzyDongue · 04/03/2017 10:02

Just watched. Unsure, liked it and disliked it in equal measure. Though I will continue watching (so I guess the liking won out!)

I completely missed the bit where Ellen was her husbands patient!! Didn't really get what was going on with her sister either (was that the part where we found out about her being a patient?)

The actress that plays Ellen sounds exactly like whoever read an audiobook I listened to last year. Don't recall the names being the same though - obviously voice twins!!!

hippyhippyshake · 04/03/2017 11:43

Just marking my place, I'll forget when it's next on otherwise!

Charley50 · 04/03/2017 16:16

Yes; nice house was the architect bosses. Was Paula's house that manor house? I thought that might have been an institution.
I'm on Team Ellen. Paula WAS definitely trying to undermine her, and who the fuck was she to tell her she wouldn't want to go back to work and otherbaby advice... she barely knew her. Then again pregnant women are seen as fair game for advice givers.
I hope Ellen isn't the baddie, and hope her husband doesn't go off with Paula.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2017 17:25

I really enjoyed

Team ELLEN

Paula is def trying to undermine her. Not sure why she came in sooooooo early in the project

Poor kay? Friend /boss who fell from skylight

ELLEN I think was in murder in paradise

HollyJollyDillydolly · 06/03/2017 17:31

Just watched this on iplayer, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to part 2.

Zhabr · 06/03/2017 19:01

I reckon Paula is a villain. Reminds me of TV series The kindness of strangers.

CoffeeCoffeeAndLotsOfIt · 07/03/2017 18:12

On again tonight - really looking forward to it 🤗

GMOOH · 07/03/2017 19:58

To answer the questions above re: could it be suicide, the BBC1 announcer said a few mins ago "when maternity leave turns into murder" - guess it rules out suicide!

Moanranger · 07/03/2017 20:56

I just find Ellen a bit wet & teenage for someone who is supposed to be an architect that has just one a prestigious award. She's not like any (female) architect I know.
Setting that to one side, it is pretty good. Will watch tonight.

NoelHeadbands · 07/03/2017 21:10

Yes we get it

THEY LIVE ON A FANCY STREET

NoelHeadbands · 07/03/2017 21:11

And also the Ellen-hugging is getting on my tits Grin

SinisterBumFacedCat · 07/03/2017 21:11

I still find Ellen incredibly spikey and full of herself, I can't warm to her at all. The baby is super cute though.

CactusFred · 07/03/2017 21:18

I want the geometric patterned top Ellen was just wearing when Paula visited!

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 07/03/2017 21:21

Why is Ellen driving so soon after a C section? I'm Team Ellen. I like my protagonists a bit unloveable.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 07/03/2017 21:22

Actually she does make a pro stalker!

2rebecca · 07/03/2017 21:22

These sort of series just leave me feeling emotionally manipulated. Both the main women are irritating. I agree that the main woman seems too wet to be a career architect and if working on a large project could have used contraception unless really wanting a career break. 8 months seems a lot of maternity leave for a partner in a business as well, although maybe she's still employee. Architect are usually partnerships and long maternity leave is unusual in partnership agreements.
These series are too often formulaic with impending calamity for the first 2 episodes and then everything resolved in the final 15 minutes of the last one.

QueenoftheAndals · 07/03/2017 21:24

Messaging Paula's daughter on Facebook, WTF??
