Paula did imply that her husband was going to take over the bulk of the child care, The80s , but when Ellen referred to it in conversation with him at the Sunday lunch he looked a bit nonplussed. Not sure if my interpretation of his look was correct, though!

I have to admit to being very shocked by the ending - I'd thought we were in for a tale of feelings and influences, not a violent death. Sad

SumThucker · 01/03/2017 11:37

I think it'll be the boss who killed his wife. Was a bit of a stretch though, why would the female boss ask her heavily pregnant employee, who's already been injured there, to meet her at the building site in the dark?

The80sweregreat · 01/03/2017 11:41

i will have to watch that bit again, i think that we had resorted to sub titles by then so i tend to just read and not look at the faces!
there has been a lot of mention of the boss lady not having any children of her own - i feel this could be significant somehow..
Now Ellen has had the baby she will feel even more left out of things.
her hubby is very attractive!

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 01/03/2017 11:43

How can anyone be Team Paula Shock

I really enjoyed it. I too thought it was going to be a surprise baby shower so when the body fell through the skylight I fair jumped out of my seat.

What with Broadchurch on a Monday and this on a Tuesday!

PuppyMonkey · 01/03/2017 11:48

I'm another who is possibly Team Paula, on the basis that she's being set up to look like the oh-so-obvious baddie, but it might be just the main character's paranoia. But we'll see....

The80sweregreat · 01/03/2017 11:49

exit, i know - its a shame that all the dramas are on first part of the year and by the summer its all repeats or films!
I prefer a drama serial, the replacement is only 3 parts, but Broadchurch is 8!! the record button will be on overdrive.

Watched this after just finishing a book called The Fire Child by SK Tremayne. Again a bit far fetched but deals with the issue of pre-partum psychosis that makes the main character doubt her own sanity, become suspicious, paranoid and had also suffered with depression previously. It made me wonder whether this may be the case here or whether it is a red herring.

Is Ellen being set up here over the skylight or am I overthinking

Ferrisday · 01/03/2017 12:50

Well that was unexpected!

I thought Ellen did great with those hormonal tears

QueenoftheAndals · 01/03/2017 12:55

Arkengarthdale, he was in the last episode of season 2 of Outlander, playing Roger Wakefield. I expect he'll make more appearances in season 3. The actor (Richard ??) was also in the underrated WWI drama The Crimson Field back in 2014.

Arkengarthdale · 01/03/2017 13:26

Thank you Queen. Haven't got that far with series 2 yet. Is it Richard Rankin? Bonny lad, anyway Grin

QueenoftheAndals · 01/03/2017 14:00

Yes, that's his name!

Bestthingever · 01/03/2017 14:09

No the dp is not staggeringly young to be a psychiatrist. He's in his mid to late 30s, which is realistic. However Ellen seems quite young to be an architect with ten years experience. But I'm just nit picking. It's a great drama. Paula reminds me of a manipulative colleague I have at work. Oh crap, just realised we have at least two skylights at work. I'm staying well away from them!

Cagliostro · 01/03/2017 14:24

Ah fair enough I thought he looked a lot younger than that, must be good skin :o

Elendon · 01/03/2017 14:45

Yes I agree that both Julia and Ellen are way too young looking to be having such positions in an architecture's office. Most associate architects bringing in £12m contracts are mid 40s onward (unless they come from a wealthy family, which does happen) and these are mostly the men. But it's a story. Not real life.

fussychica · 01/03/2017 15:04

Ellen is also in Grantchester.

I thought it was really good and just hope it doesn't go the same way as many British serial and have a crap ending. I thought Paula was incredibly creepy, especially when she touched Ellens bump it actually made me cry out "Noooo".
I wonder if Paula is after the dead woman's husband as they looked very cosy together in one of the office shots.

Looking forward to the next episode but would prefer to be able to watch the whole lot in one sitting like Nexflix etc..

Bestthingever · 01/03/2017 15:13

Dougray Scott's character is a bit dodgy, a bit too nice IYSWIM.

Elendon · 01/03/2017 15:26

Who has the time to watch all of these programmes in one sitting?

WhyOhWine · 01/03/2017 15:29

Did it suggest at one stage (ellen googling him) that Paula's husband was an architect, so her first idea about moving lights of whtever that first impressed them might have come from him? I thought at first on that Paula might have been planted there to help him take the contract from them. Far too tame a thought compared to the ending though!

The80sweregreat · 01/03/2017 15:30

We tend to tape, itv is good as i can whizz through the ads and other stuff. The programme is only 45 mins long then, if that.
I liked the more straight forward approach of this drama, no flashbacks to the past, yet anyway.

QueenoftheAndals · 01/03/2017 16:00

Dougray Scott's character is a bit dodgy, a bit too nice IYSWIM.

On the BBC site it talks about how his character "keeps a tight lid on his emotions especially his feelings for Ellen", so I think there is definitely more to him than meets the eye.

fussychica · 01/03/2017 16:25

It's only 3 episodes so just like watching a long film. I always record and run on anything on commercial channels as I hate the adverts.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/03/2017 16:35

On planner

Beingrippedoff · 01/03/2017 17:20

I thought he was a bit touchy feely with Ellen so wonder if there's some history there
Don't really get all the dislike of Ellen on here, I think it's just a portrayal of a very career orientated driven woman struggling a bit with impending motherhood and a weird co-worker/replacement

diddl · 01/03/2017 18:49

It was quite good, wasn't it?

I didn't think that either Paula or Ellen seemed that nice.

Paula keep going on about the baby was awful, but then when Ellen made her do the presentation, I assume with the hope of her failing...
