I preferred davids work was the best this week but im happy Suman won.

Overall I'm pleased Suman won. Her portrait of her dad was accurate but a little 'tight', I thought; but she really seemed to loosen up with the water scene and it was very expressive and characterful. She was the best over the whole series IMO.

Alan's pic of his mum was sensitive and beautiful and I liked that he seemed to gain in confidence towards the end.

David's pic of his dad was astonishing; completely convincing, full of energy and feeling. I liked his water scene too.

I felt for Jennifer and her sea-sickness but she just didn't pull it out of the bag work-wise. I didn't get her portrait of her mum at all.

I loved this! When's the next one? Smile

initally i didnt get jennifer's painting of her mum but on the second showing i did - amazingly

The problem with Jennifer is as someone said she already done a fine arts degree. So you think she's been pulled and pushed to the max already. Where as someone like David still working on whatvstule is is and how to do tenhiques or basics like how to use a pallets knife. So they should progress much faster.

Enjoyed this series more than the last. Thought the idea of mentors was good as well, I learnt some helpful bits from Pascal though would've liked more of actual painting than chat from the presenters.

We felt Suman was a worthy winner but David's portrait of his Dad was first class. Alan's portrait wasn't that good and Jennifer's barely credible. Early in the series it was the public who save Jennifer on more than one occasion.

As for painting on a boat. That was weird. Anyone whose done small boat sailing will know that motion sickness can be controlled by looking at the sky in the far distance, just above the horizon. Concentrating on something barely a foot away and then a couple of hundred metres would've sent the brain into apoplexy, as eyes and the inner ear struggle for stability.
