It's a worry isn't it kidding? My teens are given talks on the dangers of social media and sexting at school but I'm not sure how seriously they take it. There are so many pressures these days. Sad

I'm quite liking Carmel at the moment. That conversation about getting up early everyday for shaki was a really good scene. Especially mirrored to how Sylvie and shirl were brought up.

Agree about the scene in the first episode tonight about Carmel getting up early for Shakil being great, and their scene on Tuesday when she told him about the consequences of the explicit picture on his phone. I struggle to think of E.E now without Bonnie Langford - she's so convincing as Carmel and a better actress than I gave her credit for.

I'm sure the school would notice they were trouble and that Bex is very withdrawn.

I'm starting to hate Martian as much as Jack, he's a bloody caveman. Stacey horrible too, using her kid as a weapon.

I'm hoping Kegan and the two bully girls get locked in a car trunk together and dispatched Fatboy style.

Oh no, poor Shirl, not the "tough old bird" people think she is. I did enjoy Billy and Honey's surprise at her not having already been in prison though!
I think that Sylvie misrembered being locked in a cupboard by her mum and it was actually her that did it to Shirl, Shirl being banged up will trigger flashbacks and break her. :( I love Shirl.
I used to love Tina, especially as she is essentially the exact same character that LBW played as the awesome Kira in This Life, but i'm going off her, she seemed totally unmoved at Shirl being locked up.

I thought martin was quite realistic, I mean how many of us tell our dc off for doing far milder stuff than we did in our youth? We don't say 'oh well, don't worry I was worse'

And I also think Tina was thinking 'oh fucking great , Shirley gets to save the day, and gets away with not looking after Sylvie, and I'm lumbered again.

Tina and Shirley had completely different upbringings - Sylvie left Tina and Mick when they were very small and they ended up in care homes and then being looked after by Stan and Shirley. Sylvie resented the fact that Mick was Shirley's child and that Babe was on the scene to help out too , plus they hated her for leaving them to get on with it all. Probably the knock on effect was Shirley being such a bad mum to her own children and also abandoning the one who died of CF ( Jimbo i think they called him) for Kevin to bring up and Dean. I thought it was true when Shirley said ' just because mum is old doesnt mean she wasnt a cow when she was younger', hence her decision to help out Mick now in his hour of need, a bit of giving back! She is a complex character, but i am a fan and i do feel sorry for her!

It was leasehold pubs vs the freehold that he currently owns that Mick was talking about The80s. And yes he was spot on.

But that leads us to knowing that they own the freehold and are an untied pub. And we remember that they bought it with a hold-all full of cash Hmm so when the carters came into the show they mush have been VERY wealthy. That would have cost hundreds of thousands, if not over a million (I'm up north but basing that on property values).

Plus to have that kind of money in cash it must have been dodgy. You can't just buy things with cash like that, the money laundering laws are all over it.
So they have gone down hill fast financially over the last few years.

I love Shirley. She's my favourite character. I hope she's not away for 3 months. Who will protect Mick from whit?

I agree with a previous poster that she is pissed off that she's been left looking after Sylvie by herself, especially after sHirly said she was going to move out andleave her to it.
